Was the legend about Smurfs being demonic just an urban legend, or was it mentioned in the literature?

i never heard about the smurfs being evil until i joined the forum.

but when i look in the volume library, the word doesn't come up.

i was wondering if anyone ever heard mention of it in the literature--as in, was it an official position?.

I used to read Grimms fairytales as a kid but they were taken away because I was having nightmares. Funny my parents blames the bad dreams on fairy tales- not the violent imagery of a muderous Gods rage at Armageddon- not drowning moms and babies at the flood, not the hours and hours of exposure to that material (ILLUSTRATED) which threatened to take out me, my mom and dad, everything I knew at any moment.

No, no, Hansel and Gretel is much worse. Smurfs. lucky charms, those are the real agents of psychological harm.

Could you live with not talking to your JW family for the rest of your life?

one of greatest obstacles to leaving the organization is the destruction of the family unit.

as lady-lee wrote about oompa, i thought of this topic, the society says "this is their way to get wrong doing people to return to the loving arms of jehovah after they repent of their sins" .

i know of men and women who are in good standings and hate their fellow spiritual jw family, i am willing to bet, wager that "jw-hatred" exceeds the worlds hatred, something about a self-assured group versus the "not so self assured' creates one plucked up structure.

You hear some on JWN saying how they're caught in a trap between losing their JW family or escaping the religion. It's easy to "romanticize" family members as something that you'd miss, where the reality for many is that they already ARE absent emotionally, so what you're grieving in many cases is the IDEA of a loving family you never even had, and not the REALITY of the family that you actually HAD.

i am a born again christian, not a jehovah's witness.

i have had many experiences with god, hearing god's voice, seeing minor miracles, have seen a woman healed instantly through prayer in jesus name.

what is your view on the miraculous.

age group 14-18.. i have only made one stipulation.

reading steven hassan's book combating cult mind control and a 4 page essay.. over the top?.

invitation is from another youth with protestant christian evangelical parents.

Look at it this way- if your kid is sixteen- in 2 years they will legally be making their own decisions.

It would be better to train them to think critically and be discriminating then try to limit their exposure to new experiences.

Help them grow up by letting them make their own decisions.

I find the speculation on here to be crude and inappropriate.

JW or not, this is a terrible tragedy, especially for her husband who clearly loves her deeply in those photographs.

My thoughts are with him.

he said the event has been built into the citys annual budget for awhile.. the approval came during a closed session after the regular sept. 18 city council meeting.

Hello everyone

i have been trying to get on with my life without jehovah's witnesses and my mom.

just to let you know briefly about me......i was pretty much raised a jw by my mom.

she never let me know my dad because he was "worldly" and was going to die soon.

At a certain age you realize your parents are just people.

I am now alone without a parent. My Mom showed such interest in me after my Dad died. I felt like she loved me again

This makes me feel like you are just waiting for your parent to notice you.

JW love is conditional, and assuming you are an adult, you have to move on and stop expecting or needing them to love you. I dont know how old you are, but add 20 years to you age, and imagine, do you want to be that old waiting for mom to validate you and love you.

Thats what I have seen my own mother do, trying to secure love she will never get from her own family. Its sad at any age, but once a person hits middle age it is absolutely pathetic. Try to find love elsewhere. Try loving someone else first. Waiting to receive love is a guarantee for disappointment.

How can anyone really be a 100% confident atheist given the paranormal and occult?

i don't believe the bible is inerrant nor do i hold a 'christian worldview' any longer as my profile details say (which i am unable to update on my profile), but i just can't see how anyone can be absolutely 100% confident there is nothing out there we can call a 'god' or spirit creature in the face of endless first-hand accounts of paranormal and occult experiences that felt as 'real' to the person who experienced them as anything else in their lives.. there are untold reports of ghosts, faith-healing, ouija boards, seances, spirit mediums, stigmata, mystical born-again experiences, speaking in tongues, and then there's hypnotism, ufo sightings, poltergeists, remote viewing, etc, etc.

ok, so its mostly only anecdotal evidence, but the amount of it is so overwhelming it is practically corroborating evidence.

in the face of all this, how can anyone categorically assert that there is nothing out there that is beyond ourselves that we might call a 'god' or spirit creature?

I do not have sleep paralysis.

I have seen more than one full sized human ghosts while wide awake.

They are just there.

Only some people get stuck as ghosts. Like regulars in a bar.

I did not make it up, either. If I was going to make a up a ghost, it would be more entertaining than those I have seen. Also, the ones Ive seen have startled me because they appear when I am not expecting them. then they go away.
