Kairos is going through a divorce from the woman he still loves who only half believes this cult but has chosen it instead of him. I think that would make me want to shout at cultists peddling this nonsense in the streets. I'm not saying I would give into the urge to shout at them but I can see where you're coming from Kairos.

by kairos inso i roll up to the job site and looky there, two uber pioneer dubs dragging themselves down the sidewalk.
both ladies are in there early 60's and born in.. my heart started pumping, but i had to act.i was directly across the street from them.
i walked right to the sidewalk and said in a very loud, but not mean voice: "you can't teach overlapping generations from the bible!!

So if someone who used to go to church becomes a JW and starts taking the emblems he/she is spiritually weak or nuts but a guy can move to America, work near the GB and lo and behold he's suddenly one of the anointed?

Bethelites Vow Of Poverty
by pale.emperor informer governing body assistant howie tran has shared his bethel vow of poverty contract.
it reads rather culty.
i think clause number 9 is particularly worrying...to adhere to, not the bible alone, but also the watchtower literature and the governing body.

That is precisely what they are. - Morph
Well you have to hope the married couples in Bethel don't live like monks and nuns.

Anyone know the significance of the three days and nights Jesus is dead?
by Crazyguy inin my studies i’ve come to realize that most dying and rising gods such as inanna, jesus and others all were dead three days and nights.
the moon is dead as far as man not being able to see it in the sky three days and nights but many of these gods are not associated with the moon, osiris maybe being the only exception.
have any of you in your research come up with a plausible idea on why there all dead just threes days and three nights?.

Yes I seem to remember the Hindu god Krishna has a lot of similarities with Jesus but I don't know the significance of the three days.

God and the afterlife. Do you need to believe in both
by moley ini consider myself an atheist, i completely reject the idea of a totalitarian desert god/any god and the bible is a book of fairytales and folk legends.. i do however sort of believe that this life is not all there is.
i’m not talking about heaven or hell but in a tangible state of being.. there are a few experiences i’ve had in my llife.
could be imagined could be real.

God and the afterlife. Do you need to believe in both
There are many atheists like myself who believe in an afterlife. I found the first clue in a second-hand bookshop about thirty years ago. Since then I've read many books about near death experiences, people from all walks of life reporting them, many without any religious belief.
Of course the evidence is anecdotal rather than empirical. Scientists can't try killing people and reviving them! The lack of oxygen to the brain causing hallucinations explanation doesn't stack up. Low oxygen, for example causing altitude sickness, results in confusion and little memory of what happened. NDE experiences are crystal clear and people remember them for decades.
The ones that report conversations, their hospital surroundings or what relatives were doing miles away while they were being revived are the most interesting of course.

I sent off my application to study Palaeobiology (MSc) at Bristol uni and ...
by LoveUniHateExams in... they've accepted me!
finance is already sorted - they're waiting for me to give them my new student number so that they can start paying me.
just need to formally accept bristol's offer and sort out accommodation.. accommodation should be ok - i've been told priority is given to new students, plus i'm enrolling onto a program for a real degree as a postgraduate - i won't be studying gender studies or some crap like that.

What immodest clothing have you got in trouble for wearing?
by Addison0998 ini personally have a very distinct sense of style and fashion which many of the fellow jdubs frown upon.
recently, i was told by a few specially self righteous ones that i looked like a prostitute in a pair of white boots!
a pair of 3 inch heeled, just a little taller than the ankle boots, with skirt that came down to my knees and a black long sleeve shirt that came up to my collarbone.
