i am new to here so please be bear with me.. i have always believed in god, but was never baptised, my parents wanted me to make up my own mind religon wise.. i am thinking of becoming a jw and am just needing some advice on how to do this, bible study and jw beliefs.

also do jw say grace and how.. i am greatful of any help.. thanks.

Some people here are paranoid, just ignore them. Most people here are really good, smart, and can answer any question you have. If you do want to study, which probably we would all suggest you not, but if you do, you can freely ask questions here.

Take your time with the study, check the facts and have confidence that you can make a good decision for yourself.

Sorry to hear you are depressed. What part of the witness doctrine interests you the most, right now. What made you agree to a study ?

the case is garnering national attention.

it's pretty evident that both murderer and victim were jws, most likely in "good standing".

the jw angle is playing more prominently as details unfold.

A problem with my daughter

should i try to dissuade my daughter from being baptized?

she doesn't seem to be in hurry.

all her " friends " are already baptized, some since early childhood which is ridiculous in my opinion.

Here is what I think you should do.

Tell her you love her.

Tell her she is responsible for her decisions. This is a serious decision. One that would be best made when she is absolutely sure.

Assuming she knows about your doubts, tell her some questions about the org are coming up for you.

But you trust her to find her way. Actually you are in a similar process of finding, learning.

A serious commitment like this should only be made with total certainty.

Make sure she knows you care about her, that is the number one, baptisim or no baptism.

Alot of times the commitment is made to seek approval from withholding parents and friends.

I read all your posts when you first came here. Im glad you are seeing a therapist. They are not magicians but they do help. Maybe you should even ask the therapist if he is lying to you. why not.

I dont think I have gone through all you have, but I remember being in a weird situation where I wanted to hurt a friend (emotionally) because I thought they just got whatever they wanted.

Anyway I did end up hurting this person- pretty badly. When I was sitting their with this person crying their eyes out next to me and feeling basically nothing I thought, wow, this is f,ed up!

If you can relate to that, you know what I mean. Even if you dont have much emotion, you do have thoughts. Your mind is basically big mess of neural pathways, which you can reroute and train.

has helped me overcome a lot of my negative attitudes towards other people.

Maybe you are a monster, maybe you are not, how would I know.

What I do know is that if I were still involved with JWs, I would probably be in a much worse place than you are. Take heart, stay strong, and try to imagine a good life on the outside of the cult.
