  Religion vs. Spirituality

  has anyone else noticed that we get a lot of "who has the truth" and "what is the true religion" type messages?

  but you never hear anyone ask something like "how do i develop authentic spirituality?

  " granted, the word spiritual is abstract and vague, but there is the matter of the individual aspect of the word spirituality.

  Obviously, there isn't 'a loving god' such as christians believe in, or a love/hate twofaced god of the wt. But, i believe, i sense something. Many mystics, both christian and non, who have gotten closer to it (god), say it cannot be described or named. It cannot be angered, made happy, or moved in any way by us.

  Maybe the original creator just made miniature versions of itself. Maybe these 'miniature versions' self organised and did everything else.

  If there is reincarnation, then all the suffering of one animal or one lifetime isn't so serious.

  Where does the allegory stop? Do you arbitrarily decide? How do you know he was in the wilderness a literal 40 days? How do you know the other temptations literally happened?

  Very good point. In my nonsarcastic posts i always try to encourage true spirituality.

  Many ways. Many roads lead to it. Many catholic saints did it. Sufis, pentacostalists, buddhists, hindus, shamans, nde experiencers, even some aitheists did it. Maybe it is a new stage in our developement.

  A good starting point is meditation 15 minutes per day.

  If it wasn't literal, then it wasn't true. Maybe it was an allegory to depict how jesus overcame temptaions. Maybe none of the jesus events are true. Maybe jesus never existed. Maybe these stories were centred around this guy just to give lessons.

  What is the true Religion?

  it seems to me this site is full of anti jehovah's witness members.its easy to point out weaknesses of others or the organization they represent.jehovah's witnesses do often with other religions.if you all have decided that jehovah's witnesses are bad people or that the organization is false,then which one is the true religion?which religion teaches the correct doctrines?which religion represents gods truth?this question is for anyone.i'm asking this question with sincerity.

  I too don't think that jws are bad people. I was one for 30 yrs. They are stuck in a bad system. Truth? Get two christians together and they will find something to disagree about. Groups are for those who feel lonely/insecure in their own beliefs.

  Form your own relationship w god. How? Meditate. Read about the great spiritual leaders such as catholic saints, buddha, hindu yogis. Read about near death experiences. Read joseph campbell. Read atheistic theories. Make up your own mind.

  I have come to the conclusion that their could be a different religion for each one. Groupthink is ok, but it is for kids (spiritually).

  UN involvement announced at Assembly?

  i heard from someone that the wts was going to or had already announced something about the un involvement at an assembly.

  anyone else heard of this or is it a local thing ?.

  i would guess they may have only done this because of the coverage in the uk national newspaper which they know they have to counter.

  Bible Error: Jesus Cures the Leper

  the author of mark thinks that jesus cured the leper after he cured simon peters mother-in-law, but the author of matthew says just the opposite: he thinks that jesus cured the leper before he cured the mother-in-law.

  they both cannot be right, so the bible is in error.

  You said, 'In faith I've had a spiritual experience of the resurrected Jesus'. I know this can be personal, and if you want to keep it that way, it's ok. I'm trying to understand if you had a vision type experience, or accepted in faith that jesus rose. I understand that the spiritual can't be percieved by means of the physical, but as much as we are spirit and into the spiritual world, we can at times get glimpes' of it. We have 5 senses, a spiritual sense would be another. With this other sense we could experience the spiritual and have a definite memory of it, comparable to percieving it with one or more of the other senses.
