From my experience all intelligent women are hated in that religion. I was made to feel that I was disgusting every time I opened my mouth. They seem to equate having a brain with being something akin to a prostitute. It took many years after leaving for me to stop hiding my intelligence, it had become such a habit out of sheer self preservation.

Women in the WT world - International Womens Day
by JWdaughter inso, reading the articles about outstanding women in religion who are notable during this international day of women i noticed that among the episcolpalians, the catholics, muslims, buddhists, wiccans, mormons and bahais (and other random religous leaders that happen to be female) there is not one jw woman mentioned as holding a significant position.
do you think any of them will look at the list(s) and wonder?
while barbara anderson is significant in a ministry regarding the wt, she is not listed, nor is she a jw.

- How do you know if someone has apostate leanings? He/she says something like "Have you ever thought that maybe the end isn't going to be here any time soon?" Sows seeds of doubt. Rom 16:17 - "avoid them"
- Question asked: "Why would individuals start down that path?" Answer: James 2:26: "Faith without works is dead". Speaker said: 'They are LAZY!
Interesting, the same reason is given for why people are poor, because they are lazy. Very cynical about human beings. Thanks for your report, don't know how you stand it but you must have your reasons. Hope your fade is going well.

I'm not trying to brag, but being an EXJW is awesome!!! Status Update-
by Coffee House Girl inhello jwn!
i don't get to check in here or comment as often as i would like because i have been working so hard at school...but i just have to share my news in hopes that newbees can see that taking the leap to enroll in higher education is worth it-.
i am graduating this spring with a bachelor degree in art history, minor anthropology...many people (including nonjw's have given me flack for choosing a "dead end" career path) but since leaving the watchtower organization's group-think mentality and "leaning on my own understanding" instead... i decided to say fuck everyone else's opinion...i am going to pursue my passion to work in a museum as a curator or archivist-.

I did it !!!!
by snare&racket in7 years ago i started on a path i had long ago given up on as impossible.
i met with my elders and told them i could not justify carrying on as a jw.
i went and got my high school qualifications and my higher education diploma (a levels with distinction) in just 12 months.

Snare, wonderful news. To think that you've gone from wasting your life in that ludicrous place in Mill Hill to qualifying as a doctor. More pleased for you than I can express in words.

ATMs in assembly halls
by Xanthippe ini only heard about these atms last year on this forum.
the poster seemed to be saying they are for donating only, is that correct?
absolutely gobsmacked over this, don't the brothers see any correlation between this and the likes of jimmy swaggart?

Hmm, who told you how much to give? I don't understand that. It sounds like you're blaming the Society for your own anxiety issues resulting in your trying to buy salvation. - Apognophos
I can only think that in a thread about the Watchtower society installing donation ATM machines in its assembly halls, such a statement is intended to be ironic.

I guess I just feel like this is making a mountain out of a molehill
Did you regular pioneer Apognophos? My husband and I did twenty-five years regular pioneering between us. Money was a mountainous issue for us, no molehill. Food shopping was a nightmare. We added it up as we went around to the last penny. We only spent clothes money on coats and boots for winter FS. We lived in a rented apartment in a rough area which I hated. Our furniture was second hand. Yes my husband window-cleaned, this guy who later found he was capable of getting a physics degree and becoming a chartered scientist. Money was a huge issue for us and we contributed every week at the KH as well. For poor publishers struggling for life's necessities and those pioneering for a long time giving huge amounts by card is causing great hardship.

Whatever happened to the widow's mite? Read your lovely new Bible, she gave two small coins - Mark 12: 41 - 44, Luke21:1-4. How can you compare putting a few coins in a contribution box with paying with a card at an ATM or at a credit card desk which they have in some European countries? The people who have said we don't use cash much in Europe any more, nonsense. I use coins all the time. Unbelievable, this religion is taking you for a ride and you can't see it.

JWs no longer taking the Governing Body seriously.
by kneehighmiah inthe recent letter being us to come to detroit shows that jws are beginning not to take the gb seriously anymore.
the buzz following the meeting was that the letter was unprecedented in its tone.
this coming from long time jws of 30 years plus.
