22,000 years of arctic ice cores melt, and wash the YHWH/JESUS concept down the sewer

and briefly it tells of an equipment failure at a storage facility for ice cores that had been extracted from the polar ice cap in various locations.. but note, that the layers of ice evident in the cores covered a period of 22,000 years.

and from the christian/jw perspective, that's impossible, for the bible story of the flood (verified by jesus and sundry other biblical writers) maintains that 4000+ years ago, the ice caps would have melted during the period when the earth was covered by the divinely caused deluge.

I've already researched a lot about the ice core records.

And I found It's dating is very much accurate.

There is no room for bias counting date because of several independent dating strategies.

You can synchronize it with volcanic ash layer. And the counting method is not only by visual layer but also by using "stable isotope data" at least 8,000 plus years records.

Young Earth Creationists claims are fraudulent.

For example, Larry Vardiman mention about "P-38 Lightning fighters trapped under an estimated 250 feet of ice for almost 50 years" below.

But, Larry Vardiman did not mention about how much snow accumulate at crash site.

There are much snow fall in south east coast area of greenland. And "250 feet of ice for almost 50 years" is quite normal and expected level for its crash site.

You can see how snow fall levels are different depend on the site.

If you must compare the crash site with icecore site. It must be DYE-3 Greenland or "Law Dome" Antarctica.

Young earth creationist like Larry Vardiman never present the real truth. But they present the deluded truth of the Bible.

Jehovah's Witnesses ARE Christians, why do so many ex JW's deny this?

jehovah's witnesses accept jesus as christ, the son of god.

they try, in their own way, to live by his teachings and imitate him.

they pray, read the bible and meet together regularly for worship.. i won't minimise any of the harm and damage they cause but for the life of me, i can't see how anyone can credibly deny that they are christians.. why do so many former jws have a problem with this?

English is not my mother language, So I checked the definition of "Christian" in dictionaries.

I think Jehovah's Witnesses are Christian both in Britain and in America.

If you say "JW are not based on the teaching of Jesus Christ because Jesus never teach 1914 and ..".

The same is true of "Catholic are not Christian because Jesus never teach purgatory ...".

Do you ever feel strangely drawn towards Conspiracy Theories?

after mentally awakening to the idea that jws don't have the truth i strangely found myself delving into all encompassing conspiracy theories.

not that i believed them but something about them seemed quite fascinating.

i was especially drawn to the idea of a new world order/one world government.

This topic is very interesting. I'm operating the Forum mainly for witnesses and ex-witnesses in Japan. And now the conspiracy theories are hot topic there.

When I see many ex-witnesses tend to believe conspiracy theories, it reminds me this quote.

"Man's mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions."

I don't know the context of this quote. But It seems to me that once one captured by the exciting ideas such as the Universal Issue or Vindication of God's name or The last days of the Satan's system, then he or she is more vulnerable to other exciting ideas.

"This is really a tragedy. But There is a reason why Jehovah allow this".

Victim's knocking on the door of psychopath is just an accident.
Some Ex-Witness said that persons who are interested in witnesses message tend to have mental problem these days.
It is difficult to recognize the psycho. Sometime it resemble religious attitude.

Several news reports showed local kingdom hall and tried to interview her witnesses friends. But not mention the name of the religion.

The murderer's tweeted "Jehovah visited me" in her past twitter.

Yes, this young woman is typical psychopath.

and witnesses are more likely to be targeted by "stay at home" type psychopath.

In Japan, Witness activity hours per one baptism are highest in the world.

Over 30,000 hours has been spent for one baptism.

The victim said to witness friends, "the young woman are very nice", because she showed her interest in the Bible.

Sad story.

NAGOYA —

Police have arrested a 19-year-old girl on suspicion of killing a 77-year-old woman. The girl, who is a student at Nagoya University, was quoted by police as saying she wanted to kill someone and that anyone would do, NTV reported Wednesday.

According to police the victim, Tomoko Mori, became acquainted with the university student at a religious gathering. Mori was reported missing by her husband on Dec 7.

Police learned that Mori had been spending a lot of time with the girl and on Tuesday searched the girl’s apartment in Nagoya’s Showa Ward, where they found Mori’s body. The girl was at her parents’ home where she was arrested, police said.

Police said the girl told them she had wanted to kill someone ever since she was a child, NTV reported. She admitted to hitting Mori with a hatchet and then strangling her with a scarf in December, police said.

2014 MEMORIAL ATTENDANCES FOR REST OF THE WORLD

the october kingdom ministry for the united states reported the 2014 memorial attendances for the us branch office that has subsequently been well discussed in a separate thread.

in that thread, a poster asserted that in some parts of europe the attendance had been higher than last year - but to date no source evidence has been provided.. so, have memorial attendances for other parts of the world been reported in any of the publications such as kingdom ministryyet?.

if so, could you direct me to the source(s).

The column never mentions last year reports or comparisons.

Is The Governing Body Open To Lawsuits In Some Countries Over Enforced Shunning Of Ex Members?

can they get sued for harassment?

what are the legal boundaries they have crossed by enforce shunning of ex member by threatening disfellowshipping of any member not shunning certain individuals?

Band on the Run, Thank you for reply. I mentioned the legal case in Japan. I did not say the case apply to geological scatterd religous community who shun specific person who live in remote area. But If the situation are same, I think the religioous belief is not execuse for exempt.

I know JW related legal case connection with shunning policy in US back to 1980s.

Basic principle are same in most of countries including european countries and Japan.

I am not sure if you understand what I want to say. Yes, The law supports the right of religious belief. But it is not always the absolute freedom of behavor.

If there are situation the group shunning are viewed as harassment or blackmail. A person could get damage reward in civil lawsuit. But I know such a situation is rare and I don't know exact Jehovah's Witnesses court case.

I think it is wrong to conclude that shunning behavor are always right when you read the
"Paul v. Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc." case.

"Shunning" in Jehovah's Witness community is not simple, it is not just "a person quit to associate with a person". It involves many things. There are processes , such as secret judicial meeting, introgation of private matters, threatening family members who socialize with ex-member, etc.

Whether harassment and threatening are involved in the process or not are uncertain. I belive it required specific condition if "shunning" itself has emotional damage.

And the matter is not only with civil lawsuit, but also with governmental recognition of religious or chality status.

Jehovah's witnesses official policy is shunning the person who willingly accept blood transfusion or who support political party. They said "a person disassociate themselves". But in reality, the shunning policy are religious sanction and controlling factors among JW members.

This may lead to Jehovahs Witness religion are illegal in some sense in some countries.

Japanese constitutions are almost same as US.

The lawsuits I mentioned was about the local small community
(not religious but geological).

The judge said that a declaration of communally excommunication itself viewd as
an invasion of personal rights.

And the judge also said the conduct of excommnucation by infruencial community members
on this case were "bullying and harassment".

In most case, Jehovah's Witness disfellowshipping practice may not be viewed as
harassment nor blackmail just because JW happened to be minority group.

If Jehovah's Witnesses understanding of the bible should be applied in Catholic Community.
Just imagine what is happening in Mexico, Italy, France, Spain, Poland or other Catholic
prevailing countries.

People excommunicate YOU because you are EX-CATHOLIC and this practice last forever(lifespan) as long as you are out of Catholic church.

And what happens if Pope declares that if you have fellowship with ex-catholic, you are goint to be excommunicated also.

So I think an excommunication may be viewed as a harassment or a emotional blackmail
depending on context.
