snare&racket Erm..... Remember that recent new USA wide request of a minimum monthly pledge from every member because of all the kingdom halls to be built.......and now, what two months later, the UK has an opposite request, selling them all off and squishing 4 congregations into one.
Yes, the BOE 2014 March 29th specifically said:
"The need for Kingdom Halls and Assembly Halls is greater than ever before. At this time, over 13,000 Kingdom Hall projects and 35 Assembly Hall projects are needed worldwide. Much of this need is in parts of the world where the cost of property and building materials is high."
The parts of the world where the cost of property and building materials is high is the western world, ie USA and UK.
If this is where 'much of the need is', it makes no sense (other than financial) to reduce the number of kingdom halls.
These guys really know how to talk out of both sides of their mouth.

What was the reason the Congregation Book Study meeting was combined with the TMS and SM?
Wasn't it along the lines that "fuel is expensive, so the GB have kindly saved you one trip per week"?
Here are two quotes from that BOE letter April 21st 2008:
"The Governing Body is fully aware of the mounting pressures that YOU, the Lords precious sheep, are experiencing. Like the first century Governing Body we wish to add no further burden to you, except what is necessary. Therefore, after prayerful consideration we have decided to take steps to lighten your load by adjusting the weekly schedule for congregation meetings."
"This adjustment in our weekly meeting schedule will be beneficial in many ways. For example, in many lands the cost of fuel is escalating, and much time is expended in travelling to and from congregation meetings."
It seems the lure of more money has once again overriden the concerns for "the Lord's precious sheep".

(I'm on a roll lol)
If selling a hall is not in the interests of the congregation, can the local trustees be reported to the charity commission on grounds of mismanagement?

Suppose you already have a 20 minute drive to the local hall?
Adding another 20 minutes each way will have one outcome - fewer going to the meetings.
It will also make the ministry harder. How many people will agree to start going to meetings that are not local or convenient?

Sliding fast mentions the new insurance arrangement of £3 per publisher which covers the cost of insuring each kingdom hall.
When 4 congregations are consolidated into one kingdom hall, there will be 4x as many contributions coming in for 'insurance' per kingdom hall.
I'll guarantee they won't drop the rate per publisher. Nice little earner.

We didn't get that letter tonight (in the UK).
Is this just for cities, and rural khalls are not included?

i know there are recordings out there of jcs and more to come.
i imagine the average drone wouldn't dream of recording a jc but those who are aware of the tatt might record jcs if they bother to attend.. i'm wondering (yes, another idle speculation post...sorreeeeeee), with the advent of more being recorded if the wbt$ will change their tack on how jcs are conducted?
leave it the same?.
I understand that some JC's are asking the victim to leave their bag and phone outside the room, in addition to asking outright "are you recording this?"

this is the scuttlebutt in one of the "bethel congregations" by us.. no details as to exactly what this "faith-testing" announcement might be.. anyone else hear any of this pre-zone visit hype?.

DOC Looking to find out where to sign up for the job, Blondie?
There's a new position - Ball Servant.
I hear they actually did this in a Scottish KHall whenever a kilted man entered.
Little mirror on a stick to make sure he wasn't commando.
I think it was cofty who posted this a while back, but can't be certain.

i have words that irritate me and not always without reason.. my latest hate is the word: 'solutions' as used by so many businesses in their title these days.
y'know, 'something innane business solutions' and such balderdash.. i loathe that word now.
arrrrggghhhhhh!
When the WT study contains a word that no one has ever come across before it's always a laugh.
We had "impunge" (rhymes with 'sponge') mentioned in comments a number of times a few weeks ago. The word was 'impugn'.
Another favourite that crops up is "hyperbowl" instead of hyperbole.
These are even better when they come from the School Overseer.
They must have missed those lessons in their Awake! education course.
The tragedy is, this happens in every single congregation and they are never educated to correct themselves.
It's embarrassing.
