Our BOE was told every time in the elders meeting with the CO that there had to be better shepherding.

Prior to any CO visit the COBE would run round everyone asking if they had "encouraged or spoken to anyone recently".
This was then presented to the CO as proof the BOE were doing as they were told.

Everyone here has it right - the elders don't want to do it unless they're forced. You force them by keeping records. No records = less shepherding.
The elders are already totally strung out and adding this much work to them will push many over the edge.

War over preparing for WT study

i know that title sounds weird but so is this situation.

with the following information i'm about to desconspire myself a little bit, but i don't really care since i will simply deny it if any of my elders are lurking here.

anyway the situation is the following.

Next time he starts on you, humiliate him in front of the others.

Ask him why he thinks it's acceptable to be rude to people, then wait for an answer. Don't let him dodge the question.

Ask him why he's trying to force his own opinions on you. If he says they are not his opinions then ask where it says in the Bible you need to underline stuff.

Ask him why it's ok for him to ignore the GB's instructions on taking one hour for the WT?
Drop a bombshell on him like "Are you more righteous than the GB?" or "Are you trying to run ahead of Jehovah's organisation, because that can stumble some?"

Rip him a new one using some scriptures.

"We understand that in mentioning "this generation," Jesus was referring to two groups of anointed Christians. The ﬁrst group was on hand in 1914, and they readily discerned the sign of Christ’s presence in that year. Those who made up this group were not merely alive in 1914, but they were spirit-anointed as sons of God in or before that year. —Rom. 8:14-17."

So an anointed one "alive in 1914" could be either at the end of their life (born 1830's) or near the beginning of their life (born 1890 and still anointed by 1914).

Thus the first group can extend during the lives of any of these ones, from the 1830's to those born later and dieing in the 1970's.
Certainly, a long lived first group of the overlapping generation, approaching 140-150 years, not even counting the 'second group'!

The starting year for the overlapping generations can be as early as 1839 if you suppose one born at that time was anointed and lived 80 years to see 1919.

These ones meet the latest definition of the first group of overlappers.

It is not conceivable that a sane person would kill himself. At least, he must be temporarily insane. An insane person is not responsible for his deeds, and therefore the Lord would not hold him responsible.

So if anyone who has dedicated his life to Jehovah God sanely takes his life in suicide, or deliberately murders another person, it is doubtful that Jehovah would remember such a person in the resurrection.

However, in the case of a person that did not know Jehovah’s law and was not a dedicated servant of God it would be different. If he died a suicide or as a murderer he would certainly die guilty of grievous sin; but there are many other grievous sins, and for them repentance is possible.

Don't Miss the Meetings - Hebrews 10:24, 25 Re-examined

i recently got an unsolicited lecture from a well-intentioned but nevertheless misguided jw friend.

the gist of it was that i needed to go to all the meetings or i would miss out on "everlasting life.".

i responded that i do not need to go to meetings to have a relationship with god.

"not forsaking". Forsaking (Gr. egkataleipo) does not mean to 'miss' as in 'miss a meeting'.
It means to forsake, leave behind, give up on, desert.

What Paul is saying is not to 'turn your back entirely' on the gathering of yourselves together.

It has nothing to do with missing the occasional meeting, since it's as much a state of mind.
You could be away from the meeting ill, but you have not forsaken the meetings because you still desire to be there.

But this true definition really doesn't help with guilting people to keep attending, so that's no good!

these guys believe that they are running and directing "god's organization" and it is all based on some flimsy parable interpetation about a master who left a slave in charge while he went away with the outcome uncertain upon his return.

not a very solid case to be pointedly honest.

jesus would have made a better choice of donald trump to run his father's business/watchtower corporation, he's less arrogant and doesn't discourage higher education, and plastic children's toys are not a major concern of his.. what is arrogance?.

Don't knock the Roman Catholics. Without them we wouldn't have the Bible as it exists today, Christianity wouldn't be spread around the world as much as it is, and JW's wouldn't have the name 'Jehovah' to claim for themselves.

Besides, who do you think God was using between 100CE and 1900CE as his organisation?
If you were born during that time and were being led to God, which church would you have had to go to?

The problem with todays GB is that according to their teachings, 'todays' GB were not alive at 1919 when the master appointed their forebears as the FDS, so where do these new guys get their authority from?

They also teach commands of men as doctrines. And they 'unsteadily' keep changing their doctrines. They rule with an iron fist, not with love.

Could i possily be one of the sealed?

i went to the meeting last night, (with the start of a beard) and going throught he book study i had a thought.

god our "heavenly father" wants us to have a personal relationship with him because he is love.

well my brain disconnected from this thinking because if the bible was "written primarily for the anointed" and the benefits in the bible can only be mine because of "association" with the anointed, then i can never have a personal relationship with god or jesus.

Read a little before and after this verse to get the full context and meaning of what is meant by the term used "all sorts of men":

(1Ti 2:1, 2) 1I therefore exhort, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, offerings of thanks, be made concerning all sorts of men, 2 concerning kings and all those who are in high station; in order that we may go on leading a calm and quiet life with full godly devotion and seriousness.

(1Ti 2:5, 6) 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself a corresponding ransom for all. . .

Everything about this passage indicates that it is not directed to a select few only, but rather the whole world of mankind.
