An ex-JW ex-elder coming up onto the stand soon.
Wonder how many of the myths he'll blow apart!
there is so much information on the website of the hearing.
you can find the full transcripts of each day there as pdf.. but also the evidence list is very interresting.
it contains many confidential letters from congregations but also from the hq to branch offices.. the full list can be seen here: http://www.childabuseroyalcommission.gov.au/exhibits/636f01a5-50db-4b59-a35e-a24ae07fb0ad/case-study-29,-july-2015,-sydney.

since the responds was very positive and because of the "cliffhanger" from day 2, i decided to record day 3 as well.. part 1 has been uploaded and part 2,3 and 4 will soon be available.. part 1: .

(it will take a little while before 1080p becomes available as youtube processes the video.).

These recordings will be archived for posterity and snippets from them will appear for years and years to come.
This will trump the UN letters, the 1975 convention recordings, the early WT writings and all other evidences of WT duplicity, harm and cover ups.
Forever more all these quotes will be levelled at them, for their persisting shame.
on other discussion boards where active jws participate i notice them deflecting questions about the royal commission in australia by bringing up child abuse statistics of other churches, ostensibly to demonstrate that there is nothing news worthy to see here... "move along!".
they are trying to make this story disappear into obscurity, irrelevance, as if it's just part and parcel of big institutional life, particularly of the religious nature.
oh, now they compare themselves to every other religion on the block?.
*** w12 5/1 p. 16 What Is the Good News About Religion? ***
1. Is all religion good? Many religious groups include sincere people who want to please God. He sees those people and cares about them. Sadly, though, some people have used religion for evil purposes. [. . .] Today, according to news reports, some religious leaders have encouraged terrorism or supported war, or they have been involved in child abuse.
They are speaking about themselves!
They are saying that those who have been involved in child abuse are evil and not a good religion!
*** w07 3/1 p. 4 Does It Matter Which Religion You Choose? ***
Since many religions arose from a desire for political power, prestige, and popular acceptance rather than a desire to please God, it is no surprise that religion is involved in such badness as child abuse, fraud, war, or terrorism. All too often, religion is a sham. How can you avoid being deceived?
hi folks.
new here, and growing weary of finding an e-text version of one of the earlier releases of the new world translation.
i have searched high and low, and for some reason, it is as if it does not exist.. i'm catholic, but for research purposes and as a courtesy to jws, i've put the 1984 and the 2013 versions in a database format for e-sword (e-sword.net).

When the woman questioned Ali she almost asked two great questions, but failed.
She should have asked
1. Is the most important reason for disfellowshipping to protect the victim or keep the congregation clean? (Shepherd book p. 38 only speaks of keeping the congregation clean)
2. By disfellowshipping the abuser, would this not prove that the procedures and holy spirit made a mistake when it recommended a practising abuser be appointed to a position of Ministerial Servant? How could that be allowed to happen?
I also wonder if they know about this clause on p.38 in the Shepherd book:
"If it comes to light or an appointed brother confesses that he has committed a disfellowshipping offense years in the past: The body of elders may determine he can continue to serve if the following is true: The immorality or other serious wrongdoing occurred more than a few years ago, and he is genuinely repentant, recognizing that he should have come forward immediately when he sinned. (Perhaps he has even confessed to his sin, seeking help with his guilty conscience.) He has been serving faithfully for many years, has evidence of God’s blessing, and has the respect of the congregation."

the daily telegraph is a well respected newspaper, probably not what most jw's would buy but certainly read by opinion formers and the so called 'chattering classes'.
hopefully the news will start to get more mainstream coverage soon.. daily telegraph news story.. i've not been able to catch up on day 3 yet but aside from all this negative publicity, which will inevitably fade in time, the precedents set must be very worrying for all appointed men and wt branches.
it's brown trousers time guys!.
That link is to the Australian Daily Telegraph.
The UK Daily Telegraph also ran a story though.
i am hoping someone may be able to give me some guidance on behalf of my son.
my ex-wife, who remains a jw, is threatening to go to court to get visitation with our 5 year old grandchild.
she had regular visits with our grandchild, but when my son (no longer a jw) and his wife (never a jw) found out that his mother was teaching their daughter the jw religion without their permission and even telling our grandchild not to tell their parents... well to say the least, that was a game-changer.
well i was loathe to start a new thread on the australian royal commission, but i've been reading in thread after thread how jw's are trying to dismiss what's happening with "it's persecution".. if anyone says this to you, just respond "it's not persecution, it's accountability.
they are being called to explain their procedures, and nothing more.".
persecution is hostility against someones religion.this is not against the jw religion, it's against procedures that jw's champion as being 'the best in the world' when in reality, and with a little analysis are proving to be among the most harmful.

This is not against the JW religion, it's against procedures that JW's champion as being 'the best in the world' when in reality, and with a little analysis are proving to be among the most harmful. Even the elders and CO's being questioned agree with this.
If someone tells me it's persecution, I'll ask them if they think the abused children were treated more kindly by the JW procedures (being made to face their abusers etc) or if they were treated more kindly by the worlds procedures which saw their abusers put where they could no longer harm anyone.
I'll also ask if it is right that 1000+ known child abusers should escape punishment and remain hidden within the congregations.
It's not persecution, it's taking responsibility for choices they have proudly made.
