the article says in part the following.. I like the way it has gone from "Ocean levels are not rising in the Southern Hemisphere" to "It doesn't really matter if they are"!

The fact is sea levels can be measured, and sea level data has been recorded since at least the turn of the 20th Century.

Furthermore, sea level records for Australia and New Zealand show an overall rising of sea levels throughout that period, with the rate accelerating since 1993.

That answers the question raised by other posters as to why there wasn't a massive walk-out by JWs after the 1975 debacle!

During that interview, Dr Mörner does not even mention the Southern Hemisphere. He does mention, to quote, “The Equatorial Region”, but that is all.

Where did you get that from?

In fact, sea level rise in this part of the world has been as per the global average (including accelerated rates since 1993).

To be honest, I know of only two families who sold up before 1975. Both invested in what we know as a “caravan”, but others may know as a “house trailer”. Both then went on some semi-nomadic journey to where the “need” was supposedly greater - but the location was in fact viewed as a rather comfortable place to live.

However - the novelty soon wore off once the Southern Winter set in! Also, one family received a further hurry-along once the local council found them to be living in insanitary conditions.

Far more notable is the number it those who were put off buying a house “because the end was so near.”

In their cases, the failed expectations of 1975 coincided with a quantum-leap in the price of houses. Many who could have easily afforded to purchase their own home before 1975 found themselves locked out of the market afterwards.

Reddit would appeal more to those who grew up with social media.

Regarding chloroquine / hydroxychloroquine, it is very unlikely that those drugs are still in widespread usage in Africa. While for many years the drug of choice for fighting malaria, it long ago lost its effectiveness. Even by the early 1990s, the malaria parasite had developed an immunity to chloroquine, and I well remember the headlong rush there then was to develop alternatives (which luckily was successful).

There is currently quite a cocktail of anti-malarial medicines available in malaria-affected countries. However, neither chloroquine nor its more soluble version, hydroxychloroquine, feature amongst these!
