Df'ing: Sister's Tears Wreck a Congregation?

I'm relaying this story to show all of you how disfellowshipping can be made to backfire on the

organization. I have only changed nonessential details to protect anonimity of those involved.

Congregation "A" had a very zealous couple who were very involved in "spiritual" pursuits. They had

a popular daughter - who later drifted away. The elders were very zealous in hunting her down for a

committee meeting - although many in the congregation knew that there was bias and other injustices

involved in what the elders did. Anyhow, the daughter was df'd but the inept elders read the

    announcement without telling the parents!

The sister reacted by crying hysterically and protesting that she wasn't even warned. Many in

the hall got upset and the couple abruptly left the congregation, then and there, and Never came

back, not even for a visit. There was a lot of talk about the whole affair ( and the details I'm not

revealing) and the congregation's attendance plunged, so much so that it was discussed by the

    elders.

In the years that followed, one young promising elder simply quit and another elder abruptly

left after his wife took offense at someone and she demanded that they leave ( he meekly

complied). The C.O is concerned about the long term erosion of the congregation even though

another congregation in the same area is growing. Attendance is very low.

How did this all happen? I say that the sister's tears started the whole chain of events and set a

personal example that taught everyone that you don't have to take this anymore and you can just

walk out, then and there, and never come back.

I continue to suggest that all of you USE YOUR IMAGINATION in regard to any disfellowshipping

that you feel is unjust. At Bethel, during a so-called "rebellion" ( The 3 Freds incident, for you

Theocratic history buffs) Fred Franz warned that it was very important not to make martyrs

of people who 'rebel' against the organization! He clearly understood this danger as a threat

    to the Society's control.

The Society will continue to use disfellowshipping to wreck families and control its thralls

UNLESS THEY STOP MEEKLY COMPLYING WITH IT - and if they collectively do that,

it'll hit the old Watchtower frauds like an earthquake.

Wow...what a story. They were certainly in the wrong in their somewhat out of the ordinary but still idiotic behavior and the daughters reaction was different too, but oh what power her tears displayed. I think things like this will be surfacing more often and it will be an increase of those idiotic maneuvers that will trigger a major decline in followers sooner than later.

The Watchtower creates new enemies every day by being so power-hungry and/or insensitive.

Some of us who were cornered and DF'd by power-loving elders have turned into the most active ex-JW's. I thank the elders for DF'ing me in an unfair manner and setting me free from their quixotic controlling totalitarian cultish group.

Excellent story, maybe they will change this policy if they realise it would suit their agenda. Making enemies intent on destroying you is not good for business.

    Melatron,

This story, if it is true has similar tones to a 'hypothetical scenario' that you posted in another thread.

If this story is true and I have no reason to doubt that it is other than your marked reluctance to identify the location concerned.

If ithis matter is of such burning concern to all those members (past and present) of that congregation there is no danger of losing or exposing your identity from your post. I have not read all your posts in other threads and so I do not know what information you may have revealed there that would justify your reluctance to identify the congregation concerned.

My final point regards the walk out of the 'sisters' parents and others from the hall. If they had been pre warned (conditioned ) to the disfellowshipping, would they have reacted differently ? I am not sure if the mother of this person was more aggrieved with her daughter being Df'd or the sudden shock of being present when it was announced.

Would she have reacted differently if she had been pre warned and managed to stay at home instead of going to the KH that day ?

Only you can 'suggest' what they might have done.

You are right about walking away and making new, real friends.

The longer you wait the harder the break from the institutionalised mentality will be.

The WTS calls this "being stumbled". It is the way they operate, it's always someone elses mistake.

    Melatron,

Have you decided whether it is true or metaphorical yet?

METATRON- The sister's tears didn't wreck the congregation, the elders did by their unjust dealings with their members.. I have seen this scene played out so much over the years where elders , who only qualify to be elders based on whose a $$e$ they have been kissing, or field service time reported , are appointed to postions of power without any other qualifications to conduct the position properly with love.

Your point is well taken that more people should not lay down like lambs, but fight against this dfing thing , then maybe the society in time would have to drop it. Early this year I fought against a disfellowshipping charge and an appeal committee overturned the decision against me. But had I not fought against the false charges, I'm sure they would have carried it through. The reason I fought ? I was not going to allow imperfect men to say whether I could see my 80 and 82 year old parents. @&^( em' I say
