do you find yourself, since leaving the religion, having an exhorbitant amount of personal paradigm shifts?.
sometimes i question my sanity.. i feel so open to ideas...don't know where to start sometimes.. don't feel dogmatic about too many things...maybe feel that it just 'isn't for me'...at least for right now (lol).... but in all of this, i never tire of these epiphanies and spontaneous feelings of gratefulness and love.. .
does anyone else out there experience this ?.

The continual personal paradigm shifts, yes we used to feel like we were breaking through a pane of glass each time.
I still get them but not so often but as long as I can still change my mind I know I am still alive.

but still this religion fascinates me.
in my eyes most jw are very sincere, but dumb sheep.. this board is filled with ex-jw.
Strict obedience, yes. But to who? The JW who doesn't buy a political party card: is that because they don't want to disappoint the the GB? The average JW probably doesn't even know their names. When they don't salute the flag: is that because they are afraid of the elders? Maybe in some cases, especially the ones who have some doubts. But they will not stand firm for long.
I'm not sure where you're going with this thread 1009? Are you trying to defend the individual JWs as being basically good people whilst agreeing that the GB have become corrupt? I am sure most people on this board agree with that.
The individual JW will endure hard times because of the conviction that it is God's will.
Yes and that is what many of us would like to try and prevent especially those who have families and friends still in. They don't need to endure any more hard times. It's an illusion created by that organisation by
a) Working the members half to death and causing chronic illness and psychiatric problems.
b) Forcing the members, by the use of weird doctrines, to be no part of the world which gives them a persecution complex because no normal person can understand them.
We want to see an end to endurance in 'this wicked old system' and a return to joy and freedom and a love for life.
many of us i'm sure experienced embarrassing or comical moments as a witness.
some things we'd rather just forget , i'm sure, but some things helped us think on our feet, quickly in helping others .

Oh don't get me started about dogs out in fs. I was bitten on the behind by a German Shepherd. That's a dog breed in case you're not a dog person!

i sat in the community garden tonight and talked with one of my neighbors, an old lady in an electric wheelchair.
she was telling me she won't be able to garden next year, it's getting to hard for her since her stroke.
so we talked about her stroke.
Hortensia that is what irritates me the most that they thank God or Jesus but not the person who did the kind action. Most people do good things but if religious people only see god in everything they are dismissing all of humanity as useless. This is so bad for you psychologically I think. We need to give credit where credit is due. Some laws politicians pass are good, charities do fantastic work for the poor internationally. Individuals in the main are good to their own families and look after their neighbours and friends.
i keep seeing people on here (and other places) talk about the wbts making money .

Adamah I agree with everything you say on Milgram, mob mentality, losing your humanity by shunning at the command of an organisation. However how to present this to family members who are shunning me is the problem. They would not talk to me about it and if I put it in a letter they would not reply. This has gone on for almost 25 years. I basically just get on with my life and leave them to it, I've tried everything I can think of.

Not really tootired2care in my view because again one can say that even human parents can decide to allow and even give some level of pain, suffering, challenge and so on to kids for developmental purposes. The kids by definition will never understand it on the level of the parents - Seraphim23
With children eventually they do understand why they have to do boring, repetitive or challenging things sometimes. It is not true to say they will never understand it on the same level as the parents. At the very latest they will understand when they have children of their own.
However we have to go our whole lives wondering why God permits suffering.
Of course the cults are queuing up to enlighten us, and take our freedom away.
i have been out for 22 years.i was raised as a jehovahs witness.
i was baptized in 1986 but soon after left the religion.
theres a whole lot to the reasons why i left, but i left.
So, I was a happy witness by not acceptating all the teachings. Just don't talk about it to loudly - 1009
