  the 2013 revision of the nwt has destroyed some of the best phrases in the original version and rendered them utterly bland.

  a case in point is isaiah 41:10 which was as evocative as it was peculiar in the original nwt.

  It’s also noted that one could learn TTATT by careful study of the NWTs cross-references.

  Like the 1984 cross reference that linked the "faithful and discreet slave" in Matthew with those spoken of in Daniel as "having insight who will be made to stumble" in the time of the end.

  Or cross references that linked generations as a definite length of time, not some overlapping period of people whose lives overlapped other people lives that could be stretched out to mean something totally different than what was written.

  Each time they trot out a "refined" understanding it seems to knock another leg out from under the chair supporting old understanding.

  JW math at work.

  Two "alleged" JW's get one person to come to a meeting, who IF they became a JW would show a whopping 50% increase! Isn't this proof that god is speeding up the work friends? Now IF that person decided that JW was not what they wanted to be and left that would only be a 33 1/3% decrease. So JW gets bragging rights for a 16.7% net increase. Doesn't this tremendous increase show that we are soooo cloooose to the final end friends? Oh by-the-way, don't forget to donate!

  new WT rule: no holding hands durning public prayer!

  so i just caught a glimpse of this new wt magazine(study edition) of course.. from dec 28th titled.

  "what do your prayers say about you".

  so now they are focosing on every aspect of our lifes even our actions during prayer.

  Marital sex under the auspices of the Org must be the most boring and pathetic experiences possible.

  I've heard some members say that it is pretty much reserved for Thursday nights only. And only after the ministry school and service meeting, using no hands, with all the lights turned off, and only in the missionary position.

  Change in WT Stance on Retirement? A qualified answer?

  i was reading the march 2025 wt today, and i notice this: "march 2025 p. 29 jehovah’s hand is not too short p.29-31 (retirement, but qualified statement) (notice , it is not wrong, but, in the end we must rely on their god.

  retirement is alluded to as "making the quest for material things the focus of our life.

  " are we confident that their god will provide (why have retirement then?

  For example, if our brothers or sisters do not have enough food or clothing, they need more than kind words.

  I agree. We should inform them that they obviously need to PRAY MORE, donate more $$$$, STUDY MORE, spend MORE TIME door knocking, and for good measure we could always tell them, "remember we loooovvve eewwwe." LOL

  all the things that I remember from the 1970s and 80s are all out the window now.

  I've said it here before, my mom was baptized in the early 1940's. She said very shortly before her death, "If jehovah's witnesses had been THEN what they are NOW, I NEVER would have become one!"

  i just read this.

  don’t know if anybody here has seen the video.. the intended result of this is to obviously scare ‘faders’ out of the shadows.

  now, they are being threatened with loss of association with their loved ones and friends.

  As to spouses, a spouse being df'd or da'd does not end the marriage arrangement. Still function as a couple, but not in spiritual matters.

  A friend who had been DF'd back in the 90's told me that when his wife was reinstated and he wasn't at the same time the elders called her in the back room and chastised her for holding his hand during prayers at the meeting. Sorry bast--ds.

  Back then, you could NEVER do enough.

  Still pretty much the unwritten rule from what I observed prior to, and what I've been told since getting off the hamster wheel. Not only can a JW never do enough, they can never contribute enough $$$$$.

  Second, it does away with the hard-line claim that you must be JW to be saved.

  Perhaps in words for public consumption, but from what I have been told it is even more black and white that if one is not baptized as a JW, and then for all intents and purposes worships the governing body as if they were collectively god himself you are bound to be turned into "burnt hotdogs".
