Education, education, education....

an update on my life post education..... as the governing body continue to denounce higher education, reality continues to prove their words ignorant, ill informed and blatant lies.

i am proud and astonished to say i have just been accepted for a university teaching hospital post.

i have a seriously sought after, senior house officer job in intensive care, endocrinology and clinical pharmacology.

Congratulations Snare on your new job!

When I started my degree after leaving the WTS it felt like my brain was made of rusty cogs that were creaking slowly around as I tried to apply myself to reading and getting myself to think. I actually enjoy thinking now, it's one of my favourite things.

I have found myself becoming a neophile rather than a neophobe. Learning and experiencing new things is fun! When I think of sitting in a KH hearing the same boring nonsense over and over I can't believe I stuck it at all.

I'm so glad you're having a great life after all your hard work.

Edited to say for those in the UK who have to work and study to financially recover from a JW life, pioneering and so on, the Open University is a great way to do it.

Defender of Truth, you're right I'm so thankful that I managed to leave before I had my daughter and she hasn't been subjected to all these threats. Trying to prevent her going to university or make normal friends or have birthdays.

So happy I didn't subject my little girl to that, but sometimes I forget and grumble because life isn't perfect and she has relatives that shun her. Life's so much better than it would have been had I had to drag her to meetings and force her to be weird while at school. Thanks for the reminder.

Rational Buddhism?

does a type of buddhism exist that doesn't include the metaphysical aspects of traditional buddhism?

I went to Western Buddhist meditation classes at a library years ago. The guided meditation was brilliant, very relaxing. There was also a teaching section which I didn't like because to me Western Buddhism sounded just like Christianity, giving your belongings away and self-sacrifice. There was no mysticism however.

when they so cleverly predicted to us all that the world would turn against them, something that has not happened despite over a 100 years of taunting power and opposing religious figures, now it is likely to begin, they failed to mention that it would be due to rampant paedophilia in 'gods earthly organisation'.what a wholesome enviroment to grow up in and raise a child.. we have heard it said many times here that the jw's won't last as they are so entrenched in trends, so opposite to modern human progress, culture and society, they stand out as more extremist and inhumane by the year, mocked regularly in the media now.

I think the timing is bad for the Borg. Even if JWs refuse to read those newspapers the public will challenge them about it at their literature trolleys and at the door, especially with the memorial campaign meaning more d2d work.

Coming in the wake of the Jimmy Saville, Rolf Harris, Gary Glitter etc etc stories it is bad timing indeed. However I am jumping up and down with glee!

Why are extraterrestrials pictured in ugly form in movies?

Lots of attractive aliens in the Star Trek movies and series. Lots of beautiful and handsome Vulcans, Romulans, Klingons. You Brahma Kumaris people don't actually watch sci fi do you? Oh of course your cult doesn't allow it.
