I don't think the GB are into making unnecessary rules.

i think we all know the reason millions of less hours.
when i was in we went to a rv by the kingdom hall then drove 30 minutes out to the country to knock on a door then back to the city for one more door.
god must be so proud!

i struggled with this question before i got baptised.
what helped you to overcome any doubts?.
SFPW Jesus said to keep on the watch, and that's what those faithful brothers have done throughout the years.
Keeping on the watch and giving false hope/promises that armageddon is imminent are two very different things.
If my smoke detector went off every day I would not be grateful that there 'might' be a fire. I would throw it away as clearly defective.
If the manufacturer of that smoke detector also made other items which kept failing, I would no longer buy from that manufacturer.

it cracks me up if you bring this subject up to a witness , they always try to convince themselves that i'm reading into this!!!.

-- w99 3/15 p. 24 Building on Pagan Foundation
AMONG the many impressive monuments that are visited by tourists to Rome, Italy, is the Pantheon. The Pantheon was originally a pagan temple, a "place for all gods," which is the meaning of the original Greek word. Today, it is still considered a Roman Catholic church.
It ought to be obvious, however, that changing the dedication of a temple or the name of a celebration is not sufficient to transform the ‘worship of devils into the service of the true God.’ "What agreement does God’s temple have with idols?" asked the apostle Paul. "‘Get out from among them, and separate yourselves,’ says Jehovah, ‘and quit touching the unclean thing’
Basically saying that once a building is dedicated, it can never be re-dedicated to another use, especially religiously.

Theres been 2 updates to it already.
there are several disturbing things that were said in the latest annual meeting.
one of the most disturbing was a comment made by david splane.
he made reference to how the clergy "howled" when the first new world bible translation committee produced the first nwt.
They did not deign to recognise they are standing on the shoulders of giants.

that text reminds me of one of a handful of problems peculiar to the ex-jw community.
second only to the wild beast's internal divisions, is the divided makeup of the ex-jw populace.
you know the one thing that indicates jehovah's blessing upon the worldwide association of kingdom proclaimers, is not only the continued success of the preaching work, but along with it the unity and love amongst the brothers and sisters.
Stand for Pure Worship: Second only to the Wild Beast's internal divisions, is the divided makeup of the ex-JW populace.
Like many others on this board I still am a practising, teaching JW, complete with grey Bible.
The internal divisions you speak of and happily attribute to ex-JW's are actually within the religion as well.
As you so correctly quoted, a house divided against itself will fall.

good morning folks!
i have believed in the 1914 jw core teaching for more than 20 years.
but now, after seeing much about this date, i find it uncomfortable and odd to believe it unquestionably, much less defend it against opposing thoughts.
There's the account of Stephen being stoned:
(Ac 7:55, 56) But he, being full of holy spirit, gazed into heaven and caught sight of God’s glory and of Jesus standing at God’s right hand, 56 and he said: “Look! I behold the heavens opened up and the Son of man standing at God’s right hand.
And Jesus final instructions after his resurrection:
(Mt 28:18, 19) And Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying: “All authority has been given me in heaven and on the earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations. . .
Lots of references to already sitting at God's right hand:
(Ro 8:34) Who is he that will condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died, yes, rather the one who was raised up from the dead, who is on the right hand of God, who also pleads for us.
(Eph 1:20) with which he has operated in the case of the Christ when he raised him up from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places,
(Col 3:1) If, however, YOU were raised up with the Christ, go on seeking the things above, where the Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
(Heb 1:3) He is the reflection of [his] glory and the exact representation of his very being, and he sustains all things by the word of his power; and after he had made a purification for our sins he sat down on the right hand of the Majesty in lofty places.
(Heb 8:1) Now as to the things being discussed this is the main point: We have such a high priest as this, and he has sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,
(Heb 10:12) But this [man] offered one sacrifice for sins perpetually and sat down at the right hand of God,
(Heb 12:2) as we look intently at the Chief Agent and Perfecter of our faith, Jesus. For the joy that was set before him he endured a torture stake, despising shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
(1Pe 3:22) He is at God’s right hand, for he went his way to heaven; and angels and authorities and powers were made subject to him.
