"Likewise it is possible to spend valuable time speculating on matters concerning the future. One might ask,
In what year will Armageddon begin?
Will the faithful angels eventually receive immortality?
Will there be factories and machines in use after Armageddon?
Will men wear beards again?
What will be the medium of exchange in the new world?
Will women now past the age of childbearing share in the procreation mandate?
If dedicated parents and children happen to die before Armageddon, which parent will raise the resurrected children, since resurrected mates will not remarry? (Luke 20:35)
These are typical questions to which Jehovah has not provided answers at this time. Do you think it wise for Christians to take time from more profitable Bible study to speculate on the answers? "
i just came across this gem on "the chatanoogan"... it was an ad/article about the 2013 dc at the nw georgia trade & convention center arena .... what i found most interesting was the fluff at the end of the article.... fast facts - jehovah's witnesses worldwide.

Incidentally, the number baptised since 2000 is 3,236,610.
The increase since 2000 is 1,664,680.

Jeffro: According to the JW 2012 and 2013 Yearbooks, the increase in the number of peak publishers from 2011 to 2012 was 123327.
Yet they report that the number baptised was 268777.
This means that about 145450 stopped reporting.
This is one of the few times in the Soc's history that the number who stopped reporting exceeded the increase in peak publishers.
It also happened a lot in the years after 1975.

...because it's now an art gallery.. it was really strange to have a look around the building and see what they have done with it.
a lot of the old kh features are still there.
they have kept the old platform, it gets used as a music venue on occasions.. i went up on the platform and faced the hall to bring back memories of the hundreds of times i stood there giving talks.. they have quite a few of the old chairs and the magazine/literature counter is still there but it has been moved beside the stage and painted.. all those huge windows have been restored and the place is full of light.. you can see a lot of pictures at their website, they have called it "the berwick watchtower".. the owner asked my wife and i if it was our first visit - hahaha.
Aaah. This reminded me of another WT flip flop:
YES: -- w02 10/15 p. 27 Questions From Readers
Would it be a form of interfaith to purchase a building from another religious group and convert it into a Kingdom Hall?
[Picture on page 27] This building, which was a synagogue, was purchased and renovated into a Kingdom Hall
NO: -- w99 3/15 p. 24 Building on Pagan Foundation
AMONG the many impressive monuments that are visited by tourists to Rome, Italy, is the Pantheon. The Pantheon was originally a pagan temple, a "place for all gods," which is the meaning of the original Greek word. Today, it is still considered a Roman Catholic church.
It ought to be obvious, however, that changing the dedication of a temple or the name of a celebration is not sufficient to transform the ‘worship of devils into the service of the true God.’ "What agreement does God’s temple have with idols?" asked the apostle Paul. "‘Get out from among them, and separate yourselves,’ says Jehovah, ‘and quit touching the unclean thing’
YES: -- g96 9/8 p. 31 Why the Chapels Are Closing
The list serves as an epitome of the collapse of religion’s influence, not only in Wales but in many parts of Europe. Sixty-eight chapels were listed as "now demolished." One that was not listed, in Penygraig, was converted many years ago into a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses for the flourishing Rhondda Congregation.
YES: -- jv (1993) chap. 16 p. 251 Meetings for Worship, Instruction, and Encouragement
In a few instances, they later purchased buildings that had formerly been used by other religious groups and made use of these on a regular basis. That was the case with the Brooklyn Tabernacle and the London Tabernacle.
YES: -- yb78 p. 117 The Philippines
The chapel was converted into a Kingdom Hall and this was the start of the Biñan Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
YES - (From the Guardian newspaper, 11 September 2012 )
" The Berwick Watchtower, a brand new gallery and arts centre, has just opened in Tweedmouth. Originally built as a Presbyterian church in 1848, the turreted building on the south bank of the Tweed was, more recently (1972), the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses, who blocked up all the windows."
Summary: It is ok for JW's to convert a religious building into a Kingdom Hall, but it is not ok for any other religion to convert a religious building for themselves.

as a result of attending my grandma's funeral, i saw some of the "old friends" from my home congregation where i grew up.
i saw only one jw at the funeral, but others sent email/text as to why they couldn't attend (spiritual activities).
this sister who attended, is considered spiritually weak (her comments are read directly from the watchtower, puts in a couple hours a month, has an unbeleiving mate but both are happy, never pioneers, doesn't show up for fs because the co is in town ect...), but she made the effort to come by and be with my family during our time of mourning.. with the brief encounter i had with some of the other jw's, they were all wondering if i'd come back to the khall to help and 'build' up the congregation.
A persons spirituality is measured by three things:
1. The hours they spend in field service
2. How much underlining they have in their study books/mags
3. How loud they sing at the Hall
All of these things are public and measurable.

the meetings are getting more boring to me.
some of the elders during their parts just talk and talk and talk about uninteresting things.
boring, boring.
There are approximately 2,000 new congregations created every year.
If a congregation needs 5 elders and 5 servants, that's an extra 20,000 appointed men needed every year.
It's not happening.

Same talk for us James.
Elders getting so old that every item is a struggle for them, and few to pick up the slack.
We've not had an elder appointed in our cong for 16 or 17 years.
None of the younger brothers are encouraged or trained, just told to Reach Out. It's not going to work.

this may come as a shock to some people, but the current forum structure was kind of thrown together without much real thought and then evolved a bit over time.
there are a few things that particularly grate on me and areas where i don't think the subjects work particularly well.
'friends' is a bit vague and becomes a dumping ground, news & world events vs politics & current affairs is hard to decide sometimes, child abuse is a scandal but isn't contained withing 'scandals & coverups' etc.... with a new forum platform imminent, it's a good time to solicit ideas to improve things.
I've seen something on other forums that I'd love to see on here.
On the home page there's a bit at the bottom saying "Members logged in now are:", then lists who's logged in, and then it has "Guests viewing" and gives a number of current non-members who are online viewing the forums.
It would be great to se this.

a lot of the rank and file at the meetings seem to think some of the changes make more sense but what is the most damning of the changes that may help to wake to some up.
some thing the rank and file will not first see or understand as a big deal?.
So, Cedars,
It seems Christ has never left since 1919, since he is continually adding and removing members of the 'slave', even up to last year.
In which case, in what sense will Christ be "the master on arriving", since he never went away ?
