I posted a comment on another thread about this very quote. " Therefore, it can er. . ." They used a qualifying term. "Can", which should not be confused with "Does." If you were to ask anyone of those obese buffoons if they DO err, they would deny, deflect, and likely DF you. The way they word things should always be looked at as if you were studying a professional illusionist. Don't watch what they are doing with their right hand, it's the left hand that you need to watch to see how the trick is done. Just my meager two cents worth.

it’s all in person and only fully vaxed can go
by Indoubtbigtime in2023 will see a big push to get rank and file back to in person meetings and ministry.
they have opened a can of worms with zoom but what they really want is only in extreme illnesses cases can someone use zoom .
the only problem is they want everyone fully vaccinated which means if you didn’t go for your latest booster in the last several months then you are no longer fully vaccinated and just the same as someone who never accepted any shots right from the start.

Does This Case Show The Value of the 2 Witness Rule ?
by BluesBrother ini read this in the public area of jwtalk, about a canadian case concerning reena virk, over 20 years ago..
“manjit, her father, got arrested by the police due to reena's accusation of sexual abuse.
he lost his job, many of his friends and almost his family.

Is it a "secular" story, or a WT "experience"?
If the latter it is likely massaged beyond recollection to fit a WT narrative, and nearly if not a total fabrication.
Young children are not very likely to make up stories about CSA, and not many abusers are going to abuse in the open.

Have you ever been on a congregation picnic?
by LostintheFog1999 inwere you ever on a congregation picnic?
i was on several occasions.. the arrangements were often announced from the platform after the closing song and prayer by the last elder up on the platform.. sometimes it was included in the service meeting announcements as "on saturday we're meeting at 10.00am at the kingdom hall for field service, and after field service for anyone who wishes, especially for the younger ones, we will be having a congregation picnic meeting at the beach carpark on seaview road.".
well, according to the new elders manual you won't be hearing those words again.

They can have fun in the new system!
Yeah, if searching for dead bodies and burying the bones of the killed for 300 years is fun, I guess so. Then after that you will have fun working your ass off to turn the entire earth into a paradise to be enjoyed by the GB 3.0, stifling any normal feelings in fear that you might happen to have an inappropriate thought and ToMo III will get the fun of turning you into a human hotdog.

getting round the territory slowly compared to before?
by Indoubtbigtime infrom what i know most territory maps in most congregations are being done much much slower than before.
my congregation is very very slow getting round the territory compared to before.
then pioneers will have hour requirement coming back in march but they are just not used to getting 3hrs a day 7 days a week.. many congregations used to get round all their territory every so often, now all congregations around north london where i am (yes i’m an ms involved with territory servants) are hardly getting around their territory at all.. of course letter writing was slow going but now back to first call hardly anyone is going out in person and those few that do don’t do that much.. even the elders who are supposed to take the lead don’t seem to come out much at all and when they do i know of more than one example of them only doing ten mins maybe a few houses then going for the obligatory coffee break.

My dad had a good saying about the way people were driving a vehicle that may fit the way territories are being covered now. "If they were going any SLOWER they would be backing up!"

Seems to be a census on vaccine status
by Indoubtbigtime inthe upcoming km school for all elders and servants is going to be in person only with no provision for video conferencing.. only fully vaccinated may attend.
meaning if you missed your last booster you are no longer fully vaccinated.. every coordinator of body of elders has to ask every single ms and elder if they have kept up with all their boosters and are fully vaccinated or they can’t attend.. this seems to be a census the gb want to know how many are keeping up with booster shots.

Thank God I am FedUp and no longer playing their little games. If I were though, and if they asked my reply would be along the line of, "HIPPA laws apply to you too. It is none of your business what medical treatments I have had." Then I would turn on my heel and leave them standing there with their mouth gaped open at my nerve telling them off.

Thank you Atlantis.
First thing I notice is that the letter lays the blame on the lowly publisher for not obtaining a better outcome ddue to not contacting HLC far enough in advance, IN AN EMERGENCY. Well excuse us! I guess we need to plan medical emergencies in advance now!
Perhaps it is just me, I noticed that the Announcements For Elders in Paragraph 2 subparagraph 2 states "When a publisher requests HLC assistance, FIRST contact the HLC to provide the following information: Spiritual standing of publisher and his family. . ." (Bold and italics mine) It sounds like any help will be exactly like the JW "love" they brag about. . .CONDITIONAL!
I base that opinion on paragraph 3 which indicates it is only after step 2 that the oh so important elder would provide the HLC information to the lowly publisher.
The elders giveth, and the elders taketh away I guess.

Should Jehovah's Witnesses Trust the Governing Body?
by Vanderhoven7 inif there is evidence that jesus invisibly chose specific men at headquarters in brooklyn new york in 1919 to be his faithful slave and that mandate and ability passed on to future directors...then the answer might just be a resounding maybe.. what is the evidence for this invisible appointment and what is the evidence that this is just watchtower mythology?.
i hope jws like scholar and fisherman will explain why the trust the gb.. i must be honest, i see no evidence at all to put trust in either the 1919 selection or the current men taking the lead in warwick.

“The Governing Body is neither inspired nor infallible.
They had to say that or they would have stepped in a huge, stinking, steaming pile of. . .well you know.
Therefore, it can err in doctrinal matters or in organizational direction...
Notice, there is zero admission of error. They key word in this statement is CAN, not does. Can only denotes the possibility, not the certainty.
Of course, Jesus did not tell us that his faithful slave would produce perfect spiritual food."
He shouldn't have had to say so. If Jesus is perfect, and if Jesus provides the food initially, then logically the food is perfect and the governing body as merely a middleman would provide what Jesus did. However if they err or if the food isn't perfect then either of only two options present themselves. Either Jesus and the food he initially provides are imperfect, or the middleman is not providing the food they are tasked with providing.
In any case the governing body is engaging in a blatant case of CYA and is not generating any trust in anyone able to read between the lines.

It must be admitted that even the most conscientious of chaperons may find it next to impossible in a darkened ballroom or gymnasium to control a crowd of youths who are bent on having a ‘good time.’
And THAT is the intent on WT. If it looks like it may be a "good time", sounds like it may be a "good time", or is found out to be a "good time" it is verboten in WT-land! Joy, smiles, fun, are to be avoided at all costs, especially for the young and more easily manipulated, in favor off keeping a serious look on your face, and never doing anything that is not WT related. Their biggest goal is CONtrol!
