JWs CAN CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS!
by Sirona inwhen a jw tells you christmas is pagan, therefore you shouldnt celebrate it, you can refer them to this article.
it is discussing wallpaper and other home decorations and what sorts are acceptable.. *** g76 12/22 14 are they idolatrous decorations?
so the christian needs to be primarily concerned about what?

Should I call the local elders
by joelbear inwitnesses always say if you have questions, you should discuss them with the local elders.. most of you have seen over the past few days, the 5 or 6 questions which led me to leave the witnesses and take up my hedonistic lifestyle.. should i call the elders and give them a chance to answer my questions?
i've asked my father some of them, but it always turns into an argument and upsets my mother too much for me to really pursue the discussion as far as i would like.. just to reiterate.. my questions are:.
1. is there a logical explanation of god's justice system for the universe, which includes all sentient creatures and how they are judged?.
-

Well, first of all, I doubt whether you will find many elders who even
understand question #1. You will have to dumb it down for them.I'd like to hear their responses, but I would be pretty shocked if you
got anything more than a superficial answer that any reasonably
intelligent person could pick apart easily. -

Justice for animals
by joelbear inanother question.. since animals also were enjoying paradise when adam sinned, they were also deprived of paradise when adam sinned.. how can god allow the suffering of trillions and trillion of living creatures who had nothing to do with the sin of adam and who do not inherit sin from adam?.

Good point, Joel. Why are they being punished unjustly?
On a related point, JW's explain the process of aging and death
as being a consequence of inherited imperfection. If we were not
imperfect, we wouldn't die. Yet, animals age and die just like we
do and they have no original sin.Why do we need the concept of original sin to explain our condition,
when animals experience precisely the same condition with no
explanation? Again, why are they being punished with aging, sickness,
and death, when they did nothing wrong? -

How to wash your dishes properly
by spacegirl ini remembered the other day reading in an awake, oh it must have been about five or six years ago, an article on how to wash your dishes properly.
for god's sake, do jw's not know how to do that and do the borg think they have to tell them how to do it.
it's cracking me up just thinking about it.. to make you laugh even more, in the next issue of awake someone had written a bloody letter thanking them for the article and how it had helped them so much and had a query on whether to rinse dishes with water or not after washing.

For truly clean dishes, you must wash them in the "blood of the lamb".
Introducing new "Lamb's Blood Detergent". Guaranteed to put the fear
of God into grease. It works for the 144,000 - It can work for you! -

144,00 A LITERAL NUMBER?
by Pureheart inhey yall,.
is 144,00 a literal number?.
(revelation 14:1-4) and i saw, and, look!
-

According to "Assimov's Guide to the Bible", the number 144,000 is
symbolic, just like everything else in Revelation. In fact, in that book, the
symbolic nature of the number is treated as a fact that is so well established
that it can be taken for granted.Interestingly, according to the same book, Babylon the Great refers to
the Roman Empire. That makes a lot more sense to me, and apparently to
everyone else in the world, too. -

Watchtower "Newspeak" Self Defeating
by metatron inin our search to understand the true nature of the watchtower,.
it is likely that many of us consulted orwell's "1984".. in that book, one important component of big brother's rule is the.
use of "newspeak".

Voltaire, you have echoed the situation in my house exactly. At one time, my wife
would ask me "So, what did you find wrong with this one?" on the way home from
the meeting. I would usually try to find something good to compliment before
beginning my critique. But now, we don't even discuss it. I'm sure she assumes
that I have found the usual number of errors, and doesn't want to get into it.On the other hand, it was always good for the kids to hear the meeting rebuttal. Now,
I have to de-indoctrinate them in private (which is working quite well, actually). -

Creationist Red Herrings
by Abaddon ineverytime i hear someone say anything about how there are 'no transitional fossils' (fish-amphibians, amphibians-reptiles etc.
), i generally ignore it.. why?
because if they say that, it tends to indicate the person saying it has restricted their research to pro-creation sites that generally repeat one of the classic fifty or so creationist arguements.

Barber's comment about the coffin really indicates his lack of education.
It isn't even original. I have heard that comment from other creationists.
He just copied it. But, JW's have not read enough to know even that much. -

Your thoughts on this letter please.
by sleepy inhere is an excerpt from a letter from the society.. jehovah has endowed us with free will.
as such he has implanted in us the faculty of choice.
he does not force us to act or think in a certain way, nor does he employ his sevants to do so ( 2 cor 3:17).

Once again, they are just messing with people's minds.
It's the same old story. You can and should question your religion
and believe whatever you want, unless you are one of us. Then, since
you have found the truth, you should stop questioning and looking. It's a double standard, and it's the only way they can sustain their
idiotic doctrines. -

Another Bible Oddity
by Yerusalyim injoseph et al,.
what's the deal with jesus in mark 2:26 saying abiathar was high priest yet in 1 samuel 21:1 it's ahimelech who gives jesus the bread.
was jesus wrong, or is 1 samuel wrong?.
-
RunningMan
Based on the principle that the oldest manuscript is the closest to the source,
you would have to go with Samuel right and Jesus wrong. This is one of approximately 2,500 errors and contradictions contained in the
Bible. It is also one of the 2,500 reasons that have convinced me that the Bible
is primarily a book of Hebrew mythology. -

Chapel? Choir? Are these our JW's?
Actually, in my city there are several old Kingdom Halls that
have been sold. One is a Sihk Temple, one belongs to the Ba'hai,
and one is a union hall. The demons must be having a field day,
desecrating these once sacred buildings, especially in the union hall.
