Good morning everyone. It's just one week until the election; Have you checked out the candidates and what they would like to do? We have a Govenor, US Senate and US Rep race going on this year as well as several state questions to vote on.
I went to the each candidates website last night because TV commercials just don't explain everything. One candidate's commercial consisted of showing another candidate cussing during an interview. Of course the song that was playing during the commercial was pirated. So we have the foul mouthed vs the thief.
But their web sites showed just where they stand on some important issues. Our state's economy is in bad shape and they each had ideas how to correct it; I sure hope one guy doesn't get elected after reading his view on things.
Voting is very important. We have a say in who gets to run things; During all those years we spent in the borg we gave up that privilege. It feels great to vote.

Need help with a few questions please
by rejoice ini lived next door to a jw for 3 years and we became very good friends although it was often a strained relationship.
i would read the books and even listen to the tapes from kh she gave me but, when i had questions or showed an opinion she would become so angry.
i was reared a southern baptist and still am today and claim jesus christ as my savior through his grace.

I wanted to commend you for helping her. It was things like this(non JWs caring and helping) that helped to turn on the light bulb and set us free.
there is no one thing you can say to her, just show her you care, be a place where she can talk without fear of being punished for her thoughts.
And I am a big believer that prayer works wonders.

he called them "cause finders".
anytime a new issue could be made about something, they were there.

It felt like the Tuesday night Book Study
by Sadie5 ini haven't posted in awhile, just reading when i can.
hubby and i are starting a new business with some other people.
our business is in a slump right now so we need some other avenues to bring in money.. we've been meeting at our house with other people that wanted to get involved.

We've been meeting at our house with other people that wanted to get involved. We'll do this until we can get an office building.
Tuesday nights, I get home, throw something together for a quick dinner. Tidy up the living room, the kids set up some folding chairs. It felt like Book Study night. I told hubby, I didn't think I could ever go back to going to meetings like that again, it is too exhausting.
On the plus side, the dress was casual, we all wore jeans. And we talked about something interesting, making money. And everyone was enthusiastic with ideas. Sure hope it works.
Just stopping in to say hi.

I'm a bit upset right now.
by Sadie5 inone of our venders for our business closed down a few weeks ago, and we found a new company to get some of our supplies from.
while i was making the order, the woman asked me if i wanted our competitor who happened to be there bring it to our place since he was coming our way.
i knew my husband wouldn't want that so i told her no, after she asked me 3 times.. my husband picked up the supplies later on in the day.

Hi DJ,
No, she didn't sound angry, more like shocked, didn't know what to say. I think she was looking for one of those moments when you find a fellow brother or sister in the truth. Instead she found apostates.
I was a bit surprised that she asked I was a witness, I wasn't prepared at all. Hubby said I should have just said no, I'm not, instead of saying we used to be.
Our competitor just rubs me the wrong way, we've always been polite to him but hes done some sneaky things to us in the past and the thought of him talking about us, just got to me.
And no, our business doesn't have anything to do with religion.

One of our venders for our business closed down a few weeks ago, and we found a new company to get some of our supplies from. I called there to place an order. While I was making the order, the woman asked me if I wanted our competitor who happened to be there bring it to our place since he was coming our way. I knew my husband wouldn't want that so I told her no, after she asked me 3 times.
My husband picked up the supplies later on in the day. After he got back, she called me and told me that our competitor had told her we were witnesses and she wanted to know if this was true. I said we used to be. She said ok and hung up. I know our competitor isn't a witness, he is Pentacostal.
I'm a bit upset that our competitor would be talking with a vendor of ours, about what religion we might be. We had never told him we were JWs. I'm also wondering what kind of treatment we are going to receive now that she knows we aren't but at one time were. I know this is a small company, family owned and might be made up of JWs. They may even refuse to do business with us, I just don't know what may happen. Oh, well I can alway look for another vender.
