JWS CELEBRATE 100 YEARS SINCE 1914: HAPPY BIRTHDAY 1914 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
by steve2 inthe us edition of the june kingdom ministry urges the still-active witnesses to get out and preach in august saying that it is fitting because the anniversary of the start of the time of the end will be in that month.
what arch hypocrites!.
they won't allow children to have birthdays but they celebrate a date on a calendar that suits their doctrinal purpose...which is itself virtually the "birthday" of the start of the time of the end - according to their doctrine.. perhaps the "celebrations" will backfire when they try to load 100 candles on the celebratory cake and there will be a huge burnout of faith in this man-made date.. besides, the organization was incorporated in 1876 - decades before 1914.. there may well be moments of unease when the few witnesses with operating brain cells realize the organization has kept them in panic-mode to urgently preach about an end that never comes.

Zoos I think most JWs have not given any real thought to the significance of it being 100 years later... that there are only 900 years left of Christi's reign... that they were supposed to have an entire 1000 years to grow to perfection, but they're still dying.
You are correct, of course, but this is not what JW's believe.
This 100 years of Christ's reign is not part of his 1000 year rule. They are quite different!
Christ can rule for as long as he likes, before he rules for 1000 years.
Now does it make sense?

New donation arrangement - double the contributions
by Splash inin the march 29th 2014 boe letter to be read to the congregations, this new donation arrangement is stated to be "an adjustment to financing kingdom hall and assembly hall construction worldwide".. this arrangement will remove the low-receipt kingdom hall construction worldwide (khcw) contribution boxes from kingdom halls.. incidentally, this used to be called the society kingdom hall fund (skhf) but this too never received very many contributions, even after it was rebranded and relaunched as khcw.. so how to increase revenues - another relaunch.. this time the voluntary and anonymous aspect is being focussed on, with a 'group responsibility' mindset instead.. don't ask the individuals to think about and contributing, ask the congregation as a whole, then fix it into a bank payment so it never gets forgotten and never decreases.. so why is this thread called 'double contribution'?.
the letter to be read says that this money will be used to "support the construction of theocratic facilities wherever they are needed".. so how does this differ from the worldwide work contribution box, according to a 2005 kingdom ministry?.

In the March 29th 2014 BoE letter to be read to the congregations, this new donation arrangement is stated to be "an adjustment to financing Kingdom Hall and Assembly Hall construction worldwide".
This arrangement will remove the low-receipt Kingdom Hall Construction Worldwide (KHCW) contribution boxes from kingdom halls.
Incidentally, this used to be called the Society Kingdom Hall Fund (SKHF) but this too never received very many contributions, even after it was rebranded and relaunched as KHCW.So how to increase revenues - another relaunch.
This time the voluntary and anonymous aspect is being focussed on, with a 'group responsibility' mindset instead.
Don't ask the individuals to think about and contributing, ask the congregation as a whole, then fix it into a bank payment so it never gets forgotten and never decreases. So why is this thread called 'double contribution'?
The letter to be read says that this money will be used to "support the construction of theocratic facilities wherever they are needed".
So how does this differ from the Worldwide Work contribution box, according to a 2005 Kingdom Ministry?*** km 4/05 p. 1 par. 2 Do Good and Share With Others ***
One way we can benefit others is by sharing our “valuable things.” (Prov. 3:9) Our contributions to the worldwide work make it possible for Kingdom Halls, Assembly Halls, and branch facilities to be built throughout the world. So essentially, there will now be a contribution box AND a monthly congregation bank order to send money to the Society, which will be used for the vague purpose of constructing "theocratic facilities", whatever that may include.
Like docile sheep, JW's have been fleeced for decades. It's only getting more intense.
My suggestion, if there's any opportunity to ask questions on the night, is to publicly ask "If we already donate to the worldwide work which is also used to build facilities, what's the difference between that and this new arrangement? Why do we need to donate to both?"
Even if there is no opportunity to ask this publicly, discuss it privately after the announcement.
You never know, a simple thought like this might get congregation members reasoning for themselves, after all, JW's are notoriously tight fisted when they can reason their way out of spending money.

How many congregations will put names on the confidential and anonymous survey, to see who is pledging how much.
Elders rarely abide by the letter when they have had a 'better' idea.

The genius of the new donation arrangement
by thedepressedsoul inive given this new arrangement a lot of detailed thought and how greatly it benefits the wt and how much it puts a strain on each congregation.. first, let me explain how the old arrangement worked.. you had 3 donation boxes in each kingdom hall.
one for worldwide work, one for kingdom hall construction and one for congregation contributions.. the congregation contribution box accounted for about 60-75% of all donations.
the world wide work box probably accounted for 20-30% and the kingdom hall construction for about 5% of the contributions.

And it's not just Candace Conti who's got them excited.
As far as I'm aware, the Australian Branch were recently summoned to the Australian Royal Commission investigation that is taking place there, to tell their side of the story.
If this goes bad for them in Australia, there's going to be a pretty hefty compensation bill at the end of it. Better to fill the coffers now, before the congregations wake up to the fact that WT are no different to all the other religions and quit donating altogether.

if the wt ever changes, it will be because of a movement such as this.. .

Your Experience with Resigning as an Elder
by committeechairman ini'm considering resigning as an elder.
i'm not planning to fade or stop as one of jehovah's witnesses, just stop serving as an elder.. i have responsibility in the congregation and in circuit, district, rbc, etc.
and i'm completely exhausted.

My experience is that the BOE will of course ask if you have done anything wrong that they should know about, they seem perpetually suspicious like that.
Then they will often to lighten the load for a while, enticing you to stay on.
They will also ask you to reconsider and delay accepting your resignation, after all, think of the paperwork and the questions from the C.O.!
If you stick to your story and to your guns, you will get that relief.
The short term interrogations and pain are well worth it.
When there's an announcement that "could the elders meet after the meeting" then I promise you will leave the hall smiling. And when you decide to have a lazy Saturday morning in bed 'without fear', you will know your life is better.
The congregation will still respect you, and any animosity from other elders will purely be jealousy. Leave them to it.

kingdom hall ownership
by alfredjones100 ini know that thoughout other threads and comments, some of this question could be answered but; what in countries are kingdom halls owned by the local congregations?
here in australia, everything is already owned by the organisation..

If the WT are trustees, they do not have ownership or buying/selling rights, that remains with the congregation trustees (elders).
If the Soc has provided a loan and they are on the deeds to the Kingdom Hall, then that could be altogether different.

I wonder if there will be a column on the new time form for the number of hours spent in Family Worship.
This would make it easy to see who's doing it and who isn't.
