  was talking to an elder about beards.

  he said that at bethel, only black and hispanic brothers can have mustaches (any actual facts supporting this decision?).

  he mentioned that we don't want to stumble anyone so that they won't hear our message.

  Pioneer School - 2 weeks long???

  i talked to my 83 year old pioneer mother over the weekend and she said she's going.

  pioneer school for 2 weeks starting today in lynnwood, wa.

  is that how long they usually are?.

  You get a pioneer book and study it over the two weeks.

  The 2008 edition is still being handed out but needs updating to the 2010 edition.

  i don't think hes dropped a link to it here yet, but cedars has a new blog post up at jwsurvey:.

  its title and content are pretty self-explanatory, and as always, its a fine piece of writing, but one section in particular stuck out to me; the part titled reaching out to inactive ones, and it summarizes the apparent desire of the wts to bring wayward sheep back into the fold.. cedars finds it naive and deluded on the wtss part that it would risk having active jws come into more contact with faders, particularly since faders become faders primarily because theyve discovered the truth about the truth.... ...and hes right; if the wts a genuinely and sincerely reaching out to them, it would be naive and deluded.. .

  (1 Corinthians4:6,7) learn the [rule]: “Do not go beyond the things that are written,” in order that YOU may not be puffed up individually in favour of the one against the other. For who makes you to differ from another?

  (Luke 22:25,26) But he said to them: “The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those having authority over them are called Benefactors. YOU, though, are not to be that way.

  (Matthew 15:3-9) In reply he said to them: “Why is it YOU also overstep the commandment of God because of YOUR tradition? ... And so YOU have made the word of God invalid because of YOUR tradition.   (Jeremiah 10:23,24) to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step. Correct me, O Jehovah...

  The qualifications for appointment are listed clearly in 1 Tim 3 and Titus 1. Unsurprisingly, beards do not get a mention. Did the holy spirit forget to mention the necessity of being clean shaven?

  just what is the purpose for it?

  i can get to all the stuff without an account except with the account i can look up meeting times of a local congo, or conventions, and donate to the wtbts.

  that seems to be it.in fact, once signed in that is all that is available and have to go back to being logged out to get anything else on the site.. what gives?

  Interestingly, the WT itself suggest this beard rule is a violation of our personal right to decide personal matters:

  g92 6/8 p.17 Why Do I Have to Be Different?

  "Males were required to wear beards and were forbidden to cut off their “sidelocks.” (Leviticus 19:27; 21:5) This law was to be heeded even if a Jew didn’t like fringed garments or preferred the clean-shaved look. Now, imagine being told that you had to wear a beard and certain clothing. Would you not resent this as a violation of your personal rights? "

  Depending on your access level you can access km's, boe letters, various forms etc.

  Certain access lets you send info direct back to the soc.

  paragraphs 4 - 8 form a sub-topic entitled "jehovah is generous.".

  Take a look at the interlinear to see how that ought to be translated - the surrounding verses have it correct numerous times.

  The word should be 'believes'.

  i usually dismiss the "drinking the kool aid" scenarios that are posted from time to time, but the latest wt has another bit of fearmongering.

  the quote from page 20, para 17. elders who are reading this article can draw some useful conclusions from the account we have just considered: (1) the most practical step that we can take to prepare for the coming attack of the assyrian is that of strengthening our faith in god and helping our brothers to do the same.

  (2) when the assyrian attacks, the elders must be absolutely convinced that jehovah will deliver us.

  Please help. I am losing the plot.

  after being a witness for 40 years, i now find myself disfellowshipped.. i have had a number of doubts for a few years now, but still feel as if i'm living my life in the "t minus " to armageddon spector.. my parents are in their 80's and my dear mother is in very bad health.

  i was allowed to pop through - about once a month to make sure my parents were ok and for them to see their grandchildren.

  this all ended after the july watchtower article and especially since the district convention - with all the "counsel" on associating with disfellowshipped family members.. around 6 weeks ago, my dad asked me point blank why i wasn't trying to get reinstated.

  Sounds like your dad is harbouring rebellious independent thoughts. Does he not respect the organisational arrangement fir elders? I smell apostacy.

  Lets call it what it is - your dad is indoctrinated and brainwashed. He lives in fear. You cannot reason with a mind which no longer thinks.
