Hey Crownboy
Okay, I won't ask why you're from NYC but tell me, why do you love the Gators?? Actually, a better question might be Why doesn't EVERYONE like the Gators??! Hehe And naturally UF is better than FSU academically; seriously, from what I've heard, it's near impossible to get admitted to UF anymore, the standards are incredibly high.
As for the Dolphins, well, I LOVE to see them LOSE! Sorry n all dat, but it's personal...someone I detest loves the dolphins and hates it when they get beat and I'll confess to a petty but intense feeling of satisfaction that I get everytime they get creamed Hehehe

not my best photo, but it will do for now .
this face was seen at least at 10,000 doors in many states during my 25 years in the borg.
this is the face of an evil apostate ... but i feel much better now ... .
Hey Jim
Thanks for posting the pic and the info, it's nice to put a face to the man on the other side of this puter screen and you're a real cutie too!

Hey dubla
Yep, I always root for the Irish. I don't have any ties to ND but it's just a tradition or sumfin.
Ahhhh, I LOVE going to the games! Nothing like being surrounded by 90,000+ screaming Gator fans to get the blood pumpin'. I'm concerned about this year, now that we've lost Spurrier. I have no real hope of a great season, but I'm nothing if not loyal. I received a letter the other day from FSU (THE rival of UF, for those who don't know) inviting me to join their graduate program...AS IF!!!! LOL The paper started scorching before I could even finish reading it "Friends don't let friends go to Florida State"

Julien, I'm LMAO here! Thanks for the guffaw.
Out, thank you for your input and well wishes. You made some excellent points, especially about removing "should" from one's vocabulary. It's difficult to overcome a lifetime of programming.
Spice and Moe....you guys are scaring me now! Actually, I need a life-shaking experience. I've got the next two weeks (beginning this Sunday) free, so you two let me know when would work best for you.
IW, YES! Seeing life from a child's perspective is very heartening at times. Sometimes I get so caught up in being "Mom" I forget to relax and be a kid. Thanks for the reminder.
LB and Syn, thanks for your comments. Staying away from negative people AND negative thinking is vital and Syn, I agree that helping others gives me a boost too. It certainly takes me out of my own head, which really is a place I should never visit alone!

Hey (((Lyin)))
You have to praise yourself, which is not easy when all your life you have been programmed to critize every little minor flaw you may have.
Amen sister! I agree also with you that we have to focus on the positives, although that can be hard to do at times. Keep your chin up and thanks for your response, I always enjoy reading your posts.
Onacruse, wow! Thanks for sharing part of your story. No wonder you feel like a punching bag; that's an awful lot of stuff to go thru in a relatively short period of time. And I'm also glad that you found this place, so you can get your daily dose of medicine If you would like to talk more, my email is open.
Hiyas (((Spice))) I hear ya, sweetie, but know that your kindness and compassion come thru in your posts, as does your sense of humor. Hey, I'm looking forward to our girl's night out! That's still on right??
Hey Jack Thanks for your response. You mentioned that at one time, you were always "busy" at the Hall, and how it felt not to be. It definitely is a social control thing, isn't it? Where you go from being 'a part of' to 'apart from'.
I think that finding a way to fill the void that leaving the Borg creates (or any loss, for that matter) is important in feeling good about ourselves, something I haven't put the energy into that I need to.
But when I am away from that atmosphere, I feel pretty good about myself overall. Here's hoping that you will be able to completely escape that atmosphere one day soon!

i saw a report on tv just now of how two baptist mininisters beat the living daylights out of some kid for not attending the correct bible class.
the kid suffered kidney damage and the ministers have been arrested.
this reminded me of how my jw brother used to take his boys out the back and beat them black and blue every time his patience ran out with them for not sitting still for 2+ hours.
Sadie,
I said they can't eat an adult's portion in literal food, why should we expect them to eat a full portion of spiritual food?
What a great way of putting it! And that's it in a nutshell, isn't it? The expectations for EVERYONE, from adult to child, were (are) completely unrealistic.
But to be completely honest, I have to admit that I did have one elder's wife (The PO's wife, no less!) tell me that there was nothing wrong with letting my kids go to sleep during the meeting and/or letting them draw or read! Hehehe, which are all things I was already letting my toddlers do, but still it was nice, altho surprising, to have it validated. Of course the flip side of that was the PREVIOUS PO's wife, who told me that spanking my baby boy at 6 months of age wasn't "too young...he needs to learn early at the meetings to be quiet"...happily, I treated that advice with the contempt it deserved.
