hi, i just joined the board and wanted to present myself.. i'm active, in fact very active in congregation activities serving "where the need is great" in a foreign language congregation somewhere in western europe.

as a young brother, i'm seen as an example as i'm doing all a good witness should do.. i had doubts years ago but i decided just to ignore them and move to another congregation to preach more.

that worked for some years but i'm now at the exact same point.

Hi thewalker. The feelings of confusion, guilt, disappointment, fear - they are common to many of us here.

There's no cure, only working things out for yourself, what you see and hear, what you are taught, what you believe.

If you've been lurking then you know what this site is all about.
Most here have been through all the emotions and decided the WT has many lovely people in it, but the teachings are becoming more and more difficult to believe, and the leadership more and more disconnected from reality.

For something that demands to control every aspect of my life I need it to be flawless, and the WT is clearly demonstrating hypocrisy, unkindness and that it has lost its way.

I hope you find what you're searching for.

music and art have been a big part of my life since i was a little boy, and although i was never able to play a decent guitar, i can paint.

my art teacher from college said " i was the most imaginative and constructive pupil she had ever had.

" i loved that comment, because in translation i realised it meant i had to work harder than other more naturally talented students, but the effort was always worth it.

Correlation decline JW numbers and JW broadcasting?

i read some impressive figures here about the decline of the jw numbers in 2015.. could there be a correlation between this decline and the start of jw broadcasting?.

hence, that there would be an negative impact because the gb is standing so nearby, you can experience the idiot reasoning of their doctrines sitting in your own living room?.

2016 WT printing reduction - Figures

the wt has been reducing it's printed output of the public wt magazine since 2012.this is how the figures breakdown:.

by 2016 the public wt has only 16 pages and is being printed only on alternate months.943,792,000 pages x 6 times per year = 5,662,752,000 (5.7 billion pages per year).

How much money does the society save by not printing 10.5 billion pages each year?

Note, this is the public WT only and does not include the Awake! which has also undergone a dramatic reduction.

Cofty, in your explanation you equate food sacrificed to idols with idolatry, I'm guessing by linking Acts 15 to Leviticus 17.

Was there any other reason you did this, e.g. alternative translation, etc.?

All these doubts were sly tactics of the GB, not Satan, and my doubts have since been proven right.

My last doubt is that the GB know what they are talking about and that JW's have God's blessing.

Cliff Notes on Construction Halt/Bethel Layoffs

i don't follow the board nearly as closely as i did years ago and i've only seen scattered and seemingly contradictory threads on construction delays and bethel layoffs.. anyone care to briefly summarize the latest for those of us who haven't closely followed the various threads?

if recent intel is true, there is only a .23% increase worldwide in 2015. .

notice what is increasing is not the average publisher count, according to the above watchtower quote to spin the bethel downsizing, but the work.

If by 'expanding' they mean stagnating, and if by 'accelerated' they mean stagnating, then I think they are right.

2015 Worldwide Memorial Attendance: Another Sign of Decline

jw memorial attendance last year - 2014 - was about 50,000 shy of 20 million.

some posters on this forum had confidently predicted before the 2014 memorial that attendance would hit more than 20 milion.

they were wrong.. now, in 2015, and the memorial falling on a weekend night (where attendance is historically much higher), attendance has not only failed to top 20 milion but has declined by more than 87,000 in attendance over 2014:.

Presumably it's got worse since then.

Here's an example that happened in my k.hall recently.

I was telling someone about my long-term plans, and this person is a very zealous publisher.
They remarked loudly "You won't be doing that, Armageddon will be here soon!"

Everybody, and I mean 'everybody' in hearing distance turned to look at us and openly started laughing.

My response was "they told that to my mother and my grandmother. I think we know better by now, don't we."
