I believe intuit39 has the right answer.
Jesus seems to be making the point that we all have gifts and resources at our disposal. We must make as much as we can of them.
So, the answer then is, "you are".
i know that most of you do not believe that the annointed remnant among jehovah's witnesses is the faithful & discreet slave.. so who is?
jesus did say that this slave (individual or class?
) would be feeding his sheep, so who is doing the job?

much to my surprize, i received an e-mail from a webzine this morning, telling me that one of my articles was published.
they must be very hard up for material.. it is on the subject of "the women of the bible".
it outlines some of the gender discrimination of the bible, and highlights a few inconsistancies in some of the bible stories that mention women.. if anyone is interested, it can be found at: http://www.liberator.net/.
Thanks for all the nice comments, everyone.
Lari: That's a good point. I compared several translations and was unable to come up with a definitive answer. My source for reading it the way I did was "Assimov's Guide to the Bible". It seems to be the common understanding that the scripture referred to Mordecai. However, there is a case for it being read the other way.
At any rate, it's more fun this way.

blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, and blah.

I sympathize with Sister Cantu. I gave the number 4 talk on Tuesday night. It was from page 165 of the Reasoning book (I think). These talks are sliced into such small pieces, that the portion assigned to that talk had virtually nothing useable in it.
It was noteworthy only for the fact that it was my first talk since growing a beard.
My introduction used a posting from this board a couple weeks ago regarding a drug that extends life span. Many thanks to the apostates who contributed my only useable material. I can post the entire text of my talk, if anyone is interested.
looks like it's just disappeared.
no more posts from danni.
no more posts from mymy.. just to add my own little tidbit here, has anyone heard of a park hills (or parkhill) congregation?
I know this is way off topic, but the above joke reminded me of one:
A man walks into a psychiatrists office wearing nothing but saran-wrap underwear.
The psychiatrist says, "I can clearly see you're nuts".
after much deliberation, i decided to go "out" at the end of a public talk.
it didn't go down too well, but at least i was able to give some of my reasons for leaving.. i've put some of the details on my homepage.
i'll update it more when i get the time and the strength.

Just click on the globe under his name at the beginning of this thread.

I would like to present you with the MOA (Most Outstanding Apostate) Award for the month of January, 2002.
Well done!
i know the last post i did on this subject was a real fire starter... however that said, i am starting to plan my follow-up visit!
suggestions as to what nerves could be touched this time please!!.
as a refresher i touched on these:.
How about singing the wrong words to the songs, or kneeling for the prayer.
we know the wt society has a long history of prophecies, especially regarding dates.
almost 100% of such prophecy was in error.. it seems though, that they got a date right by foretelling that 1914 would be "the end of the world as we know it".
yes, they changed the meaning of 1914 several times.
As Witnesses, we suffer from a common misconception. We have been drilled with the idea that 1914 is the most significant date in the history of humanity. The reality of the situation is much different.
Yes, 1914 had significance. But, ask a worldly person to name a great turning point in history. You will get dates like 1492, 1776, any many, many, others. 1914 is no more significant than 1939 (outbreak of WW2), or 1929 (depression begins). Some will say that the date the atomic bomb was used was a turning point. In fact, many people will not even know that WW1 broke out in that year.
Now, was 1914 a lucky guess? Well, what happened in 1925 or 1975? - absolutely nothing. If you guess enough dates, sooner or later, one of them will have a big event.
The society is neither inspired, nor lucky - just persistant.
reasoning from the scriptures says on pp95-97 that months consist of 30 days.. years therefore would be 360 days long.. i have calcaluted(sic)that for every year in the `western'calender such a 360 day calender would fall 4/5 days depending on whether it was a leapyear or not.
now over a period of 2520 years,a 360 day calender would be 9,940 days behind a 364/5 day calender(25 years!
) therefore 2520 years according to book of daniel would fall in 1889!.
In addition to the above mentioned problems, I would like to add another.
The starting date of 607BC is wrong. Israel was overthrown by Babylon around 589. The JW's are the only ones who believe in the 607 date. And, in fact, even they at one time said that the date was 606.
In reality, the date of 1914 was arrived at using a completely different methodology. One of the methods described by C T Russell, was by measuring the pyramids, and converting the measurements into some obscure mathematical code.
Over time, Russell's wacko ideas became embarassing, so the Society decided to come up with a more Biblical explanation. Working backward from 1914, they invented a numerological method and changed some history to make the numbers add up.
