The only thing I can fault about your comment above is that I couldn't hit the like button until my thumb wore out.

why was nothing said to the 3000 about "preaching?

yes, i too have wondered how an assembly that is held in a fully paid for assembly hall, with no food service, could possibly have $10,000 in expenses.
i suppose the bethel speakers have transportation expenses - maybe $1000 or so.
as for rent on the assembly hall, well you have already paid for it once, why pay again?
From the storm warning it looks much like the typical mid-winter snow storm in the upper U.S. or typical severe thunderstorm in summer. Of course now anything weather related has become a weather "event".

I can't believe they didn't toss in a comment about how "our faith" is also made evident by making monetary donations at every opportunity. I'm shocked. . .shocked I say that they didn't pop that into the article somehow.
Of course I have not read it, nor will I read it.
selena accused tony morris of being involved in child abuse and the pimo bethelite who just got kicked out.
let’s see how this rolls out.
Vidiot - There’ve been more and more indications lately that the Org is in serious financial trouble.
Agreed, however IMO their financial trouble is due in very large part to their now becoming obvious to any who see, GREED. There is not a meeting that goes by from what I hear locally that there is not at least one mention of giving money.
I do not say this being argumentative. Just stating my opinion.

I listened to the sanderson audio. A few take-aways from his indoctrination speech to the auditors.
1) sanderson's comment early in the audio about branch financial reports, "We have no way of knowing the truthfulness of these reports." He just in so many words accused those preparing the branch reports of lying! Shouldn't he trust that fellow JW's would tell the G.O.D. the truth?
2) He says. "If something doesn't look right don't look the other way." Well why the Hell not? BITD when I did a quarterly audit on the congregation accounts I noticed no less than two glaring discrepancies in one month. Brought it to the attention of both the MS who was account servant and the COBE when I went over my findings. Got pretty well shut down. Then a few months later noticed the account servant had forgot his file case in the library, so went through and found that months audit report. The one I had filled out and signed was gone! A different one was in it's place with a glowing report about everything is just fine!
From Gomer Ekrann who closed the audio came this statement, "In the last year or two there has been a lot more emphasis on "OUR" money. This will give the governing body confidence that "OUR" money is not bleeding off somewhere." He just subtly accused the brothers of stealing. Remember sanderson talking about the Philippines where boxes and cans were disappearing?
As stated earlier this is not about anything other than pure, unadulterated greed by the WT. If they were truly concerned about an open and transparent financial accounting they would print it for everyone to see instead of hiding it.
so my mother passed on 20 aug 23 from the big c. i was there when she went.
that was indeed very traumatic.
i won't go to describe it.. dad went 17 years ago so there's just me now.
Add my condolences also.
if you don't measure up to the watchtower society ''high standards''... you might lose some ''special privileges'' .
miss meetings...lose ''privileges''.
don't meet the monthly 10 hour ''field service'' ...lose ''privileges''.
Eventually ALL of them. Thankfully I no longer have the "privilege" of cleaning toilets or mopping piss off the floor where "short" guys couldn't hit the urinal. Nor do I have the "privilege" of shoveling snow off the sidewalk in winter. And I willingly gave up the privilege of holding down a chair for two hour snooze fests.
jw view gambling as a sin and sadly people get addicted to gambling causing them financial and health problems.
but is playing a couple of bucks a week on some lottery tickets actually gambling?
what do you have to lose?
Nope, don't play lottery or any other small betting games. Has nothing to do with having been a hard-core JW in the past. I was told once by a guy I worked with, "You can't win if you don't play." My reply was, "YOU play, and YOU haven't won yet. I don't play and I haven't LOST. So I guess I am a winner!"
i googles about self-deception and found many articles about it.
it is a thing reseachers in psychology have studied.. here is a quote from an article that describes it.
and it is interesting because of so many ideas about how to understand the bible.
You are a liar and a sicko.
Am I the only one either here, or on other sites, that notices when someone begins to feel they have lost a debate they always resort to name calling?
still, you hold onto false teachings of the wtbts which are only there for the enrichment of its chiefs.. as pointed out, the rest of the book of revelation is figurative, yet you hold that the number 144,000 is literal.
the wtbts currently says that this number is limited to those running the wtbts and that anyone claiming to be part of it outside that self-selecting group could be mentally ill.. by what reasoning (not from wtbts origin) do you believe only 144,000 people will be ‘saved’, and how do you know who is part of this self-selected group, given virtually no other religious denomination does even remotely believe in the literalism of revelation.
do they have to be jws?
144,000-literal or figurative?
It DOESN'T matter! You and I ain't part of it!
A "great crowd" which no man was able to number? Now that's funny. Especially given that the WT has in fact put a number on them today. They are the baptized JW's who in their own literature are claimed to be the ONLY ones worthy of any salvation. Now "nu-lite" says that even death (the penalty for sin) does not pay that debt any longer. To buy into the ever changing WT interpretations of anything is a pretty lame way to live.
