Do JDubs apply the Golden Rule?
Not in my personal experience, as it is written. However, I have seen where Dubs that have much "gold" do seem to rise to levels of "ruler-ship".
there is no doubt (in my mind at least from my own personal experience) that in day to day matters most witnesses are genuinely loving and kind (or "nice") people (though their indoctrination and fundamentalist mentality often inhibits their natural kindness and tolerance and often gets in the way of fulling showing it).
however i would like to put the case that when it comes to their ministry and theological/scientific discussion of any type, they fail to apply even the most basic of bible principles that they claim to espouse - the golden rule!
here is what occurred to me.... some things jw's would like men to do to them:.
Do JDubs apply the Golden Rule?
Not in my personal experience, as it is written. However, I have seen where Dubs that have much "gold" do seem to rise to levels of "ruler-ship".
i was told this when i was an aspiring jw, aka unbaptized publisher.
the above explanation didn't make sense to me then and it never did make sense throughout my jw career.
over time, it appeared to me the real purpose of field service time reporting was to gauge one's spirituality and for the ceo *cough* co to make sure the elders were on top of things during his visit..
Somewhat off topic of reporting time, but I heard the same argument at the recent assembly day about speaker inroductions.
The circuit overseer went on about how some feel that it should not be included in speaker introductions what their position in the congregation is and how long they have been pioneers. He continued that that information is included as "encouragement to others that they can to do more".
Funny that the one speaker is introduced as Bro. So-And-So, who serves as the COBE from -----,---- congregation, and in the full time service for two years. Those two years were in the early sixties, and he has never in the fifteen years I have known him went door to door. Only RV's, and counts them all as door step Bible studies.
it seems that many witness parents are simply taking the lazy option when it comes to raising their children.. by this i mean, they will happily outsource the education of their kids to the ready-made information on jwdotorg.. need to keep the toddler busy?
just stick him in front of a colourful caleb and sophia cartoon.
or lets play coloring-in on ready made pictures of bible characters getting killed.. need to manipulate the mind of your growing child?
...how many current JWs know what a concordance...[is]
I know...I know...I know!!! It's that thing you play polka music on!
elder and his wife build a flash house.. they go on the stage at an assembly and give an experiences of how they sold the flash house to simplify their life so they can go pioneering.. the real story.. elder and wife can't afford the flash house and have to sell it he never goes pioneering she does until they are declared bankrupt.. why were they bankrupt?.
the money leaft over from the flash house they invested in a yet to be build apartment and the developer goes bankrupt takeing their money.. just one of many.. karter..
A recent JDub TV show experience was given by someone whom I have known personally for many decades.
The experience was nothing like what actually happened. I cannot give too many details at present, but suffice it to say that 90% of what was presented as fact was in fact untrue!
Just yesterday enduring the circuit assembly an older fellow gave his "experience" about how they gave up his job, sold out, and went to pioneering full time. While living in a camping trailer behind their KH he needed $XX.XX to pay his ----- bill for the month. He only had the $ .XX and needed the $XX.00. He prayed and lo and behold some travelers just happened to stop by the KH for a tour of the property and when they left shook hands and after they were gone he finally looked in his hand and there was the exact $XX.00 to make up the difference!
I had to swallow several times to keep from vomiting. God gave him money? Yet some poor schmuck that works hard for his family but doesn't buy into the pioneer sales pitch maybe has a child die from illness and his prayers for the child to recover go unanswered!
Sounds as fair as holy spirit and mens appointments!
just wondering how many are assisted to wake up after experiencing harsh treatment from "the loving shepherds of the congregation"?.
perhaps some were starting to wake up, and such behaviour or treatment gave them the push to leave?.
as jesus supposedly said "come to me all who are toiling and loaded down, and i will refresh you.
as we have seen, the society has so smoothly rolled out the rebranding of the organization in just a few short years!.
(in fact, i remember a thread post here a few years back, where it was mentioned that all halls are going to get the jw.org signs on them.
it was initially laughed off and doubted) https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/279409/jw-org-signs-put-on-all-kingdom-halls-new-directive.
As for abbreviations JWs have always loved them
Whenever some self-important asshat refers oh so smugly to the C.O...I interrupt them and with my best puzzled tone of voice ask, "How long have JW's had a Commanding Officer?"
your thoughts on today's watchtower?.
can you explain?.
how can material possessions be used to strengthen our friendship with god?
so ... situation:.
a baptized married couple, with no privileges that we know of, have opened their home to 2 unmarried regular pioneers because of the pioneers' financial issues (limited income).. - husband works from home.
- wife doesn't work and stays home or in service.
I hope the JDubs start banning single males and females from staying in the same hotels at assemblies and conventions too then.
Can't have those sex-crazed Dubbies fornicating after hours, probably in the hotel lounge and the hallways too y'know.
“if you were asked, ‘what are the key teachings of your faith?’ what would you say?....
you would likely mention your belief in jesus christ...” (page 8, par.
(as a christian, you'd likely mention your belief in jesus christ?
“IF YOU were asked, ‘What are the key teachings of your faith?’ what would you say?.... You would likely mention your belief in Jesus Christ...”
I may be alone in this observation, but I have noticed it seems that whenever WT asks a question then begins their answer with the words, "You would likely....", it ALWAYS means they are going to try to convince you that YOUR answer is WRONG!
I may have to try to peruse this WT to see if that observation still holds true.
thursday, august 31. jehovah knows those who belong to him.—2 tim.
2:19.. in recent years, we have seen an increase in the number of those partaking at the memorial of christ’s death.
that trend contrasts with the decrease in the number of partakers that we saw for many decades.
*** w16 January p. 19 pars. 9-10
Simply put, by means of his holy spirit, God makes it clear to that person that he is invited to become a future heir in the Kingdom arrangement.—1 Thess. 2:12.
10 Those who have received this special invitation from God do not need another witness from any other source. They do not need someone else to verify what has happened to them. Jehovah leaves no doubt whatsoever in their minds and hearts.
The number of partakers includes those who mistakenly think that they are anointed. Others may have mental or emotional problems that lead them to believe that they will rule with Christ in heaven.
From the SAME WT. So which is it WT governing body? Either they received this "invitation" from God himself through HS and they do not need your witness or verification and YOU are wrong, or they are wrong and are mentally screwed up and God's HS really doesn't matter! It amazes me that there are still nitwits who slurp this swill up and call it "food at the proper time"!
