Great job. At least you tried. Wasn't so bad after all, was it? Maybe one of her friends has her eye on you.... Just be open to opportunity, don't disqualify yourself before the race has started. You have the rest of your life ahead of you.

Need advice for asking a girl out
by DuvanMuvan inwell long story short, i've been meaning to ask this girl at school out for a while but i can never do it because her friends are always there in the way and i would prefer to ask her in person.
we've liked each other for a while (i was oblivious until about a month or two ago) and i'm also i bit worried she'll get tired of waiting.. i was just wondering if anyone had any advice or something that they could give me.

Duvan, just do it, Life is too short. Do you want to end up old like me one day, and say to yourself: damn, I wished I would have asked that girl out. What is the worse that could happen? You are seeing monsters where there are none. And besides, you need to get used to/learn to accept rejection. It happens. You will be ok...

For those who still attend- When was the last time you had a Congregation Picnic or Get together?
by BU2B init seems that in my neck of the woods there is no social interaction between jws outisde of fs and the kh.
the last get together was 3 summers ago.
other than that there is no bond.

When we were back in the states last, we had some good picnics (congregation rented a pavillion in park) but that was about 2004. At our house more recently in Poland, we invited everyone to come and most did, a few elders and their families did not (probably home studying WT for next day) but a few did - the younger elders. We had about 70 people running around having fun. Badmitton, soccer, I showed them how to play horse-shoes. Bonfire. Of course, I was the only one drinking (necessary). Eventually they would have to sing some KM melodies (I was busy cleaning up).
Since I have faded, we haven't done it again. Too bad for the children. Must suck to get to be a child, once a year at a faders's BBQ.

Write the following on a small piece of paper (business card szie) - Call me when you get a chance. <insert phone number> and then hand it to her discreetly. If she is interested, she will call.

Get ready for phone calls from Elders either this week or when the next CO visit happens.
by EndofMysteries ini got a call the other day, it looks like the gb is telling everyone to contact all inactive ones, let them know they are missed, etc, and to do it within a week.

Since we don't speak the same language (them Polish, me English) I don't think I'll be getting any phone calls.

Tell her to listen to her child and ask why the child might feel this way? Is it unreasonable to think that children should not be forced to make any religious decisions until they are adults? Sure parents should have the right to bring their children up as they see best, but without penalties.

Great rendition BluesBrother: Do as your told, show up for meetings, and don't ask questions.
I may need to make a banner of both to post above my desk as a means of silent protest...

Victory in Defeat !
by cookiemaster inmaybe you guys remember that in january, i shared here our situation with the ongoing conflict with the ms that was conducting the wt study in our home.
well, my parents decided to talk to the elders about it.
the last time he held the study in our home he really said some insulting things during it.

I think quellycatface nailed it: this type of behavoir is not normal among mature, fully functional adults. The light bulbs should start going off....

Great story. Next time I come back to the states, we are going to hit the strip joints in your area, and you are paying.. Start saving! We should do well since I always get the - you look like Mark Harmon comment. I had to look it up after my last trip to the states because I had no idea who he was.
