Does God really have a personal name?
by XPeterX inthe bible says that the personal name of god is jehovah/yahweh/jah etc.thing is,we don't know it's correct pronounciation (or the pronounciation of any hebrew name).the name jehovah as we know it today means "he causes to become".someone who causes something to become is just called "creator" or "maker".right?he gave that name to his self so that people or the angels could call him by a name.also,how was he called before the creation of the anything?how can some people claim to be his friends if they don't know his actual name?discuss.

When you self- identify as annointed, no one else is needed to verify your status, so no one can give it or take it away, except Big J if you believe in that vengeful minor god.
The worst People will do is just roll their eyes, especially if you are a lonely redheaded divorced female. (just my observation).

Smiley happy people
by Simon inup here in canadia we have a lot of filipino people doing jobs that many other people may not want to do.
we often come across them working in low paid jobs at mcdonalds or other fast food places or the bottle depot or wherever.. but boy, do they seem happy !.
not only do they always seem to be really hard working and dilligent but also genuinely happy with big beaming beautiful smiles.. they must have some different outlook on life that works great - anyone know what it is?.

Smiles, especially in the service industry, are more of a social tool than individual expression.

I need some serious advice...
by confusedteenager ini'm almost a year out of high school and of course, i'm not in college.
i'm a pioneer (sigh) with little to no work experience and having a really hard time finding any work.
i want to go back to college, but it's going to be difficult now that i'm a pioneer, and my parents cannot really afford the loans that will incur should i pursue going to college.

Do you live in the US
if so, did you know that if your parents are middle class or below you likely qualify for a federal Pell grant, up to 5000$ per year which you do not have to pay back. I advise you to go to college. If you are scared to make the leap, you can take it step by step- educate yourself on what you need to do.
It is doable and worth the investment.

As a born in- it takes a lot of effort to shake the worldview that the world is ruined or going to be destroyed.
When you grow up with this bullshit you have to deprogram yourself. I have found it easiest to be around people who were never exposed to this crap,
because even ex JWs- or any apocalyptic people, maintain a suspicion that they are gonna get smited.
I mean, go to school and look at everyone around you as dead meat for 12 years is just not healthy.

How Many Anointed Have There Been?
by konceptual99 inhas there ever been any research done to indicate how many individuals have claimed to be anointed since 33 c.e.?.
basically, all the congregation from 33ce to (say) around 90ce was, then it dropped down to indiividuals until growth from 1870ish.. the whole congregation of that period from late 19thc until 1935 was anointed and since then it has been dipping then growing.. there must be an allowance for those that would not have been anointed through that period.. have any estimates been done?
is the pool of individuals in the first centuary and the modern day history so big as to completely blow the number of 144000 out of the window?.

If Jesus only died for 144,000- doesnt that seem kind of silly- I mean we are taught how much he suffered, if he really is the son of God wouldnt he come for EVERYONE- why would he be a snob and say: This only applies to 144000 of all 10 billion people there will ever be on earth. That doesnt make sense.
