  Service on holidays= unannounced visitors

  its thanksgiving- that means all those who went out in service today come over to harrass those who are "spiritually weak".. 2 car groups have already stopped by, plus they said the co is going to stop by this afternoon.... they first off, dont call before they stop by and then they bring the whole car group in.. i have gotten texts from witnesses hoping to see me at meeting tonight since the co is in town.. why dont they just do some door-to-door?

  if you dont want to do that on a holiday, dont go out in service!.

  dont come and bug me because you dont want to knock on doors of "wordly" people.. witnesses feel they have the right to intrude in your life at anytime.

  Not that it's funny but the expression "spiritually weak" makes me laugh. They are the weak ones. Anyway, unanounced visits irritate me. When it happens I'll meet them at the door (happened again a few days ago, while they were preaching in the area) and not let them in. Don't want to make them feel too welcome. I do feel a little guilty though, it's not very polite, but to me unanounced visits aren't polite either. It's not that hard to pick up a phone, but then you can't pass the time in service.

  Witnesses feel they have the right to intrude in your life at anytime. err.. I hate being harrassed

  Not just our lives, everybody's lives. Try doing the same with them and see the look on their faces. It might not be a happy one.

  What often bothered me was that most experiences are rather out of the ordinary, you never heard from regular guys just trying to keep faithful. It was always people in special circumstances who excelled at being model Witnesses. Gave me the feeling that average people don't matter and their average struggles were meaningless.

  People traveling through crocodile infested rivers to get to meetings, on the road for hours just to get there and hours back home... and similar experiences. Fortunately I never wasted hours of my life just for getting to meetings, that were mostly boring and uninspired.

  i dont think anyone really knows the answer to this one... but im thinking theyre probably driven around by cos in their buick lacrosses and don't actually have cars of their own... but i could be wrong..... by the way, the cos in my area drive used toyota corollas... so it would appear that the american cos get the plush cars while non-american cos get second-rate vehicles.. .

  just found out that the australian governong body member known as geoffrey jackson got engaged to a sister about two weeks ago.

  it really shocked me at first but then i remembered how other members of the gb have remarried in the past like daniel sidlik.

  what made me say "woah" was hearing that the holy bride to be is really young!

  more haphazard thougths on the recently concluded elder school..... a big chunk of time was spent on a video which traced a judicial case, all the way from the confession to the elders through the decision to disfellowship the guy.. here is a very brief synopsis of the video:.

  tearful late-teen or early-20's publisher confesses to 2 elders that he committed fornication with a "worldly girl" who is now preganant and wants to marry him.

  the elders give him some "homework" to do prior to his judcial committee - read psalm 51 and an old wt article.

  This cracks me up. Even with these crucial matters they just mention evidence instead of showing it. Sometimes real life is the best comedy.

  @Cedars: sure makes lots of sense that the three and a half days are nine months. The bible doesn't seem to be more than a tool to make their silly ideas work, nothing more. The earth is flat, it has to be! If science today worked the same way...

  though i strongly disagree with many about god vs atheist(i do believe in god ) that is not a topic i wish to debate.

  Here are my thoughts. I don't really like this question, same goes for the question about what someone's goals are. Though I know it's not the case here, usually the people who ask you that tend to want you to serve their purpose, to live up to their expectations. Often it was Elders or super "spiritually mature" folks who asked these questions and use it in a way to superficially judge your character. People that want you to serve a purpose that may not really be yours. It's a question that often comes with this undertone of "if you don't know your purpose, I/we will gladly help you out and force our ideas and purpose on you. Don't just waste your life, waste it for us".

  Purpose is one of these loaded words. I'm no longer sure that life really has a purpose. We can think about purpose all day long forgetting to just live and appreciate what we have. And even if we think our life does have a purpose many things are far beyond our control.
