Makes you wonder why God has allowed millions of sincere truth seekers over 2 thousand years to struggle to even know which version of the rule book is accurate.
Maybe it's not as important as we think.

Throwing a wrench in child baptism.
by runForever in1 corinthians 7:14 tells us: "for the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.".
so the sanctification of children of "christians" depends on the holiness of their parents not the "baptism" of young children.

Boeing I could see them saying, "1950s...well that was OLD LIGHT."
Then ask what is it that turns light 'old'.
If it's just time, then we currently study old light in waiting. We may as well dismiss it right now.
The Bible is also old.

Why I remain one of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Brother Jeramy inallow me to begin with a clarification: when i say i am one of jehovah's witnesses, i don't mean that i am an advocate of the watchtower society or a devotee of some of its more controversial false teachings.
i mean that i am a christian, a disciple of jesus christ dedicated to jehovah god, and who remains in union with my brothers and sisters who make up the family of faith that globally refers to itself as jehovah's witnesses.
some totally understand the distinction between the family of brothers and sisters and the corporate organization known as the watchtower society (wts).

I still go to the meetings, but to be honest I can't keep up with all the changes.
If I don't know what I'm supposed to believe (and I'm not alone there, the elders are no better) then how can I teach anyone anything, after all, these teachings may all change again tomorrow so what I taught them was false.
I don't like being told to put my faith and my life on a foundation of shifting sands - I'm not the sort of person who can agree that that comes from almighty God.
Either God directs JW's or He doesn't. It's either true or it's not.
Either God directs Catholics or He doesn't. It's either true or it's not.
Either God directs Pentecostals or He doesn't. It's either true or it's not.Jesus said (Matthew 7:1-5) “Why, then, do you look at the straw in your brother’s eye but do not notice the rafter in your own eye? Hypocrite!"
If you choose to, you will get the point of who the hypocrite is.

sloppyjoe2 Which article has the quote "when the organizations speaks, it is Jehovah speaking"?
For the sake of space I'll only include the more recent ones from 2000 onwards.
- w01 1/15 p. 7 How We Can Cultivate Virtue
Jehovah has provided his Word and Bible-based publications.-- w01 8/1 p. 14 par. 8
Rather, he has complete confidence in the truth as it is revealed by Jehovah God through his Son, Jesus Christ, and "the faithful and discreet slave."-- w01 8/15 p. 29 par. 16 Do Not Give Up in Doing What Is Fine
Take advantage of the provisions Jehovah has made to sustain you spiritually, such as our Bible-based publications.-- w03 3/15 p. 27 'The Lips of Truth Will Endure Forever'
Jehovah gives us sound counsel through his Word and through his organization, using the publications provided by "the faithful and discreet slave."-- w05 11/1 p. 20 par. 18 Jehovah Is Our Shepherd
Through the faithful and discreet slave class, Jehovah has provided us with helpful publications and rich programs at meetings, assemblies, and conventions—all of which fill our spiritual needs... Jehovah has provided this spiritual food in great variety—from "milk," basic Bible teachings, to "solid food," deeper spiritual information.-- w10 9/15 p. 13 par. 8
Similarly today, a Governing Body composed of spirit-anointed Christians contributes to the unity of the worldwide congregation. The GB publishes spiritually encouraging literature in many languages. This spiritual food is based on God's Word. Thus, what is taught is not from men but from Jehovah.-- w10 9/15 p. 23 par. 8 "Your Leader Is One, the Christ"
The anointed and their other sheep companions recognize that by following the lead of the modern-day Governing Body, they are in fact following their Leader, Christ.-- si p. 9 par. 16 (2011) "All Scripture Is Inspired of God and Beneficial"
(1) Jehovah God originates his utterances; (2) then his official Word, or Spokesman—now known as Jesus Christ—often transmits the message; (3) God's holy spirit, the active force that is used as the medium of communication, carries it earthward; (4) God's prophet on earth receives the message; and (5) he then publishes it for the benefit of God's people.-- w12 9/15 p. 22 par. 16 Learn From the Patience of Jehovah and Jesus
Well, a person who lacks confidence that the end is near might start to make alternate arrangements, so to speak, in case things do not work out as Jehovah said they would.-- w12 9/15 p. 24 par. 4 "You Know Neither the Day Nor the Hour"
As the end of this system draws ever closer, the work of pointing to Jehovah's provisions for salvation has never been more important.-- w12 11/15 p. 17 par. 9 Cultivate the Spirit of a Lesser One
A humble person has heartfelt gratitude for Jehovah's provisions, including spiritual food. Hence, such an individual is a diligent student of the Bible and an avid reader of the Watchtower and Awake! magazines... When we manifest humble appreciation by reading and studying our Bible-based publications, we make spiritual advancement, and Jehovah is able to use us more fully in his service.-- w13 4/15 p12 par 11 Do not tire out
Jehovah has provided a bounteous supply of written spiritual food to give us strength. No doubt, you can think of a time when after reading a publication, you thought: 'That is exactly what I needed! It is as if Jehovah had that written just for me!' That is not a coincidence. Through these provisions, Jehovah does instruct and guide us.-- w14 8/15 "Hear Jehovah’s Voice Wherever You Are"
2 ... In effect, Jesus also conveys Jehovah’s voice to us as he directs the congregation through "the faithful and discreet slave." We need to take this guidance and direction seriously, for our everlasting life depends on our obedience.16 ... We actually need to put ourselves in places or circumstances where Jehovah’s spirit is. We know that his spirit is at the congregation meetings. Many servants of Jehovah have avoided disaster by listening to Jehovah during our meetings.

Young baptism a double standard with marriage?
by thedepressedsoul ini remember tons of young ones getting counseled for being too young to date and for marriage.
the elders said, "marriage is the 2nd biggest dedication of your life (baptism being 1st), at 20 you still don't know who you are or what you want.
you can't possibly make a decision like that, that young!

The Society say that marrying as a teenager is too young, but have no qualms about encouraging baptism at an even earlier age.
*** w71 9/1 p. 526 par. 8 Fortify Yourself So as to Maintain Integrity ***
*** w75 8/1 p. 461 Youths, Make Your Life Worth Living ***
Then there are the young teen-agers who think they must “date” and “go steady,” as many children of today do... They are too young to get married, but they want to satisfy the desires that are building up inside them.
As a teen-ager, however, you may feel that opportunities to make decisions and to do what you want seem limited... Your parents may try to cultivate in you other interests besides engaging in various forms of recreation. Or, you may be eager to get married, but they may tell you that you are too young and immature for this.*** w85 7/15 p. 19 par. 15 ‘Run in Such a Way That You May Attain the Prize’ ***
Failing to recognize that “foolishness is tied up with the heart of” youngsters, some parents have allowed their children to associate closely with worldlings, attend unsavory social affairs, and even date when far too young for marriage.
*** w93 4/1 p. 21 Growing Up With Jehovah’s Organization in South Africa ***
We were romantically attracted to each other, but we were still teenagers, too young to get married.*** w99 2/15 p. 5 What Is Needed for a Successful Marriage? ***
“It is very risky to get married too young,” says Nikki, who was 22 when she married. She cautions: “Your feelings, goals, and tastes will continue to change from the time you are in your late teens until you are in your mid-to-late 20’s.”
*** w01 5/15 p. 20 par. 15 Divine Guidance for Selecting a Marriage Mate ***
*** w09 7/1 p. 18 She Acted With Discretion ***
Eighteen-year-old Blossom thought that she was in love with a young man in her congregation... But her parents asked her to wait one year, feeling that she was still too young. Blossom later wrote: “I am so thankful that I listened to that wise advice. Within the year, I matured some
Wise parents carefully teach their children a dignified view of marriage. They neither urge their children to marry for money nor pressure them to begin dating when still too young to take on adult roles and responsibilities.Sound marital advice that does not extend to what the WT say is MORE important than baptism:
*** w92 10/1 p. 22 ‘Should I Get Baptized?’ ***
Ayumi got baptized when she was ten years old. She wanted to serve Jehovah because she really came to love him. Now she is 13 and just had the experience of seeing her Bible student, who has also come to love Jehovah, get baptized at the age of 12. Ayumi’s younger brother Hikaru was also baptized at the age of ten. “Some said I was too young,” he recalls, “but Jehovah knew how I felt. -

Specific Comments By R&F About May Broadcast
by freemindfade ini know there are many posts discussing the may money requesting televangalism...er... broadcast i mean!
but i wanted to start one where anyone can put what they have heard any non-exjw, non-apostate witnesses say good or bad about the broadcast.
i don't see how it can't rattle followers... but then again i might be surprised how they can twist things (2+2=5).

An elder brought this topic up with me. His family is not very well off.
He described it as a "give us your money" talk.I agreed. I said we are now televangelists.

If anyone should have worked it out by now, the GB should have;
JW's are among the most tight fisted, short changing, payment dodging, low tippers of any group on earth.
My guess is that, while being mostly at the low end of the education and income scale they have learned this skill from their masters.

Paint Nite - fun evening and a new hobby
by Simon inwe (and by 'we', i mean my wife) decided that we should try something new and she, erm, i mean 'we', liked the idea of painting.
so i enthusiastically (i.e.
begrudgingly) went along for the night to the "pain nite" event she'd booked us for a couple of weeks ago.. the premise is pretty simple: it's held in a pub or restaurant, all the art supplies are provided, the instructor then walks you through how to reproduce a painting they have chosen for the night and you have a glass of wine or beer, do some painting, have something to eat, have some more wine, more painting, more wine, realize you are drinking the dirty paint water and so on.. here's the site: https://www.paintnite.com/.

That is beautiful!
The softness of the painting perfectly suits the tranquility of the subject - it's very dreamy.
It may not be as detailed as the original Canoe Sunset, but I prefer it - I'd rather have that hanging on my wall.
Well done, fantastic!
