BTW can anyone please tell me how to start a new post? If I click on that RSS thingy it says an error occured
then select a forum and choose "new topic"
just read a post on jwsurvey about the new donation arrangement.
congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.
congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.

*** w59 5/1 p. 285 Sharing the Good News by Contributing Personally ***
BACK in August, 1879, this magazine said: “‘Zion’s Watch Tower’ has, we believe, JEHOVAH for its backer, and while this is the case it will never beg nor petition men for support. When He who says: ‘All the gold and silver of the mountains are mine,’ fails to provide necessary funds, we will understand it to be time to suspend the publication.”
*** w62 5/1 p. 277 How May I Contribute? ***
But because the Watch Tower Society is a charitable organization and because it does not follow the methods of Christendom’s religions, taking up money collections or tithes, there is a good deal of wonderment as to how the Society gets its money and supports itself.
*** w13 7/1 p. 4 Can You Trust Religion Regarding Money? ***
Jehovah’s Witnesses commonly meet in modest buildings called Kingdom Halls. How are expenses covered? They never pass collection plates, nor do they send out envelopes to solicit donations. Rather, any who appreciate the spiritual program can discreetly place a donation in a contribution box at the Kingdom Hall.
(2 Timothy 3:1, 2)
But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money...
as a few of you may remember, i suffer from bipolar.. when working at the uk home office, i was signed off by my doctor with depression and anxiety.. in the space of 11 months i was assessed by 2 home office doctors, both diagnosing me as unfit for work.
i eventually left.. how therefore, can stupid little people in the kh say you'll be better doing fs, ministry school and being regular at meetings??.
they have to be the most un-empathetic bunch of people on the planet.
Suffering with grief? Depression? Illness? Old age? Unemployment? Abuse at home? Family problems?
The WT has a single solution to every problem: Do More!
And if you aren't suffering at all then you should also Do More!

i seem to recall that there was an assistance fund set up for insurance on kingdom halls that were essentially set up as insurance.. where you were not to insure the khs by normal insurance companies.does anyone know about this and does any kh claim againt the fund i.e.
the watchtower?.
sounds like a scam!.
The personal injury payout limits are derisory.
It's something like £2000 if you lose an arm or leg.
If it happened to me I'd have to sue to get the rest of the compensation I was due - It might mean I could never work again so I'd need enuogh to live on for the rest of my life.

i wanted to give this very public shout-out and congratulations to alltimejeff, who i have come to find out had turned in his letter of da, twice, then was read out at the meeting recently.
for those not knowing, atf was a 2005 gilead graduate, bethelite, missionary.
they mean the leadership.
never a jw The problem is that it all sounds like opinion without supporting evidence.
What's to disbelieve?
One of the wackiest statements made in that post was about Elijah and Elisha foreshadowing Rutherford and Knorr.
But you don't need to search far to see that it's a teaching of the WT:
*** yb73 pp. 60-61 Brazil *** BEGINNING OF THE ELISHA PERIOD
"Just as the work of Elijah the prophet came to its close and was succeeded by the zealous activity of Elisha his successor, so also, following a period of witnessing comparable to that of Elijah, a new push seemed to be given to the activities of the brothers here in Brazil. Though the death of Brother Rutherford, the second president of the Society, came as a shock to the brothers, their heavy hearts were lightened when they learned that Nathan H. Knorr had been appointed as the new president of the Society."
Or maybe you disagree with his comments on being mature / immature?
Again, going to a kingdom hall will provide you with the evidence for this also.

i am not hot linking to jw borg, but they have a whole section for obviously very small children (become j's friend, with a whole array of caleb-related stuff).
i have actually never visited the site, today was the first time, because i wanted to check a technical information about their websites architecture and came across this sh*t!.
the way they are targeting small kids is nauseating me (i have a 5 year old, still in with her mother).
It shows where the WT is placing it's focus now.

if you can find a quote saying that if a person stop attending the meetings because they are guilty of wrongdoing, etc... i will appreciate it.
.
Iamallcool - your question doesn't make sense, I do not know what you are looking for.

we received an email and are wondering if anyone can verify this little tidbit of news.
does anyone know if this is true or not?.
maybe any elder's on here?.
LongHairGal This will surely check the hand of aggressive, zealot elders.
It will, but only after there's a high profile case of an elder being prosecuted.
Until then they will still believe they are the untouchables.

i have been dropping comments to a few re some classic old beliefs and teachings etc... and when asked "where did you read that, or how come you are saying such and such?
" i have replied "well, you remember we have often been told to study and research our old 'theocratic history' and 'old gems' of material?....
now though i have been challenged to prove where this has been printed!.
Another line of reasoning is that the WT itself often refers us back to older publications:
*** w2011 2/15 p. 31 Do You Hate Lawlessness? ***
For a detailed discussion of this subject, see the September 15, 1981, issue of The Watchtower, pages 26-31
*** w07 6/1 p. 14 From Scroll to Codex—How the Bible Became a Book ***
See the article “The Early Christian Codex,” in the August 15, 1962, issue of The Watchtower, pages 501-5.
*** w07 9/1 p. 10 With Jehovah’s Help, We Survived Totalitarian Regimes ***
See the life story of Elsa Abt in The Watchtower, April 15, 1980, pages 12-15.
*** w03 10/1 p. 19 Endurance Under Trials Brings Praise to Jehovah ***
see the 1974 Yearbook of Jehovah’s Witnesses, pages 208-9
You might also ask "at what point should I no longer believe the publications? - At what age do they become unmentionable?"
Depending on how they answer you can add "So when will today's WT instructions become old light that we are to dismiss?"
