what exactly is the two witness rule regarding the witnesses stance on child abuse?..am i right in thinking that this means that unless there are two witnesses to the child abuse, witnesses are forbidden to go to the police..surely this cannot be so twisted.

Is the victim of an assault not counted as a witness, or does it have to be two seperate people.?

the reason i heard constantly by the elders, as to ones spiritual progress in the organisation was, .
"brothers are appointed by holy spirit.".
if this is the case, why is god speaking to himself when he says in 1 tim 3 v 6 .not a newly converted man, for fear that he might get puffed up with prideetc.. to re-iterate if god appoints elders, why would he give himself this advice ???.

Does that make this elder incredibly stupid, incredibly naive, or incredibly desperate? Is he hated? Is the congregation poor? Totally indifferent, just going through the motions with no charity left in the congregation at all - or some combination of the above?

You asked if they were elderly, he was about 38ish at the time, his wife a few years younger. The public announcement by the way was dinner for himself not his wife

Yes, foolishly some did volunteer. On one occasion his inlaws were having tea and biscuits whilst the volunteered sisters were slaving over a hot stove. The inlaws (the brother being an elder) didn't lift a finger to help.
