How many different "rules" do Jehovah's Witnesses have to obey? Can you count them?
by Balaamsass2 inall the big changes for jws since this last fall brought me back to this site, and got me and the wife talking.
just how many things were we not allowed to do growing up as jehovah's witnesses?
we were so used to all the rules, customs, and traditions, that we became used to them.. one site i found claims there are 141 unique rules!!

SCHEMING TO END YOUR MARRIAGE NOW AS BAD AS APOSTASY
by raymond frantz inhttps://youtu.be/-yvykw37rzo?si=vwokohrdq2b53fmh.
by now, it should be painfully obvious that we live in a post tonny morris era where the floods of organizational changes have become possible and a new version of the religion, some have called it warchtower 2.0 is emerging with a soft approach to disfellowshipping practices across the board for all those sinners.
nevertheless 3 groups of people will still be targeted for harsh excommunication, we know the first two well :csa perpetrators and apostates.

or he pressured his innocent mate to reject him so that she eventually agreed to a divorce, he has dealt treacherously with her. (Mal. 2:14-16) He would not qualify for special privileges for many years
Unless like one guy where I live, you give BIG $$$$$ contributions to the congregation. He made elder in just a short time even though he was bar-hopping and doing everything except intercourse with multiple non JW women. First wife was made the scapegoat when that marriage ended, and He did the same thing with his second JW wife. He always managed to come out the "innocent" one as far as elders were concerned.

June 2024 WT: Don't talk about Anthony Morris
by neat blue dog inthe latest study edition mentions hypothetical scenarios of jws who are no longer serving at bethel or no longer elders, etc.
and says we shouldn't speculate, as defaming them could border on slander.. we could unintentionally defame someone by spreading negative information.
..... would it be proper to speculate on the reasons why these adjustments were made and to share that opinion with others?.

Rules for thee, but not for me. That is exactly what elders do amongst themselves with regard to the R&F and elderettes do about anyone else in the congregations.

Norway
by St George of England inso the wt society is going to contest the recent norway ruling.. jehovah’s witnesses to appeal unconstitutional ruling in norway (jw.org).
their true colours are shown in the statement: "the decision to deregister jehovah’s witnesses denies us the financial aid and other benefits that the government provides to over 700 registered religious communities in the country.
additional consequences include losing the right to appoint and authorize ministers of jehovah’s witnesses as officiants for weddings.".

I hope they lose this appeal.
The JW's need to face the fact that they are NO different than any of the other religions they demonize for being money hungry!

It seemed absurd to pass those plates like a charade.
I broke down for the sake of seeing one or two friends who are PIMI. Pulled out a chair by itself next to the back wall by myself. When they passed the plate and glass one of the newbies who I do not know handed them to me with a hopeful look that I would hand it back to him, then a look of disgusted disappointment when I did not, instead handing it to another plate passer on the other side of my chair. Damn near laughed right out loud.

JW Expanded Volunteer Activities?
by doinmypart ini think the gb needs to expand publishers' volunteer activities beyond door knocking.. gb has shifted away from door-knocking to more varied forms of witnessing and no longer counting time for publishers.
my prediction is that the gb will start encouraging jws to participate in broader community volunteer efforts: clean-up drives, food banks, senior citizen support, and other non-proselytizing activities.
this move could help them gain goodwill with government agencies and the public.. expanding volunteer activities could significantly shift how jws are perceived by the wider community.

Not a chance. They have to maintain the isolation or they will lose control over the whole religion with the resulting loss of money. Never gonna happen.

Internal Watchtower Statistics Re: Disfellowshipping and Shunning
by NotFormer indoes the wt have a person/department/section tasked with compiling data and analysing it statistically.
or have they started doing something like that now that they are hiring external consultancies?.
i ask the question because i'm wondering if such studies and statistical analysis would show any link between the harshness of the disfellowshipping policy as it is applied and the dropout rate of people within the organisation who have just had enough.. in previous threads it has been pointed out that the old approach isn't effective any more.

I wrote it as fact, because I believe it to be fact, based on the educated guesses, i.e. speculation
Jesus picked a few men to be a "faithful and discreet slave" in 1919.
This system will meet it's end in 1925.
Armageddon will come in 1975.
The preaching work will be completed by the end of this twentieth century.
You will not graduate before the end of this system.
Just a few examples of what happens when speculation is written as fact. Not trying to be mean.

So, yes, they are not the confident debaters they once were, in my recent experience.
They are though master debaters. Just watch their infamous sign language video.

Would the one and only people of the sovereign of the universe be representing him like this? Shouldn't they be boldly defending their doctrine and strongly and boldly giving a clear shout of warning to an entire world they think is about to be violently destroyed?
That was one of the many things that started me on the road leading off the hamster wheel. I just could not accept that IF what I believed was the truth why would I want to refrain from defending it? If peoples lives were in fact hanging in the balance depending on what I told them why would I want to sound an indistinct message? Why would I want to claim to have the light of truth and then hide it? Their own Bible condemns them, again.
(1 Corinthians 14:8, 9) 8 For if the trumpet sounds an indistinct call, who will get ready for battle? 9 In the same way, unless you with the tongue use speech that is easily understood, how will anyone know what is being said? You will, in fact, be speaking into the air. . .
(Matthew 5:15, 16) 15 People light a lamp and set it, not under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it shines on all those in the house. 16 Likewise, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your fine works and give glory to your Father who is in the heavens.
