Jerusalyim is right. Check Gal. 6:14. Most Christians see the Cross as a symbol of God's love. As Paul said, "But may it never be that I should boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ..." I don't know how much more explicit he could be! The cross is something we should be proud of and not ashamed as the jws seem to be.

I know the earrings sound gawdy, but actually they didn't look that bad. Anyway, is she supposed to be collecting and wearing religious items? She always told me I should not wear my cross necklace. What is the difference? (Other then she does not believe JC died on a cross, but that's for another day.)

The last time I saw my jw mil she had on earrings that had Noah's Ark figures. I heard today that she collects Noah's Ark objects. What is up with this? Wouldn't this be the same as having Jesus pictures or angel statues setting around?

I understand what you are saying. We have become a nation of victims. The courts seem to bend over backwards to protect the rights of a few while the rights of the majority are ignored. Kent said that Christianity is a minority religion and that is true worldwide, but in that stadium at that time I am sure it was not. I am not saying this as a right-winged conservative as I am a registered Democrat who whole-heartedly supported Gore in the last election, but I am concerned as this principal evidently was, with groups like the aclu protecting the rights of a few to the detriment of the majority. Whose rights are we really talking about here? The rights of those that do not want to hear a prayer or the rights of those that do.

Anyway, even though I personally believe in the Trinity, I do not think it is a prerequisite for salvation either. I really don't think God is too concerned about what we think his nature is as long as we strive to do our best and give our fellow human beings help and compassion when it is needed and even sometimes when it is not.

Did you happen to see the press conference with Shaq before the 4th game? He was whinning about how Mutumbo was acting, and that he(Shaq) was not really fouling him. I think Mutumbo is in the wrong profession if that was acting.
Last year when Shaq went up for a shot, he would use his free arm to shove Smits and Davis out of his way. I hate to be cynical, but sometimes I think it all comes down to money and what is best for NBC.

I am afraid you will not find much support for the Trinity on this forum. You might want to try a different web site if you want arguments for the Trinity. I personally believe the Bible teaches it, but I agree with Mulan and Bonnie that it would not be the best topic to use in your desire to help your friend's sister. I have never been a jw, but my husband was and his mother still is. I have had many discussions with both of them about the Trinity, and they just do not get it. Even though my husband knows the WTS is wrong, he still sometimes defends their doctrines and has a very skeptical view of all religions, which I believe comes from his WTS indoctrination.
Even though I do not agree with their doctrines, my biggest problem with the WTS is the overall tone of their words. Have you ever just sat down and read a Watchtower with her? I would ask her if she really believes that kind of LOVE is the same kind of LOVE that Jesus preached. Does she really believe that Jesus would condone that kind of conditional LOVE? I would remind her that Jesus said that he wanted mercy not sacrifice and ask her which one the WTS is asking her to give.

It is funny that you should bring that up. I watched it with my husband (a former baptized jw). When he came home for lunch today and saw that I was on this forum, he asked if anyone had mentioned the show. I had to tell him no at that time. Thanks for mentioning it. It was comical!

i am floundering!.
today my jw son told me that he had seen an email in our family account written to me from an exjw.
it contained very little, but enough to let him know that i was in contact with outsiders about my doubts and feelings.

I am not and never have been a jw, so I am really not in a position to give you advice. However, I am having trouble getting past your son's lack of remorse for reading your mail. Even though it is a family account, if it is addressed to you, he should not have read it. Doesn't he feel guilty about reading something that was not addressed to him and then blackmailing you with it? I am having trouble seeing which is the greater sin.
