  Reddit post about elder asking congregation for money to fix his car!

  yes, there’s a post on reddit.

  it says that after a zoom meeting a request was made to baptized publishers to give $20 apiece to fix this elder’s car.. while this sounds highly irregular to me and not necessarily approved by the religion, i am not at all surprised at the nerve.

  this, unfortunately, seems to be the direction that things are going there!

  Supreme Court Decision on Free Speech this week

  this week's first amendment case has a slant that may sound familiar to jws.

  most are aware that the wt won a number of supreme court decisions in the '40s related to free speech (the first amendment of the us constitution).

  in particular, the flag salute case in '39, which they lost, tried to argue that not saluting the flag was a religious issue.

  It is definitely the correct decision that nobody should be forced to use their labour to do something that conflicts with their views.

  Most of the cases were where certain people targeted a business on purpose, knowing in advance that their certain predilection was not shared by the business owner and so would give them the opportunity to agitate, sue, perform for the media, and generally try to ruin the business of someone whose beliefs did not cater to their lifestyle.

  "outside of time" argument

  this is going to be very brief but a user recently tried to argue an argument that has already been refuted many times - the logic is somewhat sound but falls apart when the definition to the word used it looked and its usages in the bible.the word in question is "aionas" found in the scripture in question hebrews 1:2 .

  (https://biblehub.com/hebrews/1-2.htm#lexicon)for starters look at the biblehub translations - do any of them state "outside of time" or that time was "created" in this moment - no because this seems to be heavily inspired by greek philosophy rather than the bible itself.note: i am not saying this word does not mean eternity or anything of the sort, i am saying this scripture some of the claims i dispute and can easily disprove, hence the argument is laughable.. bill mounce defines the word as:pr.

  The Bible story of Samson truly is a Hollywood production. His hair makes him strong beyond human capabilities.

  putting this under "friends" because i couldn't figure out where to put it.

  it is very often on here and in ex jw videos, ect that people like to undermine some of those who once we would have called friends.

  there seems to be a view that window washers, plumbers, cleaners, construction workers are somehow less intelligent than those who may be college educated.

  I don't think anyone is forcing you to read threads here, or forcing you to stay. You are free to leave without repercussions if you don't like it here. Then you won't have to suffer people "blathering" about anything.

  snide remarks of, "You think too much" made JW's feel guilty for using their own brains.

  They tried that B.S. comment on me more than once. I mentioned it to my father and his suggested reply was to say to them, "No, I don't think TOO much. YOU don't think enough!"

  i've filed this under news and world events, although i could've posted it under entertainment, lol.

  apparently, joe biden will be seeking re-election for another term in the white house.. this, despite a recent poll showing that 70% of people don't want him to run again.. biden just has to be the worst president i've seen.

  his gaffes, over-relience on a prompter, and, more than any other president, his refusal to answer journalists' questions, all go to make him top of the list in terms of bad presidents.. it will certainly provide entertainment, if nothing else..

  so the end was going to come by 2000 as documented in the magazines back in the late 80's early 90's.. so how did they get the time off so badly ( over two decades and still nothing) since the gb is jehovah's earthly mouthpiece right ?
