My heart goes out to you. You appear to be doing everything right by being calm and loving. she’s still young and she will start to miss you. Stay focused, keep the lines of communication open and try your best to stay calm when you talk to her. She’s clearly getting involved with JWs because of her boyfriend not because she wants to change religion. You are so far away and I’m hopeful she’ll miss you all so much she’ll come home. Don’t send her those documents will you? If she needs them, she’ll have to come home first.

Guardian Newspaper
by Phoebe injust to say, the guardian investigative reporter who is looking into child abuse among jws rang me today as i had completed the form linked to their recent article.. we had a nice chat, she asked me for some details about my particular experience and asked me to spread the word as they are looking for more abuse victims.
her new article will probably come out in 10 days, so look out for it.. if you are in the uk and you are a victim or know of one, this is an opportunity to speak out and you can remain anonymous, as i have done.

Just to add to nugget, the reporter asked me about the two witness rule, the judicial committee etc. I know she is in contact with Lloyd as well. I got the feeling, as nugget did, she wasn't looking for sensational stories but back ground information as well as our own personal experiences.

I'm getting disfellowshipped

Letty,
I know it seems like a dark place at the moment and you are scared.
But this might just end up being the best thing that has ever happened to you. You have your whole life ahead of you. So much to look forward to. You WILL be okay. Please take it from someone who has had their life ruined by the WT. Get out while you can. Go and enjoy your life.
As one exJW said said: 'they can disfellowship me from the WT but they can't disfellowship me from God'
If you believe in God, he will still be there.

Padron Case Settled. What happens to the fine?
by Slidin Fast init seems that irwin zalkin has obtained undisclosed settlement in the case.
the $4000 a day fine then seems to be dead.
the downside?

One of my kids is a lawyer. I know all about lawyers.
If it was me, and trust me I am poor and the money would mean so much to me, I would never settle. I want this organisation exposed as much as possible.
But I take your point it is all about the money.

While no one can blame someone for settling when you consider the trauma that person has already experienced and the ongoing trauma of a prolonged court case, which must be just awful for them. They probably just want to put it behind them and try and rebuild their life and if they are not very well off who can blame them for taking money that would make them comfortable in the future. The money won't heal their pain but it's the least WT can do.
However, I just wish someone would be able to see it through to the end. Settling out of court suits the WT. The person goes away quietly and no one is going to know anything about it.
I can't begin to imagine how hard it is for the victim but if I was in that position I would want my day in court. I am a victim of child abuse by the way, so I am not without understanding. Only mine happened almost 60 years ago.
I want WT to be held accountable for victims such as Osbaldo Padron and I want the whole world to know about it.

Am I losing my mind or am I being stalked?
by Michigan22 inhi everyone, this is my first post.
i studied the bible weekly with a wonderful jw.
i suddenly stopped because things just seemed to be getting stranger.

Well done for stopping yourself from going any further. This cult pretty much ruined my life so please, please do not be tempted to get involved with them again. If you were a star student they won’t given up on you easily and yes, I wouldn’t put it past them to keep an eye on you.
Do not engage with them.

ExJW as opposed to present JW
by Phoebe insorry, i had no idea what to title this!.
i was speaking to a sister this week via email and i said i was appalled by anthony morris's recent talk in trinidad and tobago when he said if you haven't been in the ministry for two weeks god looks down on your hands and what does he see?
he sees blood and you will lose your life.
