  Has this always been on the JW News site, or is it something new? The date shows 4/15/2013. I'm thinking they posted this in response to what happened in Boston.

  When Disaster Strikes, Love Moves Us to Action

  In times of need, Jehovah’s Witnesses provide assistance to fellow believers and others. They do so as an expression of love, an identifying mark of true Christians.—John 13:35.

  What follows is a partial list of the help given over a 12-month period ending in mid-2012. The list does not include the spiritual and emotional care that always accompanies our efforts. Disaster Relief Committees appointed by our branch offices organized much of the assistance. In addition, local congregations regularly shared in the help given.

  They list a bunch of countries that they've participated in giving assistance to those affected by tragedies.

  I was thinking earlier, what if someone created a phony account of some outragous story about JWs providing assistance during the aftermath of this tragedy, and then posted it on Facebook just to see how many JWs would run with it?

  Controversial essay- cull 20% of the poor.

  a controversial essay is part of aussie news today.. the essence of it is that the state needs to kill about 20% of the poorest in the community, to fix its financial problems.

  it is, of course, claimed to be 'tongue-in-cheek,' but is there a sound basis to the concept?

  i sound very right-wing in saying that, but i live opposite a boarding house that is full of people who, i guess, would be prime candidates for the cull.

  I LOVE how you responded to his nonsense. LOVE IT!!!! That NAACP analogy was whewwww!!!!! Can it be any more apparent that so many JWs really could care less about what happens to non-JWs? All the while stating that they preach the good news because they love people. It's a joke. Heck, the average JW only cares about other JWs so much as it doesn't cramp their style.

  "Well you know how it is".....classic line when one doesn't know what to say. Have said it plenty enough times myself.

  Wow, Soontobe, that picture although it's just some individual walking across the rooftop, is chilling. If not for the even, it would be just some guy, but in the context of this story, it's kinda scary. Reminds me of the scene in, Signs, at the beginning with the alien on the rooftop looking in the window from the distance. Creepy.

  North Korea's not that stupid, but more importantly not that crazy. Whoever pulled this one is an individual or group of people not concerned with the repurcussions as if they've got nothing to lose. If I were a gambling man, I'd lean more to Islamist types, or, considering there's a major gun vote on the way, possibly some misguided "patriot." Then again, could be another "Joker" imitator.
