Just remember having one telephone conversation with my sister about what was wrong in the WTS and that we were were thinking of leaving. Before I finished she interrupted with, well if you do neither I nor my husband will ever speak to you again.
Like flicking a switch they decide who to love and who to stop loving in a matter of minutes. If that's brotherly love I'd rather have normal humanity.

just found out this morning.

Perry that's really awful, I'm so sorry. Losing your mother is a very deep hurt and it has been made unnecessarily more painful by heartless people. My thoughts are with you. -

Does Anyone Have Knowledge About Follicular B Cell Lymphoma and Blood Transfusions?
by jamiebowers infrom what i've read, platelet and red blood cell levels are usually severely lowered during traditional treatment for this type of cancer.
is this correct?
and if so, are platelets and red blood cells now part of the watch tower approved fractions?

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I don't know if this is any use to you but my cousin has a condition where she has developed a very low platelet count, dangerously low, she could bleed to death if she cuts herself. She has been treated with steroids which has brought the count up over a number of months. -

First thoughts on "new" meeting...
by konceptual99 inhad a quick look at the workbook and flicked through the sample meeting video.. the increased use of video shows the trend for more centralised dissemination of "best practice" .
sure there isn't really a "school" any more and the format is a bit different but i think those that called it as the same old crap just in new package got it pretty much right.

So first they say there will be no student talks but apparently the 'brother' was counselled. So does this mean women are being removed from the platform altogether if they're not giving student talks? -

The guy who introduces this vid, he looks more like one of the people who are really in charge of this corporation. Not the usual soppy GB member, this guy looks like a hit man. -

Why don't you do anything?
by WireRider ini'm not jw, so i see this all standing up and very clear from an outsider perspective (i am still seeking my path).
i joined the blog a few weeks ago.
i dated a divorced jw (jw from birth) for a couple of years recently.

If it blows up from within - all will be free.
This shows a lack of understanding of mind control cults I'm afraid. If all the branch offices had to close because of massive litigation payouts to child abuse victims many ordinary JWs would continue to believe.
They would think it was persecution and a sign we are near THE END. These people are trapped by mind control not by evidence. Some would leave but others would reform into a scattered survival cult, surviving the persecution and still waiting for the end.

i'm changing, but for the worse
by embarrassed inthat is the truth-- that's really how i think now.
so why should i tell the truth?
just look at the person i've become.

Embarrassed welcome. I was like you, I never told a lie for the first thirty years of my life as a JW but I've changed since leaving the JWs. I don't think it's wicked to tell the occasional lie, to prevent hurt feelings, to keep things to yourself when someone is being intrusive or just to make life a little easier.
I think that people who habitually lie are screwing with their own heads. It actually can become a mental illness. A person I worked with used to trump anything I said with something bigger. When my little girl had tonsillitis, her sister had died from it. When I had to have a root canal at the dentist, she had nine done all in one day. When I mentioned it to colleagues they said she makes stuff up like this all the time.
This is an extreme example of course of someone who has a mental health problem but I think that people who habitually lie to others also lie to themselves. They live in denial about all sorts of things they should face up to which messes up their life.
So whereas an occasional lie to smooth relationships is nothing to be embarrassed about I think habitually lying is changing reality in our own heads which stops us facing up to life and making the changes we need to make to be happy.
