Is this how you saw your Armageddon? I sure did :(
by Diogenesister ini think most of our imaginations of the new world was probably nothing like the watchtower reality.
after all, we jws are very good at avoiding uncomfortable truths!
you can tell micheal jackson was a certain type of jehovahs witness.

Hi Diogenesister, I think I saw the earth transformed, beautiful mountains, rivers, trees and animals. Just like the pictures in the literature! But I didn't imagine being anywhere near JWs especially elders because I was sick of the unpleasant people who just seemed to want to bite and tear at one another.
Basically I wanted to escape to the country! 😀 Just me, my lovely husband, a few animals and have some babies. What's so sad is that was completely doable without that damn religion and its fantasy world.

How much longer until more people believe the earth is flat?
by Crazyguy2 inhow much longer until more people believe the earth is flat then there are jws?
with these youtube channels using propaganda and the bible i believe over a million people now believe the earth is flat.
it maybe not much longer.

It's one way for stupid, uneducated people to feel superior to scientists. To feel they have knowledge beyond the lies they see the establishment is trying to fool them with. Very similar to religious cults.

'Spiritual food' and the global south
by john.prestor ini'm watching john cedars rebuttal of the annual meeting, and right at the start stephen lett starts going on and on about spiritual food, how nutritious it is, how filling it is, it comes across as weird but it doesn't help admittedly that the guy looks like bozo the clown forgot his act.
but the thought just came to me as i'm eating dinner.. not everybody gets dinner.
not everybody gets three meals a day.

I always think this about the drivel that comes out of the mouths of some people in first world countries to those in developing countries. Work hard and you will prosper, a positive mental attitude is the key, nobody ever died from hard work.
Rubbish, poor people have been working themselves to exhaustion for centuries but corrupt governments, poor nutrition and inadequate medical care kill them and their children.
They don't need platitudes from anyone, certainly not rich American GB members that never do a day's work and get treated like celebrities everywhere they go.

Waking up can be a scary time
by Leopold theseconed inas a person that has recently come to terms with the reality that the truth is not really the truth .
does anyone else remember the feeling when they realized things were just not true.
it’s wierd all the years i spent preaching i never really considered what it must have felt like to have two people at your door trying to convince you that your religion of birth was a lie.

Hey Leopold I do remember realising there was no such God as Jehovah. It was like that scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade when they have to step out onto what looks like thin air.
Nothing under me to catch me anymore. No big protective person looking out for me and about to step in and make the world all cuddly and lovely. Lion and lamb stuff you know?
I felt dizzy and sick at the thought of it.
Thirty years down the line and I'm glad there is no big daddy watching everything I do. Now my life is down to me and that's the way I like it.

Life as a Perfect Human in the New System of Things
by RubaDub ini have always wondered how basic things that we do to ourselves will be handled as "perfect" human beings.. i recall someone here had a quote from an old wt that said that if we fall off a roof or something that there will be some "force" to soften the fall and we will not be injured.. but, as a perfect human, if we travel to mexico and drink water from the tap, will we get the squirts, flying shits, montezuma's revenge, or whatever you wish to call it?
maybe we will be protected as perfect human beings and have colons that also are perfect.
but who knows.. just pondering these common things that we take for granted.. rub a dub.

You think a lot about these sorts of things don't you RubaDub. Did you used to install bathrooms before you retired? 😀 -

My Bible Study Conductor's Letter to Me
by ohnightdivine inrecently, i wrote a sister, my bible study conductor, an email just telling her that i thought of her, and i thanked her for being a part of some milestones in my life many many years ago.
(for those who are reading my post for the first time, i was a very impressionable teenager at that time and i had the chance to live in their country for a while, spent much time with her, got to know her way of living, and essentially she became my life's mentor.
closer to me than family.

I'm sorry OND I understand your sadness. I left home at nineteen and went to another congregation to pioneer. I have very fond memories of the lovely people in that congregation. When you're a teenager they can be very kind, motherly and protective. The kindness makes a big impression at that age.
Sometimes I too dream about that congregation, l wake up with a lovely feeling. It's just sad that they probably wouldn't speak to me if I contacted them now. Of course I can't say for sure but my pioneer partner from that town whom I lived with for a year doesn't contact me anymore so that gives me an idea.
It's rough I know!

'A great contraction' - selling your meeting places from under you and stealing what you paid for them to fund court payouts from allowing pedophiles in this spiritual paradise.
We don't care how far the elderly people have to travel, not our problem.

Never in my wildest dream would I ever see one of those dog gone carts
by Tameria2001 ini moved to where i'm currently living for 10 years now.
once in a while, i would have jws come to my door and every single time either i or my husband would send them on their merry way, although my husband is quite rude about it.
i'm not sure when the cart witnessing (or whatever it is called) started up, but the only time i ever heard about it was on the internet, or someone here talking about it.

When you ask JWs why they think they have the truth one of the big proofs was because they were fulfilling Matt 24:14 and preaching the good news to the whole world.
How does it sit with them now that the 'preaching' is done by people hiding behind a cart drinking coffee, checking their phones and talking to no one?

These groups all say, ‘We want to give you a new way of looking at reality and a new way of coping with the world in which you live,’” Embree said. “Probably none of these groups that I just named are particularly physically threatening
Interesting, I've always thought the JW religion is for people who just can't cope with reality. Can't cope with the thought of dying, the fact that war and crime exist. Many can't even cope with getting an education and a job and love being told don't bother.
The cult isn't physically threatening as Embree says but how mentally threatening. Giving people a new way of looking at reality which is delusional.
