We had one elder who always pronounced king Asa as Arse-a.
And as a youngster I couldn't contain myself when I learned there was a place called Nob.
Even now that makes me smile - what a juvenile lol.

i noticed over the years how bros & sis(tm) would pronounce words/names differently or totally substitute them so as not to sound offensive.. egs:.
instead of 'bible aids' a bro(tm) said 'bible helps' thus avoiding aids disease!?!.
instead of sodom the bro(tm) pronounced it 'sow dom'.

any advice about what really works for deep wrinkles/ sun damage?
the new system is not here, and i worked outside for years without adequate protection from the sun.
i don't want to be overly-concerned about looks because we all age.
One woman I knew had so many facelifts, she ended up with a beard.

anyone see that quote in the latest magazine?.
in full it says:.
"since the things are happening today that jesus told us about, we know that we are right at the very doorstep of the new world, the world to come.
Anyone see that quote in the latest magazine?
In full it says:
"Since the things are happening today that Jesus told us about, we know that we are right at the very doorstep of the new world, the world to come. We are moving into the new world. If you try to learn about God in the Bible and try to please Him, you may never die, but move right on into the new world fully and then never have to die."
Oh, sorry, my mistake.
That was actually a quote from the Awake! 1927 8/10 p. 729-733 'Growing Up in a New World on Earth' [by F. W. Franz]

I would LOVE to know what the "..." missed out in the quote:
*** g85 10/22 p. 25 A Historic Landmark Becomes an Assembly Hall for Jehovah’s Witnesses ***
WHEN the new Stanley Theater was opened in Journal Square, Jersey City, on March 24, 1928, it was one of the largest in the United States. Its beauty drew high praises, particularly its exquisite interior with its Italian facade. “If you have ever traveled to Italy, . . . where the picturesque villas and colorful courts remind us of the artistic glory that was Rome’s,” noted one early reporter, “then you can have an inkling of the interior of this new Stanley Theatre.”

my mother gets a call from a dear friend in the midwest.
and this friend begins to tell my mom that her kids who attend congregations in california were told that there "thursday night meeting" or the "theocratic ministry school" is being somewhat cancelled, and that it will be considered "family night".
this would start sometime in the next couple of months.. the reason for this change is to entice the younger generation, because there is a dramatic decrease in attendence at the meetings, and that this in some way would help them to have more interest.. what are your thoughts?
TMS cancelled?
The sisters will LOVE that!

worse than being stupid is thinking you are smart while you are stupid.. i should know.. for many years i was a special category of "stupid"; i was jehovah's witness stupid.. .
what does that entail?
listen and i'll tell you.. ___________________________________________________________.
Quote from the public talk today, which illustrates Terry's post:
"If you go to university you can still end up in a very poorly paid job"
Ok so tell me, If you don't go to university are you more or less likely to get a poorly paid job at the end?
The irony / sadness is, you cannot expect a poorly educated speaker or the poorly educated audience to see the flaw in this reasoning.

i would suggest they are built on 3 legs:.
1- print publications.
2 - real estate.
The WT stool has only one leg.
Unfortuately it's pointing upwards and the dubbies have to take turns sitting on it.

is anyone able to post this years dc badge for printing?.
i'm a man with a plan .
mawahhhhhhh!.
Now if you slipped a bit of paper behind the badge with just a little bit poking out the top saying:
2013 District Convention
ATTENDANT
That would be an 'access all areas"!

how did the watchtower develop "pogonophobia"?
(beard fear) 1950-1960's long hair and beards were a sign of rebelious youth.
then in the 1954 watchtower p.511 questions from readers.
Looks like 'The Truth Shall Make You Free' illustrator had an aversion to belly buttons as well.
