  Talk to my Dad about beards.

  so i spoke to my elder dad the other day, and he asked if i still am sporting a beard.

  i said yes, then i said, "i thought the society said its ok to have a neat trimmed beard now?

  " he said "no, no, no..if you read the article , it says in countries where it is accepted" so my response was "ummm, its pretty accepted here in america"..which he says "it reflects your spirituality" "if another wittness saw you, they would know you are weak"...i was like, "ok, i don't get it, and i follow christ/god, not men..." then he said in his hall" if a brother came in with a beard , he would not have privelages" then i just gave up, and tried to change the subject..ugggggggggg if these people would just listen to themselves , they would see the sillyness of there teachings...

  Day One Lowlights

  too much crap to keep track of, but a few low lights of day one of the regional convention stuck out.

  in no particular time sequence here is some of what i managed to hold down.. tight pants yapped on in the opening part about a three part theme to conventions.

  part 1 was in 2016, part 2 is this year, and part 3 is in the works for 2018. i guess the big a isn't coming for a couple more years, at least.. then it was really stressed that all good dubs must always be prepared to "witness" by carrying jay double you, dot org calling cards, and of course wear your id card for the convention at all times, and all places.. next was the strong statement that the purpose of the carts/trolleys is not to place literature, it is to direct people of the public to "our" web site!

  Too much crap to keep track of, but a few low lights of day one of the regional CONvention stuck out. In no particular time sequence here is some of what I managed to hold down.
  

  Tight Pants yapped on in the opening part about a three part theme to conventions. Part 1 was in 2016, part 2 is this year, and part 3 is in the works for 2018. I guess the Big A isn't coming for a couple more years, at least.

  Then it was really stressed that all good Dubs must always be prepared to "witness" by carrying Jay Double You, Dot Org calling cards, and of course wear your ID card for the convention at all times, and all places.

  Next was the strong statement that the purpose of the carts/trolleys is NOT to place literature, it is to direct people of the public to "our" web site! This was said more than once, for emphasis. And also stated that it is more fun to let people come to you than going to them. Hmm...what was that that Jesus said? Something about "GO"? I guess their word is more important that Christs!

  Then there was a scripture read from Exodus 5: 9 where Pharaoh wanted the Jews kept busy so they would not pay attention to lies. I wonder if THAT is why the governing body insists on keeping the good JDubs so busy with "busy" work. They are afraid if the JDubs are not insanely busy they might wake up and discern the lies they are being fed?

  Then there was the goofy illustration of a swimmer trying to get to shore. The question was would they give up only a few yards from shore? They were just about there. They would be on shore..."soon"... I thought WTF? No they wouldn't give up, but what if every time they thought they were just about safely to shore the shoreline was moved back a few hundred more yards?

  Then there was another hair-brained illustration about running a race in the Death Valley area of the United States. 14,000 feet elevation change, 116 degree heat. What if you knew you were no good at running that elevation or that heat? Well of course you would run harder so that it would get easier! Good grief, if I were no good running in that heat or elevation changes I would not do it. That would be insane health risks or even death from heat stroke. I guess nothing is ever good enough for those fat slobs tossing out orders to the R&F.

  That was about all I could stomach. I did get the chance though to read a direct quote from the KM to a friend about those who were praised for selling out their homes etc. in anticipation of 1975, right after I asked if the person I was talking to had heard the video say that it was WRONG of "some" to have sold their homes before 1975. They got a deer in the headlights look when they realized their own answer and the WT own words contradicted what they had just heard. It was wonderful!

  Perhaps a few more comments or observations over the next two days, IF I can keep my breakfast and lunch down listening to this stuff.

  Crossing the Elders

  few things draw my interest as much as people on this board who talk about the elders, the insidious little toadies who lurk around kingdom halls, the proverbial big fish in little ponds.

  it amazes me the terror and the veneration they inspire, as well as the occasional ridicule.

  it makes me wonder how they're selected and whether most of them come into the position with a sense of power, entitlement, authority and control, or whether many of them are pretty nice people and that i'm just hearing about the bad apples?

  vacation pioneered as a youngster and became a regular pioneer out of school.

  i became a ms then an elder.....the organization pushes you to be somebody within the confines of their realm.

  Did everything a good little Dubbie was supposed to do. All the free labor...vacation pioneer/temporary pioneer/auxiliary pioneer, all the things that should have been MS/Elder material, but never quite was ever good enough for anything else, just the work with none of the perks. always some half-fast excuse why they thought I didn't make the grade.
  

  So I asked myself, "Ladder? What ladder? I don't need no stinking ladder!"

  Revised bible in Dutch

  we had a special talk (streaming) today from g. jackson, announcing the new revised bible in dutch.

  there are many many changes, even some of the the dutch 'jw-language' will change because bible verses changed.

  also brother jackson admitted (be it in a joking way ) that whole talks in the past (until now) had been based on wrong translated bible verses.

  this latest attack in manchester u.k. targeting a venue attended by mainly children and teenagers who go to a concert by their favorite singer and then to be attacked by a terroist has to be the last straw... surely ?

  22 dead at last count mainly young girls enjoying a concert of their favourite singer ?

  and at least 50 others suffering injuries ?.

  Agreed. When one of them is arrested for a crime be sure they NEVER get back. The most effective way to fight an out of control range fire is to start a back-fire so there is no fuel for the range fire to use to exist. Does the term "fight fire with fire" ring a bell? Death of the enemy is what this religion of "peace" promotes, and it is way past time for them to be on the receiving end of the exact same treatment by the rest of the sane world. The only way you can clean a building of cockroaches is to exterminate them, not just kill three or four.

  JW and Aliens

  i have several times asked people in my congregation about aliens, and what the org would do if they appeared, and everyone stated that aliens dont exist.

  i did this since this is of great interest to me, and the universe generally amazes me.. everything is apparently centered around earth, and gods ability to be better at ruling than satan.

  and i will point out that i havent even been ruled by god yet, as the bible says, so i still dont get how satans inablity to rule proves gods ability to rule... what do you guys think would happen if real extraterrestial life was confirmed - the intelligent sort of life.

  When someone says there cannot be extraterrestrial life on other planets, solar systems, galaxies etc. I always ask, "Why not?" One has to be pretty arrogant to think that God (If one believes the Bible) created the entire universe, and then only populated ONE solitary planet out of those billions that were made.
