Wow he's going to seize the property of any foreign national individual or corporation he deems to have committed human rights abuses. Does that include manufacturers using sweat shops? This is so open to interpretation. Thanks for posting.

Intro
by jc1985 inhello all, many years i have been lurking on this site.
gradually i’ve learned the real truth, gone from serving as a servant and at bethel to inactive for almost a year, barely ever wasting time going to meetings.
my family is large and very active and so is my wife’s so leaving altogether is difficult.. though it seems now that everything is about to change.

Pacifism is Morally Indefensible
by cofty ini have been surprised recently to see so much support by ex-jws for the watchtower's refusal to fight and kill.
in my opinion it is a vice masquerading as a virtue.
of course war should always be a last resort but there are occasions that it has to be done.

Owning a firearm and shooting a burglar would get you in front of a JC
In this country it would get you in front of a judge and then on remand awaiting trial. It's happened, infantile or not.

I know this shouldn’t bother me...but
by MTSman inso i woke up this morning with nothing planned for the day.
i rolled out of bed around 9am and went to local mcky ds to get some breakfast, and lord and behold there was a group of jdubs sitting around eating and sipping on coffee, probable counting time.
anyway, i glanced over and recognized all of them and they glanced back at me.

Is there anyone else that gets annoyed by people who act self righteous even though they really shouldn’t?
Yeah my brother did this to me at my uncle's funeral. My siblings ignored me at the crematorium but when we went back to my aunt's house I went in to the kitchen to help her of course while the JWs sat on their bums as usual. Did they expect her to feed them all on her own after her husband's funeral?
Anyway she kept asking me to go in and ask them what they wanted to drink and then what sandwiches they wanted, then what cake. My brother, the elder, looked at me as though I'd crawled out from under a stone. He didn't want to speak to me but seeing as I'd been put in charge of food what could he do!
He was getting angrier and angrier and redder and redder. I tell you it was all I could do not to laugh my head off. You've just got to enjoy their craziness. I thought he was going to explode! So funny!

Encounter with a long time elder. (Jehovah's happy people)
by freddo inso i'm at work and go to my vehicle parked outside the empty property i'm working at and an elderly man comes out of next door and we recognise each other from when we were elders in the same circuit.
he is early 80's in age, a jw since the 1960's and so the next generation in age up from me.. he's an outwardly jolly sort and asks how i am etc.
(knows i'm not an elder but thinks i'm pimi) and asks if i want a cup of tea so i go in and sit in his kitchen for my lunchbreak and have a chat.. i have a little fish around and ask about how jw's in his hall are.

I see this in my siblings and a friend who got in touch a while ago. One sister has type two diabetes, the other has fibromyalgia and ME and my brother has piled on the weight and looks very depressed.
The friend, her husband is blind in one eye from neglecting glaucoma for a year and is still driving to do his work! She's struggling with doing housework for a living. They're both in their sixties.
All crying out for the new system, just living day by day waiting for J to put an end to their trouble. Yet I'm convinced all their illnesses are caused by the sheer exhaustion of following that religion! The solution is to quit the cult and live their own lives. Concentrate on looking after their health, earning a living and enjoying life as much as they can.
This religion creates problems for people so that it can then present them with a solution. Only without the religion there wouldn't be half the problems and they wouldn't be looking to the fantasy solution which never comes.

Welcome me
by natasha inhello brothers and sisters am new here , what is the website all about ?.
-
Xanthippe
Hi Natasha and welcome to the forum. What is it about? Well I remember hearing years ago in a talk that a person's religion is very often an accident of birth. In other words where in the world you are born and which family you are raised in affects what you usually grow up to believe.
I often used this in field service to encourage the householder to examine their own religion. This is a forum where many that were raised in the JW religion do just that, freely and without censure, examine the beliefs they were raised with. Ask as many questions as you like. Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing this LisaRose. I do feel so sorry for that poor young woman. The thought of what she'd been through and then those stupid old men disfellowship her.
Growing up in a congregation you’re always aware that you are seen as a lesser being, that you have a position underneath men.
I have said this many times and I would like to point it out again that right from birth you are a lesser being in this religion despite a very vociferous poster who keeps insisting that women have an easy time of it.
