i'm looking for a link to where he actually lied on jw broadcasting about the bible students "not knowing exactly what was going to happen in 1914".. thanks for any help.

DATA-DOG Isn't there a WT article about stating information in a way that is misleading?
Did you mean one of these?
*** jd chap. 9 p. 115
par. 9 Dealing With Others as God Desires ***
"When
a Christian phrases things in such a way that he inwardly knows is leading
brothers to a wrong conclusion, to believe something that is really not true,
not accurate, how do you think God feels?"
"… really, would you
want to be even associated with a religion that had not been honest with
you?" Is This Life All There Is? p.46
"Jehovah's Witnesses are an
organization of truth. We should want to speak the truth and be absolutely
accurate in every detail at all times. This should be so not only as regards
doctrine but also in our quotations. (Theocratic
Ministry School Guidebook, p 110)"
thanks to jw archive wiki we have a pdf of the new elders book.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/mz9z38909t3fh7c/2012-shepherd-the-flock-of-god-ks10_e.pdf?dl=0.
Page 116 has this interesting directive on disfellowshipping that I was not aware of:
6. If members of the congregation are known to have undue association with disfellowshipped or disassociated relatives who are not in the household, elders should counsel and reason with those members of the congregation from the Scriptures.
If it is clear that a Christian is violating the spirit of the disfellowshipping decree in this regard and does not respond to counsel, it may be that he would not qualify for congregation privileges, which require one to be exemplary. He would not be dealt with judicially unless there is persistent spiritual association or he openly criticizes the disfellowshipping decision.
So you CAN associate with disfellowshipped relatives without fear of being DF'd yourself, so long as you don't discuss spiritual things!
bobcat's recent post has led to this article in mar 15, 2015 wt, pp 7-11, par 9, 10:.
for many years, gods people found this approach to bible accounts faith strengthening.
why, then, have things changed?10 as we might expect, over the years jehovah has helped the faithful and discreet slave to become steadily more discreet.
10 As we might expect, over the years Jehovah has helped “the faithful and discreet slave” to become steadily more discreet.
The discretion gets brighter and brighter.
What verse is that again?
hello again folks - as promised in my last thread here, i've been working on turning yearbook statistics into excel spreadsheets.. coincidentally, today is my 25th birthday (spare a thought for a fader).. i've now updated the spreadsheet with yearbook data all the way back to 1988 (the year i was born), therefore it now contains 25 years of statistics.. there were a lot of countries changing around and for some it was possible to create a continuation of data.
some are a simple change of name like south-west africa to namibia.
others, for example - in 1993 with czechoslovakia splitting into two countries (czech republic and slovakia) i have added an extra row that provides a continuation of the data, combining czech republic and slovakia back together as if they were still one country.
Since 2000 there have been 3.8 million baptised.
The increase since 2000 is 2.1 million.
What happened to the missing 1.7 million?
they just put up the march km 2014 on the private website.
most of it is same-old-same-old, with info here and there about the memorial.. somebody here might post the march km for all to see, i wont.. i just wanted to share the paragraph from page 2 q&a anticle: will you seize the opportunity?
upcoming memorial enables us to show gratitude .
Still one day left before another failed 'suggestion'.
Maybe last years memorial wasn't going to be the last one after all, despite WT's crafty insinuations.
what is the wackiest...strangest....most unusual jw teaching or practice?
For me it's Rev 20:12 "and scrolls were opened".
Millions of JW's read this verse, then read the WT which says "These NEW scrolls..." so millions of JW's think the Bible says 'new' scrolls.
How can you read something so obviously simple, then instantly misunderstand it?
The context, the words, the meaning. It's so simple, yet they just can't see it. Blind, totally blind.
Also,
Jesus without a beard was nuts.
Pictures of a snake with legs (in Eden) was nuts.
Women being turned into men in the new system was barmy (g30 4/2 p.446)
The 8 flip-flops as to Mt 24:14 already being fulfilled is insane.
The 37 different interpretations of who the false apostles are (2Cor 11:13) is mind blowing.
That bobbed hair leads to baldness - g24 11/19 p.100.
That babies pacifiers (dummies) give them tonsilitis, and ultra violet rays are healing.
The 10 different definitions of the F&DS.
Then there was when they said that spirit mediums grew tentacles, and spirits lived among us wearing tweed and drinking whisky but were not able to bleed ("Talking with the Dead" p. 116-126).
Oh yeah, just remembered "overlapping generations"!
When will the madness end?
i have a 2011 new year resolution to avoid reading jw literature or watch their videos.i am not "religious" about it, and will watch/read excerpts, but pretty much stick with that resolution as it only angers me when i read the stuff.. well, someone posted their video of philippines disaster relief due to a 2013 typhoon as a response to a news article to demonstrate that they are not really helping and that it is just propaganda.
i watched the video and was immediately able to see what the hell is wrong with jw's and their leadership and, as i figured- i was angered.. so i will post this link, but then go back to not watching/reading.
it just isn't worth it.. in the video, when they knew the storm was coming, the pre-planned disaster relief people texted elders to warn them to evacuate.
Even if some crazy person did throw out all their food in order to put books into a fridge, would you even feature that???
That says so much about the unbalanced view they seek to cultivate of WT vs lives.
i was listening through the 138th gilead graduation program on tv.jw.orghttp://tv.jw.org/#video/vodprogramsevents/pub-jwbgg_e_201503_1_video.
listen from 12.08..... isn`t this kingdom song somewhat different from others, being more upbeat and lively than usual?kind of new sound by jws terms.
Sounds like a song from a show.
Once it arrives at kingdom halls I'd expect it to be piano only and therefore less lively.
Incidentally, is Geoffrey Jackson putting on a bit of weight? That's an impressive double chin he's starting to grow.
Add Mark Sanderson to that observation too.
when i was a kid i would hear religious songs on tv and start sining them... not knowing they were church songs... one day i started singing the hallelujah song (not sure the exact name of the song) my father quickly gave me a hard slap on the mouth and said if i ever sang that song again he would take his belt off and beat my butt until it was red!.
well fast forward 30 years..... the public speaker was missing today and so tv.jw>org to the rescue.... instead they decided to play the new video about the last hundred years since 1914.. instantly the hall was filled with the exact same song i was punished for!
yes a church song filled the hall for almost 5 minutes as we watch br.
They admitted that their teachings were corrupt back then, but it's all good now - at least since the 1950's.
