Scriptural Attendance
by NeverKnew ini'm watching a jw who is running himself into the ground.. before his last meeting, he sounded really agitated about his life's schedule.
all i could think of was how the wts was in his way.
2 service meetings a week (one where a presentation of some sort may have to be given).

Never Knew, seems you really care about someone.
Its a dreadful vortex, and very repetitive.
I went to ONE meeting this year after no having gone in over ten, and nothing changed.
Its just a hamster wheel of busyness to distract people from having a real life, career, and relationships.
Most people attend but just wait for it to be over.
On the bright side, there is an occasional slice of pie.

How do you keep your hopes up while in this doomed existence?

sure, facts are facts and they do not set out to sound good or bad, but instead of identifying the problems of doom, like our brains are devolving, why not focus on the solutions to those problems?
where are the hopes and dreams that our culture so desperately holds onto which actually provides the drive to progress towards them.

as a woman you are expected to wear a below knee length skirt or dress.

There are dreadfully uncomfortable chairs, not pews and remember, this is first and foremost a publishing companies- dont expect bibles offered to people- everyone has their personal copy which they have donated good money for. If you ask, there will be an extra copy for yout to borrow, but you must ask.
Others will carry book bags, but dont sweat it.
Ditto on the out of town story, that would work.

Do JWs Still Feel The Need To Understand Their Teachings Or Have They Pretty Much Abandoned That Idea?
by minimus ini think most jws do not know how to explain their religious beliefs.
i don't think they could explain their views of 607 b.c.e.
, 1914, any prophetic bible books, the old vs. the new fds understanding, the blood fraction reasoning, etc.. do you think the average witness is able to explain from the bible why they believe things as they do?.

Dreaming of witnesses

i do all the time and they wont stop.
i wake up with cold sweats and an upset stomach.

Here is a repost of one my dreams from an older thread:
From time to time I have an apocalyptic nightmare, which I attribute to the WT doctrines being planted in my head from birth.
Recently, I dreamed I was standing in a skyscraper in NYC when a flying metal sphere came into my hands. From the window I could see the city was exploding- (looking south towards lower Manhattan) The metal sphere was a homing device for the missiles as well as camera which was observing- anyway I grabbed it and decided that as it was directing the attack, the attack would end with me. so I held it up at the window where I could see the city being destroyed- flames, explosions, orange grey- and as I did the missiles headed my way. Everyone in the building was screaming and eventually I was being dragged away along a wall although I could no longer see at all, and I knew we would all die in a matter of moments.
Then I woke up.
That was a few days ago but I can't quite shake the sights or the absolute evil of the metal sphere device.
Anyone else have end of the world nightmares?
All the cult books says its a side effect.
