2022 Convention Sat. Afternoon part 1

i found it ironic that the symposium "put away peace wrecker inappropriate boasting".

was presented by a helper to the publishing committee.

and all of the other talks were given by, if not gb members, but by helpers to the various committees.

Hayley was using social media to sell home made jewellery and maybe makeup products.

And of course any JW woman should be a frumpy old hag that buys their "modest" dresses from the tent and awning store. Heaven forbid they were moderately attractive, in good shape, wore decent makeup and jewelry. The woman selling handmade items was also following the JW edict to pious sneer full-time which would suggest she did not have a full-time job with good wages. And on top of that she was taking care of a disabled elderly relative. The character Hayley was totally justified IMO for her understandable reaction to that big nosed busybody. I sure didn't see those self-righteous a-holes that were gossiping about her offering any help! I've known too many of that type JW over the years, and as far as I am concerned with them they can GFT!

Resuming door to door September 1st

gb worried about not enough coming to in person meetings.

what are they going to be like when they realise not only jdubs don’t want to go to in person meetings but they really don’t want to go back on the min.

zoom has so much more appeal for rather than meetings or door to door.

I can see some of the self-righteous elders pulling this stunt.

I heard that the letter was read Sunday and last night again. I also had an elder who still is trying to get me back on the hamster wheel call me this morning to tell me the news, and inform me that Gee-HO'-Vuh is the one who had the governing body tell JW's this news, and that loyalty to God meant that faithful JW's must listen to the g.b.

Sanderson’s “Young People” convention talk

so did anyone else have the misfortune of listening to sanderson’s talk corresponding to the saturday morning convention program?.

full title is “young people - choose a path that leads to peace!”.

the basic idea is, hey you teenagers, you ought to be pioneers, wt construction workers, and/or bethelites.. i tried to put myself back in time an embarrassing number of decades…if i were in this talk’s target audience, how would i respond?.

Also, how would you handle it if you are approached by other nervy JWs with an envelope looking for a handout because they know about this.

I also am pretty blunt. I would use the line Sally Field used in the movie Smokey and The Bandit, "Do the letters F. O. mean anything to you?"

we got the inevitable letter today.. meet, associate and "encourage" in person unless sick or infirm.

also dress up for zoom if you must use it.

locally over half are on zoom, 3/4 no picture.

I had the misfortune of hearing this too. I was going to start a thread about it titled, "The Beatings Continue". It will be a cold day in the mythical Hell before I ever set foot in a kingdumb hall again! And they can suck rocks if they think I would dress up to ever willingly sit in front of a computer screen for their drivel.

Heavy equipment repair at 85 years of age?? Are you kidding me??

Sadly, no. What makes the situation worse is that now his widowed wife has no family to help, no measurable social security, no life insurance, and is blind and diabetic. I know well the congregation they were associated with and there will be zero assistance for her. They fit perfectly the description of ancient Pharisees. Bind up heavy loads but won't lift a finger to help. And even though I would normally do nothing to help a JW who put themselves in that position, I think of the way my parents were treated and feel a personal obligation to help the poor woman as I can within reason.

Unmarried couple staying at my house

i need your help with this topic.

i’m trying to find an elder’s letter or wt article that frown upon a good standing jw allowing an unmarried couple to stay over their house for the night.. my wife claims this is a conscience matter and i say that’s bs, this leadership does not allow it.

would like to find this info..

The watchtower organization has too much time on their hands and obviously think that couples have a lot more sex than they actually do.

I have made the comment many times even though I get the squint eye from them when I do that when JW's yap about the "world" being sex crazed they are in reality projecting. They are always thinking or talking about who is doing it, where they are doing it, when they are doing it, who they are doing it with, and how men are women are basically sexual predators just waiting to seduce someone.
