rulehayl,
A lot of us don't fall into the 'hater' category. My overall experience of over 30 years as a JW was very positive. But, it wasn't 'the truth'. If you can live with yourself knowing that, have at it.
hi all,i have been studying with the witnesses for more than 6 months and regularly attend both midweek & weekend meetings, and i am nearly at the end of the "bible teach" book.
my boss is adamant i attend team christmas functions.
she knows about my studying and potential baptism next year, and has suggested that i attend and just not participate in activities like kris kringle.
rulehayl,

at one time scientists believed that living things and non-living things were made of different material, accounting for the unique properties of living things.
this idea is called vitalism and is no longer popular.
what does remain popular (in fact is still the dominant view) is a similar idea that things that experience the world (humans, frogs, mice) are different from things that don't experience the world (potatoes, rocks, snowflakes).
Is there a special 'gesturing' course you need to attend before you can present a TED talk?
I only ask because they all seem to have the same strange mannerisms. I usually can't watch more than a minute or two of any presentation. And the audience seems to display the same bobble-head behavior I remember from the KH.
malcolm young of ac/dc has died at 64 years, dementia.
very sad.. always a great ac/dc fan, especially their river plate concert.. george.
River Plate was an exceptional example of what it was all about.
omg my head exploded!in this months broadcast - splian goes off on how much care the wt in making sure its facts are correct, and how they make sure their quotes are not taking from people who have a bad reputation or have an agenda.
and that the make sure its always in context!.
they are such liars!.
@BluesBrother: thanks, I'm saving that one for reference. Could that be counted as a sin of omission? Or is it: all's fair in theocratic warfare?
october 31, 2017 to selected bodies of elders in the united states branch territory re: discontinuation of the funds-on-deposit arrangement.
@pepperheart: in addition, the 'average' jw has no money to give. I have known some who have the money but they are few and far between. I think even they are wising up.
i'd like to show you a short video i made about exjw activism in poland.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vt3qdtyxgd8.
i'm one of the people responsible for those information campaigns/protests, so you can ask me anything you like.
there's a lot i didn't show on the video because of the limited time i have for editing, i have tons of footage more.
Finally a good reason to go to the conventions. That was outstanding, I am in the Warsaw area at the moment but I was also in Wroclaw cong in the past. I will have to look carefully for familiar faces. Can I send you a pm so you can let me know when next events are planned for Warsaw? I would love to drop by and say hello.
there seems to be some confusion over what is happening with the study edition of the watchtower - i notice it isn't mentioned in the letter to be read out.
if, as seems likely, it is going to be dumbed down even further then i think this could be the first step to shortening the watchtower study (to 30 mins?
) - it is the only meeting not to have been reduced in recent years.
I think they should eliminate the reading of the WT and just go to straight-up Question&Answer mode.
They could even provide the correct answer to save everyone time. Read the question, read the answer.
Of course, you should feel free to answer in your own words (but don't get too carried away).
i wanted to relay an example that i heard about translating difficulties.
take the 5 word phrase.
"i didn't eat your sandwich".
Fred Franz: translating the bible with a dictionary and an agenda. What could go wrong?

What difference would it make if it was a guaranteed 100% accurate translation? It is like people arguing over the best translation into English of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales and basing their lives on this translation!
People arguing over bible translation accuracy outside of academic circles is ridiculous. Outside of strictly literary or historical examinations this book should have no more influence on your life than 'The Little Mermaid'.
the manipulative use of language by the org in the upcoming circuit assembly talks is as good - or better - than any advertising conglomerate could devise.
the mind-shaping wording is clearly used in order to deter critical thinking by the sheep.. face bad reports as jesus did (9 min.
note to the speaker: explain why spiritually mature people do not become ashamed of the good news or dismayed when faced with negative propaganda.
How would a JW know if it was a false story if he didn't know the true story?
Answer: if it is a negative story it is a false story (as pointed out by sir82). There is no need to know the true story, only the story the GB is currently telling.
