things you dont hear: Protest against Jehovah's Witnesses event in central Israel turns violent
by goingthruthemotions init funny how the cult will imbelish on somethings and others they just sweep under the rug and you never hear anything about it again.
i was just doing some searches on the internet and stumbled on this.
i had heard that the dub's were trying to get people to go to israel and then you never hear anything after that.

I think this report says more about the protesters than the JWs. Much as I have no time for The JW religion, the right to freedom of worship is important. They weren't harming anyone by meeting. If someone converts from Judaism to JW ism that's their choice. They're both as bad as each other. How can you not conclude that Judaism isn't just as controlling from this report? -

My experience with a Judicial Committee, when in my early 20's
by Dunedain ini joined this wonderful site, only a few weeks ago, although i have been away from the borg, for almost 20 years.
i didnt introduce myself, on a personal level, but i jumped right in, commenting, making threads, and just immersing myself in this community.
what a time, indeed, to be here, its almost as if i was "called" here, because the week i lurked, and joined, was when all this recent stuff came out.

Dunedain- thank you for your story. I have no words.
The elders in my judicial committees were doing their best to be merciful but the experience was still traumatic to say the least. Yours sounds absolutely horrific Especially for someone so young.
Nice to meet you and genuinely looking forward to hearing more about your life and experiences.

Thanks Steve2
Rebelfighter - erm...what? I wasnt making any reference whatsoever to you or anything you have posted. I believe I simply referred to the original post on this thread.
i do appreciate how inconsiderate wearing too much perfume may be to those who are sensitive. Someone once said to me that perfume should be discovered not announced...that said (and I can only go by the way I interpreted the original post) I kind of got the impression the OP was simply gloating over an opportunity to have a go at a couple of Witnesses, there was nothing interesting about it at all.
In my book wearing too much perfume is not as obnoxious as someone being, well, obnoxious. Had the callers not been JWs would the OP still have been just as abrupt? If no, then this was bullying behaviour. If yes, then this has nothing to do with JWs, it's just about callers in general wearing too much perfume, and that makes the title of this thread a bit pointless really doesn't it?
And by the way, I am technically an apostate ;)

I didn't like this OP. No matter how thoughtless someone is by wearing too much perfume, they don't need to be subjected to aggression. If I'm honest my immediate thoughts about the OP when reading it were "what a horrible person looking for an excuse to shout at these people" and "some people need to get a life". Yes I know that's very judgemental of me, but I was raised JW and some traits are hard to shake off.
But you know the most offensive thing about this? The title. It says "interesting visit" (sorry "intersting"). I was expecting some interesting debate, or an opportunity taken to wake up some JWs, but, no, this was just a boring excuse to belittle and intimidate a couple of strangers. Stereotypical apostate in fact ;)

We're not trying to convert you
by jws inrecently i saw a link to an article from the st. petersburg times (one of these links on the side of this forum to sometimes old articles).
it was an article about jws and their preaching work.
imo, middle to favorable.. but the one thing was from a door where the jws are saying they're not here to convert anyone, they just want to share a scripture.. what sort of bs is this?

The catchphrase when I was in was "We're not out to convert people, only they can do that themselves". Utter crap obviously, but that's the way we were taught to justify such glib statements. -

I need help finding 2 specific Awake or Watchtower articles from 70's or 80's regarding converting homosexuals.
by paul from cleveland ini remember reading at least 2 articles from the 70's or early 80's referencing people that supposedly changed from gay to straight while jehovah's witnesses.
i can't remember the specifics or maybe i was just reading that into the article at the time.
does anyone remember these articles or something similar?.

These articles make me so angry. These are the ones certain elders thrust in my face. I find the first one particularly repugnant that the guy left his partner - must have been very painful for the other guy but it's just glossed over as if no importance - he had his chance and didn't take it". What a load of evil crap.
