  What are the Core Teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses?

  recently someone asked me to define what core teachings have such a hold on jdubs that they have trouble breaking free.

  trying to single out the driving force that keeps them in the borg, this is what popped into my head:.

  obviously there are lots and lots of wacky things the jdubs teach/believe/pretend to believe.

  How many of these 'core' teachings come from before 1919 when the FDS were appointed?

  Since the FDS arrived we've not had anything remain consistent. The non-FDS Russell has a better track record.

  Any elders out there? How to Local needs talks work?

  so a local needs talk was lovingly given at our hall last week that i'm positive targeted me specifically.

  it had to do with missing meetings for work.

  they even had a demo on what we should do if our boss asks us to stay overtime on a meeting night (basically say "no" and risk losing your great job which you have no desire whatsoever to lose)... so i'm aware that there's a sort of protocol the elders follow when someone in the hall needs to work on something.

  The only one in the congregation who will remember that talk 10 minutes after the meeting has finished is you.

  Everyone sits in a stupor, engaging their automatic clapping and smiling. Nothing goes in because there's nothing to go in.

  Forget it - it's over with.

  " the greek word means "witness.".

  If a martyr is someone who dies for their faith, I imagine that there were martyrs 1,000's years prior to the 1st century.

  i have a family member that will not believe that the jws put a dinosaur in the front cover of thier bible.

  i am looking for a copy that has that map inside front cover with the raptor.

  if anyone has one they can sell let me know.

  On that same cloth, are there three letters above his calf, shin, ankle?

  Is the first letter "S" and the last one "X"?

  They run along his thigh and first look like dark patches.

  He was asked to come and answer questions about the WT which he is clearly able to do!

  i read somewhere on the internet (don't recall what site it was) that jw's donations are going towards sexual abuse cases.. is this true?.

  where can i find solid evidence regarding this matter?.

  So the WTBTS is just the same as the Catholic Church, and purchases sex offender insurance?

  I'm not sure that you are making it sound any better!

  Besides, when you look at the Candace Conti case, it's WT money that is on the table - no mention of insurances.

  I can see why you would wish this statement to be true, but your wishing does not make it true.

  Either the money comes from the general contributions fund known as Worldwide Work, or they have a specific fund to pay millions to victims.
  Which do you think it is?

  Don't want any of that crazy old 'light' being available!
