  The August 2024 Watchtower controversy and potential further changes

  as an educated guess, the august 2024 watchtower may be delayed because 2 complicated subjects need to be discussed in this issue which haven't yet been approved to be included in the revised shepherding textbook.

  perhaps the revised shepherding textbook must be finalised before this watchtower is released publicly.. the 2 subjects may be as follows:.

  how to shepherd and appoint brothers based on the removal of the hour requirements, getting to know the brothers instead (does this mean prioritising appointing men who have auxiliary pioneered during the co visit and campaigns or men who are regular pioneers?).

  Maybe they will reveal what happened to Tony and where he is.

  It's already happening, very slowly. I heard directly this past weekend from someone in Bethel that as speculated elsewhere on this site it was a health reason, it was his choice to step down, and he is not really residing at the home that is on record here. I am not going to provide any further details at the risk of outing myself.

  I heard nearly the same thought from a Bethel fellow I know who is still on somewhat good terms with me. He said that the saying amongst Bethel men is to, "Don't listen to what the governing body members SAY, listen to what they DON'T say."

  First video from the convention is all about FEAR

  this was leaked only few days ago and it's a small segment of the video from the 2024 convention that has already started.

  the video shows a jw logo down while worried jws are watching it as a news item on their tv screens, others are seen hiding from the police, others driving is the countryside to escape the authorities.

  Who Was The Biggest Jackass Circuit Overseer You Ever Met?

  there was on older white-haired circuit overseer in houston around 1989 or 1990. last name started with a w i think.... not sure though.

  even the most brain-dead robotic elders told me he was offensive.

  Upper Midwest (USA) Two I remember as being particularly loathsome were named Martin Harfman, and last name Smeltzer. Both instrumental in starting me on the path to freedom from the hamster wheel of JWism.

  Education video this midweeks meeting

  there is an item this week all about yang ones leaving school.. the two brothers go to a career advisor seminar.

  one brother thinks it’s good to work hard full time while you are young and tries to encourage his friend to as well.. his friend (who is the good jw trust the gb no matter what they say)) he wants a part time job.. the video shows him dreaming about investing his money on his phone and the chart goes up, he drives a nice car and seems to be doing well financially.. then he reads the scripture in proverbs and next you see that investment chart go down in the red and he is so pleased he just got a low paid part time job.. this infuriates me.

  how many of us are now struggling because we were told to get menial part time jobs and we were told the end would have been here by now.. i will never tell a young person to listen to the gb advice on this.

  I think it’s very good for a young person to work hard full time while they are young and have the energy to do it.

  Growing up my father advised me to get good employment and invest as much as I could throughout my working career. He had a saying that I have passed on to others, "Savings and wise investments are stored labor." I have seen way too many who followed the idiotic (IMO) advise of the users at the top of the JW hierarchy to only do the minimum amount of work to scrape by, and they are still doing that when they are crippled old people and finally drop dead in the harness.

  I followed my father's advice, and was able to retire in my mid forties and still live comfortably. My investments are providing me with the same income every month now that I was earning when I was employed full-time. I've also seen that the following scripture is true for most JW's who obeyed the "don't get any extra education, don't work full-time, don't store up treasure on earth (savings) are having the same end results.
  

  (Proverbs 6:6-11) 6 Go to the ant, you [uneducated] JW; see its ways and become wise. 7 Although it has no [governing body, governing body helper, or elders] 8 it prepares its food even in the summer; it has gathered its food supplies even in the harvest. 9 How long, you JW, will you keep refusing to get an education or a good job, or savings? When will you rise up from your recliner? 10 A little more study, a little more preaching, a little more washing of the windows in your desire to obey eight men in New York, 11 and your poverty will certainly come just like some rover, and your want like an armed man.

  Know it’s not true but stay anyway

  how many of the millions of jws know it’s not true but stay anyway?.

  my guess is most jws know it’s not true on a subconscious level to an extent but they don’t want to think about it too much and would never ever voice it out loud.. but this is probably true with all religions around the world?.

  I might agree that most JWs think that some of it is NOT TRUE, but still they will tell you that IT IS THE CLOSEST TO THE TRUTH that is out there anywhere.

  Agreed. I've come to the conclusion that "Da Troof" is an awful lot like a tall, refreshing glass of iced water on a scorching hot day . . .with just a very few drops of urine in it. There may be a lot that is "refreshing" about what JW's spout, but the fact is there are those few drops of urine in everything they say that pollutes the whole glass! I for one refuse to drink it!

  Do JWs Get Excited About WT Publications Any More?

  memory from long ago: my old mate from high school lived next door to a jw and was often "treated" to the latest jw literature.

  when the "you can live forever in paradise on earth"* book came out, this neighbour waxed lyrical about how good this book was and how powerful the message was.

  he acted really keen about it, like it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

  I managed to force myself to endure about 1 minute of the above link. They could just as well substituted the words "governing body" everywhere they stuck in the name Jesus. At least then the song would have reflected what they REALLY believe and teach!

  A Real Man

  i hate to say this but most women will go their entire lifetime and never experience the meaning of actual true love.. it's even slightly depressing to think that most people will never understand how powerful this picture actually is; a prime example of how men should be treating their partner with everyday that passes.. we unfortunately live in a generation with men who have no idea what it takes to be a real man.. let me give you a couple examples of a real man ....... a real man asks about your day and genuinely cares about the answer.. a real man respects your boundaries and never forces you to anything you're not ready to do.. he makes time for you, and takes that time to learn and understand who you are as a person.. a real man consistently shows you the definition of effort with every day that passes.. he will call you randomly throughout the day just to check on you and your mental health.. a real man is undeniably committed to you and looks for new ways to fall in love with you with every day that passes.. he makes protecting your heart a number one priority.. a real man never makes permanent decisions based on temporary emotions.. he never confuses you on where you stand in his life.. a real man apologizes when he is wrong and stays true to his character.. he doesn't mind hurting other people's feeling to protect yours.. a real man gives you affection without sexual expectation.. a real man refuses to entertain any women that isn't you.. he has genuine intentions with you from day one and shows you how it truly feels to be a priority rather an option.. a real man will help you heal from the trauma that nobody apologized for.. a real man values you and would never put themselves in a position to lose you.. take my advice and wait for the man that never let's you fall asleep at night questioning your own self worth.. .
