Hello, I am new
by LillyC ini am not a jehovah's witness but i am very interested, i have many questions and hope they can be answered here.. i do believe in god, privately.
i do say my prayers daily and do believe god helps me in countless ways.
but i don't go to any church.. i have always been impressed at how smart, polite and nice jehovah's witnesses are and i always make time to speak to them when they call at my door.

Critical Thinking from the Wife !!
by TTATTelder inthe other day i had a couple of drinks and went off on the gb (again), about how they are just posturing and have no clue.
i said if they knew what they were talking about we would already be in the new world, but we're not ..so they dont...the end.. well i got some push back as would be expected, but what surprised me was what she said a little later.
firstly she didn't pay attention to the public talk this past sunday and instead read an article in a watchtower on stress.

You're right usually there's a cover-all response to any physical problem with the human body that it's because of imperfection and Adam and Eve. Well done keeping your cool, it's very exciting for you!

We know he's taking the piss sparrow, why does that concern you? As Finkelstein says 'can't tell if trolling or just very stupid'. If it gives us the opportunity to tell a few home truths about this cult what of it?

.... and the best way to die, still waiting for the New System. Just like my mother did, who thought her children would never go to school before the end came. In another twenty years or so those children will die too, still waiting.

Just suppose the GB decided.........
by Phizzy innow, i know this is preposterous, in fact totally an unbelievable hypothesis, but what if the gb decided that to go more mainstream and pick up more suckers, sorry, converts, they had received new light that the basic idea of the trinity was true.. obviously they could not be as blatant about it so as to say something like the various creeds say, but i can see a way that they could teach something that was more akin to mainstream christianity, and would make them seem less wacky-weird in comparison.. how on earth would the old-school dubs react ?
it would shake them up so much !.
i know this is far-fetched, but i do see them doing something similar eventually, some years down the line, when they are running out of cash.

Yes I think they could easily move the holy spirit into more centre stage without using the word trinity. Isn't it still part of the baptism questions? After a couple of study articles about how important the three things together are Jehovah, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, no-one would even notice if they used it more often.

New Year Resolution: A new recipe every week
by Simon inwe decided we don't cook enough and are pretty bored of what we usually eat (whether home-made or eating out).. so .... our new years resolution for 2014 is to try a new recipe every week.. so far we've done some jamie olivers roasted vegetables and right now we're making cornish-like pasties.
apparently, people are very militant about exactly what a cornish pastie is so our's are cornish-like because dammit, we wanted peas and carrots and whatever seasoning we wanted to stick in there too!.
smells delicious and can't wait to eat them.. i also invented a new dish using a leftover half-tin of garden peas and a slice of bread.

Tried this on the weekend.
Roast some vegetables in the oven with a little olive oil and salt.
I used courgette slices, red onions chopped, couple of whole garlic cloves, red pepper (capsicum) cut into largish pieces, tomatoes.Takes 30-40 mins.
Cook pasta (I used tortiglioni) and drain.
Blend some mascarpone cheese into the pasta and warm through.
Add roasted veg., mix together.
Serve with a helluva lot of red wine. Delicious.
